I just got the Pimax Crystal and I'm sporting a 4070ti. I get over 100 FPS with the DCS "VR" preset and around 60 FPS with "high" settings. I tested it on DCS 2.9 MT. DFR and DLSS are on, and my Crystal is running at 120 Hz. My PC is a new Alienware R15 with 32 GB of memory. DCS runs so well that I don't feel the need to lowering my graphics settings. With the Crystal, playing flight sims in VR is finally worth the trouble of putting the damn thing on my head.
i have a 4090 sure it’s smooth when the graphics are tone down. i never thought anything can push the 4090 but PCVR is definitely one scenario where i’m looking over my shoulder for a 5090. Pimax Crystal is great, i use it for sim racing but i get eye fatigue after a couple of 10min races and revert back to my normal multi screen setup.
I have Crystal for a week, FOV is huge, cant complain. real fov is 106/106 +- like index and Q3, but the picture is stunning !! Other VRs are miles away to achieve such clarity. No screen door effect, like watching 4k TV but in 3D. You have to see it with your eyes to believe it. 4K HRD movies in virtual ciname are stunning ! simracing you can see now 500m prior corner, nobody achived this before!
WOW! I've just tried Pimax Smart Smoothing in MSFS with almost full ULTRA settings. I've stayed away from various implementations of this reprojection technology in the past (i.e. SpaceWarp, Motion Smoothing, etc.) because it's had so much artifacting, etc. However, this is the cleanest I've ever seen. Up until this point I was using DLSS (Quality) to get 70-80 FPS but I didn't realize the hit to clarity and detail I was taking to get that. I can see so much detail with settings now and I'm getting like 80-90 FPS (I'm on 4090/13900K). I occasionally see those screen glitches you mentioned but it's mostly just in the menus. Also in the menus there's a little wibbly wobbly warping to bits here and there but I don't care if I can get my flights this smooth it's a small price to pay.
Im assuming this update was 1.14 when it was released, so far the only one that supports smart smoothing properly (confirmed by the development team), even 1.32 beta hasnt addressed it yet (they said eventually, well its been a year and still waiting). Myself i remain on 1.14
After downloading the new firmware Monday, I no longer see the mouse pointer in the Crystal. Have you ever heard of such a thing? I've got a support ticket in with Pimax, but you know how that goes.
i just built my new gaming pc with a Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-14900K intel(R) UHD Graphics 770 NVidia RTX 4090 graphics card and a MSI MPG Z790 EDGE WIFI LGA1700 Motherboard am loving the vr flight sim now every think is up on ultra all the traffic on full and am getting no stutters no freezes i do recommend the 4090 and the Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-14900K intel(R) UHD Graphics 770 NVidia GTX 4090 graphics card smooth as anything the msfs is and the fps is amazing
@@OverkillSimulations and I forgot to ask you did you mention in the video what is the down scale resolution in openxr tool kit the override resolution. And I have a 4090. It’s been awhile since I flew because I’ve been racing in iracing which is incredible with the pimax crystal. I get a solid 120 fps in vr and open xr tool kit. Oh and also using auto fps, it is great.
@@OverkillSimulations ok thanks and still a little concern about the wider fov lenses for the crystal. I watched vr sim guy and Sebastian and the do not recommend them so what do you think. I watched your video and really couldn’t tell if you recommended them lol
After this after update my pimax is broken…. I get a huge sutter/pause every ½ second in the headset. And I have never gotten eye-tracking in the headset to work, I always get an error message that my eyes are not following the dots…. 😢. Thanks for this video, I will give your settings a try, fingers crossed….
Stutters are gone yeah!!! BUT no eye tracking, followed all the instructions and troubleshooting but the lenses won’t connect to the unit. Emailing Pimax in the morning.

Have you tried Nvdis DLSS in comparison? What’s was your findings?
were you able to bind the menu to a button?
I’m super curious doesn’t the Varjo aero let you play on ultra too? I thought it gave the better performance out of the two?
I think that the only card il the 4090.
My 4080 can’t really keep up with my reverb g2

Mouse pointer?
Great video!
I what are your Nvidia settings? Could you share images for it?
Thanks
Only thing I have is Prefer maximum performance in MSFS specifically
Im not keen on them graphics man looks bad in vr but good video to show people
Lol doesn't look bad if you have crystal and 4090. Trust me
What are your Open XR settings? Curious about your resolution number?
Horizontal is 2590 I don't remember the vertical but it will obviously adjust

@walvin68 RTX not GTX that ended with 10 series cards
Hello my friend I got a question for you. Are you using TAA or DLS
In VR usually DLSS

Do you also tried dcs? I’m going to buy 4080, but idk how this gpu performs in dcs with or without pimax dfr
Yes DCS runs fantastic

@@ztublackstaff well at least a partial resolution
Did you plug that extra usb c into your headset before update? Many forget or don’t realize this must be done first.
@@kennykanadathat's not true at all. If it was there would be a on screen prompt to say plug it it
Doesn't the Quest Pro also have eye tracking?
👍👍👍
everything on ultra with a 4080 ???? i think this is nonsense .....
Not another content creater that has left the packing foam on the top of the headset 🤦♂️
Actually I liked it.. it offered a support to the headband that I liked so I put it back on lol.. I know I'm weird lol
