Great long term review! This jacket could be SO much better and falls short in my experience. It wears very slim and limits shoulder/arm/chest movement if you're muscular or athletic which was was my experience. The amount of down used to insulate isn't much at all on the version I had. It wasn't very warm sub 25-30*F temps and given the slim fit it left very little room for layering. For me this is a 30-50*F Fall weather jacket. It excels in the looks department but I wish it was warmer. Add triple the down, some gusseted back/shoulders for movement and you'd have a real winner.

I’ve had my jacket for 10 years as well. I agree on all your points. I have the same points of wear and I agree that the torso is a bit slim and not sized for layering if you have a normal body composition. I would add that I’ve had my jacket professionally cleaned twice and re-waxed the shoulders and elbows with good result. Overall a good jacket. All Fjällräven stuff is a bit overpriced but still a good buy if you have the money. In Sweden we have good availability of second hand Fjällräven clothes as well.

Enjoyed the review . What are some good merino wool base layers you could recommend?

      Thanks!
I have a mid 200 ice breakermerino wool base layer, as well as a sears one that’s same thickness, then a couple polyester/fleece type of ones that are good, but the wool ones are warmer and I prefer them.
Then I have a couple of chunkier wool sweaters that barely fit under the coat haha

Have you ever washed it/ how do you clean it? How about the main zipper, any issues?

So what you are saying is you can get a 100 dollar jacket that outperforms this piece in every aspect besides looks. fjallraven the brand for looking rough while going to the coffeeshop :D

Haha ya basically. But, I have been impressed that the jacket has lasted this long… you could find a much warmer and cheaper jacket, which I’ve had in the past, but they’ve only lasted 2-3 years for me.. so if I do the math, I still need to get another 10 years out of this one for it to pay for itself haha

Just wear a long sleeve merino wool baselayer. The jacket is perfectly fine, infact it excels.

I actually have done merino sweaters and base layers. Have got it down to temps of -20, but still had to get a parka for those -30 days
