A wise man once told me…
“if you don’t bet on yourself, why should anyone else bet on you?”
I think you made the right decision, and I hope you are wildly successful!!!!

I grew up in Germany in the late fifties early sixties. It was there I decided to raise sheep. I just didn't know it. On a small homestead now these decades later living MY dream. I was so afraid to do this but I started with a ram and a few ewes and then my friend lost her husband several yrs ago and gave me ALL her sheep. So I am a happy old lady sheep farmer now.

Tyler and family, I am so very proud of you for making this leap! I believe that you will do very well and the channel can now grow into it's potential. The only question I have is, will you have health insurance? Not every day, covered for anything stuff, but major coverage. When I took that "long walk off the short dock" it was so scary, but this way you will truly be the Captain of your own ship! My husband and I grew our business into a life that was our own, and retired 5 years ago, happy with our choice.
I am so proud of you and your beautiful wife! I predict that you will live a longer, more productive life, and be much happier in the process. You are a smart, well educated, modern man.
Congratulations and every good wish for tomorrow and the future.

Didn't get into farming, but I quit my job and went full time for myself more than 7 years ago. It has been a challenge, but I wouldn't go back. My biggest piece of advice is to get and keep the administrative/business management side straight and streamlined right from the start.
    Best wishes!

Even if I had failed I would have at least tried. I do believe you will make it work. I have been watching you from almost the start of your channel. Enjoy them all. Looking forward to your next one. Thank you for doing them. May God bless you and your family.

I started off raising and butchering 50 meat birds. Last year I sold approx 700. This year I ordered 1200 chicks in two separate batches. I literally can’t keep up with the demand in my area. My only costs are purchase of chicks and feed. I’ve set up my own butcher shop, do all my own processing and bagging. I’ve invested in several thousand feet of electric netting and solar chargers to rotate birds around pastures. And I work 1200-1400 hrs a year at my full time job, but I enjoy every minute I get to spend on my farm. And I take pride in providing poultry products to the people in my community. Make it work buddy, market your farm products your grandfather would be so proud. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

I've known a lot of guys that raise cows at home and come to work in the auto plants here in Lansing. They all talk about the day they can work the farm/ranch full time and drop the in town job. Good luck to you and if in the end you have to go back to a 50/50 job and ranch situation you can always say you gave it your best. Personally, I think you'll make it.

Wonderful Tyler, I'm impressed at your leap of Faith. Fear and worry are of the Devil. Hey, I felt EXACTLY like you when I exited my 120k/year engineering job on my 55th birthday four years ago. From what I know...First two years working for yourself will be bliss....everyone's 3rd year gets a bit tight with funds. That 3rd year hump is rough.
When i was in my late 40's traveling for commissioning....i had a free day off and visited a cemetery....checking out all the dates of births and deaths. Was amazed that ~ 30% (1 in 3) in that cemetery were younger than me...DEAD. Walked away with two thoughts....life is short and "AIM WELL" aim well like you're sighting in a gun to get the things you want to get done in your life...your dreams fulfilled, your life's checklists completed. You cannot aim well...working on other people's projects. You did the right thing going solo.
Please check into a method of shipping frozen cuts of prime beef reliable (do not look at costs), i believe there will be a market for your 62,000. subscribers purchasing Tyler Ranch beef at any cost. Cause we know those are happy cared for cows-steers. Your a good craftsman, you'll always make it in life. I haven't forgot about what i want to do for your family and channel. You've inspired me.

Yes!! This is such exciting news. Just last week I was wondering if you still had your day job and wondering how you could possibly do all you do with a full time job. Congratulations to you and your family and yes it's scary! I moved from a good Los Angeles area job to rural South East Arizona 14 years ago and remember. But it all worked out. And so it will for you and your family! I am looking forward to following along on this new chapter! ,❤️

Congratulations - love your courage. It helps inspire me and no doubt others who have similar dreams of one day being able to move full time onto our farms.

Congratulations Farmer Tyler! You're one of the most down to earth farmers on YT, and I'm so happy for you that you made the transition.

Just took a few minutes to scan the comments to your BIG NEWS!! Without a doubt and by line item you have significant support for your channel, family and this decision. You had a dream, developed a plan and did the hard work.....Becoming debt free opens up so many options and to one degree or another softens the anxiety and fear related to walking away from a job with all the benefits. I have no doubt this path will cause sleepless nights and maybe some self doubt, as the "what if's" occur.. Being responsible and driving your own destiny, well it just doesn't get any better. Congratulations to you and all the entire FTR family.
