Have you been able to get the hand tracking (ultraleap) to work with Crystal? Using OpenXR toolkit and PimaxXR, I can see the hands but it doesn't seem to emulate the controller (no arrow) as it did with HP Reverb and OpenXR.
already have the Pimax..... waiting for the release of the software... Thanks for the heads up :-) Got the ryzen7 7800x3d ready to be build here...gonna do a performance test with my old Ryzen 9 5950x and this new x3d setup.
Mark, another great video. Would love to try the Pimax or any good VR headset but reluctant to buy one as being partially sighted and only having one eye, I only use the flight SIM in 2D, so not even sure it would even work for someone like myself that has limited sight. I always wanted to be a pilot as a kid, but that was never going to happen with my eyesight, the RAF were not interested. I can't even drive a car because of it, but now I have the flight SIM that at least allows me to fly, albeit from an office chair. Thank you for the great videos, Mark, I have learnt a lot from your channel.
Hi Markand thanks for another great video. Completed all calibration steps and enabled eye tracking in Open XR. When I start a flight, however the eye tracking does not work within the cockpit. Please advise.
Hello Mark, I need your help. Since yesterday I have been trying to calibrate my eye tracking with the new Pimax software but I cannot. I have never had a green light and I have never seen red lights around the lenses with my camera. At the end of the calibration I still get the calibration fail message. Strangely, when I program auto lens recognition, it always comes back to the plastic lens and not the glass. I tried to manually set the lenses but no calibration. I am desperate. Do you have an idea? Thanks in advance.
Hoping to try this soon. PIMAX created a shipping label 18 days ago and it still has not left the factory according to FedEx. No response from support yet.
I am currently testing the Pimax with my 7800X3D and 4090 GPU and is very nice so far have to say! I am looking forward to your review with the new CPU and the crystal! 😊

The sim was rendering the in sim vfr map " behind the scenes" ..no visual indication of this though ... As soon as i clicked the off clic spot from the in sim drop down menu , the vfr map closed and i have a stable sim with mostly ultra settings and 75 / 80+ fps ... An old bug i believe .
I have been using pimax crystal and is amazing. The only thing I’m trying to figure out are the best settings for night flights in msfs. There is a white haze like being inside a white cloud when doing night flights
There is a workaround for this having to do with changing a pimax config file parameter. Something about the min black level…you change it from zero to .01. It worked for me, but I’m on vacation right now and can’t give you the details but hopefully you can search and find what I’m talking about.
Great review looking forward to this… have a question around motion re-projection.. do you have it on always with the open xr ..and then do you also have it on in the pimax? Motion smoothing.. or does that cause artifacts because that’s what I get in DCS but not in Microsoft And then does turbo mode turn off those two settings? As it seems you are running at 45 frames a second so you do have motion re-projection going? It’s tricky having these multiple layers of settings. Any help here would be much appreciated.
@@SimHangerFS Hmmm ok will have to give that a go... Ive just come from a rift S where ASW enables 90 FPS at half 45FPS smooth... for both MSFS and DCS... anything under 90 FPS without some form of motion re-projection for me creates stutters.. and it seems the same for the crystal...so I was assuming that I cant reach 90 FPS with my crystal and 3080ti that I had to use re-projection. Ill have a play around with it.. Thanks for replying to my comments and keep up the good work!
Hi Mark, I have a Question and maybe you or any other Crystal user can verify this. When I start a Discovery Flight in VR, say to the Pyramids, I have a big white bar across my display. Its located just above my cockpit and does not move if I move my head. If I "rebuild" this situation (Same Aircraft, same Location) over the World Map everything is fine. Nothing found on the Forums or on google. Can you test if you have the same issue? Greetings
How is your battery how long do you get before swapping out with the hub. I had to buy a 30 watt 3.0 fast charger going to give that a test because the hub only gave me about 2 and a half hours. Hoping they can fix this issue
I've been using my 7900xtx with the crystal all the time and the only issues I've had have been with the usb ports and the hub vr has been working ok apart from initial turn on the left lens flashes twice repeatedly until I carryout a service reset in Pimax software then its not a problem.@@SimHangerFS
I know of at least one new owner who will be returning their Crystal to Pimax if the eye-tracking software is not released in his 30 day return window.
Sent mine back after seven days of experiencing poor fit causing awful visual quality along with chromatic aberration. Not to mention the terrible build quality, £1500 for cheap, bendy plastic. I cant see it lasting 12months of regular use.
You have tested the primax crystal, and the lifetime of the battery you have not tell about, why not? It lasts only about an hour in DCS ?? Is it honest? But you are not alone it’s all most all influences 🤬
There is a known charging issue with those that have the 2xUSB copper cable, thus it was in my ‘’outstanding’’ list at the beginning of the video. For those like me, with the hub and fibre cable no such issue exists. After 4 hours use, still two or three bars on the battery.
I have no charging issues flying in MSFS. I use copper cable and my own powered hub (not the one provided by Pimax). Some users like you are genuinely having battery issues, but you should not generalize your experience and form accusations towards flight sim enthusiasts working hard to prepare and share the reviews.
@@StekuVideo I have tried everything, a 45 w. USC chargers , new usb c cable to the headset, and a lot of combinations, without luck….by the way I have copper cables, and I got no more than a good hour of battery time

I've been using my crystal for about 3 weeks. My longest duration flights are about 2 to 3 hours with the headset on. I have yet to need to change batteries. I always shut off the headset when finished with a flight but keep all the cables connected. Just don't see the battery being much of an issue. At least not for me.
Hopefully Pimax will publicly release the beta software soon, bringing full functionality to this VR Headset. What's your impression of this headset?

It’s the best choice you can do. The crystal is amazing 🤩
Expect Pimax problems. Much better options out there until we get 4K bright OLED headsets with pancake lenses in a small form factor.

I don’t know. I’ll ask Pimax and come back to you. I assume you have enabled ET in Pimax Play.

Yes, I will be using a 4090 as well in my initial tests and hopefully, subject to compatibility an RX7900XTX
What games, and what is the framerate? Hardly any VR benchmarks with your specs out there.

At minute 6:58 you see a strange line on the left corner following the horizon contour. I have the same anoying issue. Anybody a clue about this?
It is a graphical artefact, due to the lower resolution on the outer edges of the display / FOV. Increase the res and it will disappear.

@@jgarrets thank you. I’ll search about this
Hello,
have anyone some yellow spots ( dots) after 20 minutes playing?
Recommend you turn your overall resolution down inside the pimax play software. Still looks great and you’ll get a nice bump in FPS
3500x4140 is already a reduced resolution in PimaxPlay. Pimax render quality set to the middle at 1.0 is a crazy 4312x5100 per eye.

Motion smoothing is not on (Turbo mode does not support this), Pimax Crystal does not support this at the moment.

I have the fibre optic cable with hub and after about 4 hours there is still some life left in the battery.
As I understand it, the AMD issue is with the GPU not the CPU. So that 7800X3D should be fine depending on the graphics card.
