- 5 years ago, I knew someday I would quit my job to work full time on the farm. Now that the decision has been made let's talk about HOW we will be able to lose a 6 figure a year salary. It may be easier than you think.

**Overnight French Toast Casserole -
- 1 loaf of bread
- 8 eggs
- 2 cups half and half
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Add all ingredients to a bowl and mix. Once mixed pour over bread and put in fridge overnight.
Crunch topping (Add before putting in oven)
- 1 1/2 sticks butter softened
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

You may have mentioned this but I'm old and just don't remember. With your corporate job you had decent benefits -- What will you do for health insurance, dental etc. With a medical background I've seen families go belly up with one medical emergency.
Zach, I'm so proud of you for taking the leap. I took the leap at age 25 to start an industrial & home cleaning business. It's the scariest but BEST thing I have ever done. 20 plus years, and it's still going. There is nothing better than being your own boss. It's had its up and downs but so worth it all. Could not imagine working for someone at all. You both will do amazing things. I just know it. Much Love! Karen ❤️

Years ago Walmart put my dad out of business. He owned a sporting goods store. He couldn’t buy in the quantity that Walmart could which meant he couldn’t sell merchandise for the same price they did. So definitely keep your money local and in the small ma and pa businesses. Those corporations have enough money! Thank you for sharing this journey with us.

You'll be happier and bet you could save some of that 6 figure previous income. I left the medical field after 20 years and was self employed for 12 years, sold my business and now enjoying farming. Best leap of faith I ever took! All the best to you and Jenn! Be happy and remember it's not how much you make it's how much you keep and what you do with it. Enjoy the journey!

I’m very proud of you! I’ve been watching since you’ve had less than 600 followers here. Really enjoying watching your growth. I made that move years ago but my fiancé who I was with for 7 years worked a great job but we hoped he could quit too. Sadly he passed away last year and knocked me into full time farming without the security again in an instant. I’m making it work and I know You can do it too! I’ll be doing more videos again now too!

I sure wish we would have done so much differently. We are under a great burden if debit. No we have now vehicle payments and we have paid off quite a bit; but this home and land we bought I don’t think was a smart decision-but we are here now and will try to make the best of it if it doesn’t kill us first!

You could sell firewood bundles at your store or in a roadside stand at the end of your driveway.
Also they could cut and make their own wood to build and repair when lumber is needed instead of the outrageous cost of lumber now. It would require some time and a little equipment planers ect but would pay for itself pretty quickly for a small set up. Great videos I'm new so getting acquainted with the channel keep up the good work!

I am taking the leap this year at 66. I actually officially retired early because I didn't want to be in an employee status after COVID changed the work environment.
I paid cash for my fixer upper acreage which unfortunately over 500 miles away. I hate driving. Like many before me I over estimated my skills and underestimated the work to be done. So far it appears that jobs that should be completed in 1-2 hours for a normal person seems to take me 10-12 hours with lots of that time being used to cry and feel sorry for myself. However progress is being made.
While my main home still has a relatively small mortgage, I am debt free other than that and once I sell it I will have more than needed for some of my larger projects I plan on. I wouldn't want to deal with the stress of financial insecurity.
For 2022, with all the traveling back and forth when gas prices were close to $5 a gallon, hotels (house hasn't been livable), construction supplies and tools, and still paying this mortgage I only used $2k of my expendable savings. To me, this confirms that once I am down there without a mortgage I will be able to live off the income I have coming in.
For someone my age I would definitely recommend being debt free when the move is made because no one wants to be 70 and having to work at McDonald's to supplement their retirement.
Going for it is more for the young who can still build those wonderful memories of being so broke you had to dig under the couch cushions to scrape together enough to buy one ice cream cone to share as your date night.
Sell your house now the market is gonna crash ..

I will vouch for Jen’s zucchini bread since she shared the recipe with us years ago. I’ve made it so many times and I love it. It’s the best recipe I’ve ever used for freezing. As long as you wrap it like Jen does! 🫶🏼

I am so happy for you and your family. I love all your videos. I actually live my life through yall. I bought 13 acres in North Carolina with the plan to farm and have animals and a small garden. Well it seems my life partner was not on the same page and cares nothing about getting ahead or providing just enough food for us. I watch a lot of couples on youtube and they seem to work well together. I have tried and tried with no help from him. I am 57 and have been here for 10 years but can not seem to get ahead by my self. So today I put my place on the market for sale. I wish nothing but the best for you both and keep those videos coming so I can continue to dream, lol.
Praying you made the right decision. Do you lose your health insurance? All it takes is one major medical issue and it could break you. I hope you have insurance. Everything else I’m not worried about. I could not give up that job.
As I said before I'm really happy for you both... committing to each other and working together to live your dreams and best life takes a leap of faith... I know that you are on your life's path. Some who are contemplating doing something similar may be curious how you solved the health insurance issue. I know when I retired at 63 I didn't factor in the date of my retirement and the end of my Cobra insurance so I had to pay out of pocket for a few months until my 65th birthday. That wasn't the smartest thing I had ever done... 🤦.

Health insurance when you don't work for a company can be over 2k a month..are you guys going to be going without insurance? I know even cobra is expensive
You can purchase health insurance through market place for real cheap and its good insurance even the hmo is good

congrats and I hope you guys are super successful. I was wondering if there is such a thing as goldenrod extract to tincture. I had a bunch of golden rod weeds growing on our property last fall, I did some research on it, and found it to be medicinal for my urinary system. So before the last frost we cut all the plants, flower and leaves. I let them dry and put it all in 2 quart jars. Every night before bedtime I make myself some tea with about a heaping tablespoon. It helps me from having to go pee every hour. It causes my kidneys to flush and leaves me dry. I feel it is God sent. I've found that some of the weeds that grow on our property seem to be medicinal for us. thnx for sharing and I pray God blesses you both in all your ventures.

Understand that a SIX FIGURE income is $100,000 and up. Not 60 or 50 thousand. Make sure your where he's at and have been SAVING like he's probably been saving to be able to do what he just did! I mean no harm but some people will not understand that math...

A bread vendor told me to freeze bread upside down. And thaw it right side up. It seems to help
