My waxed Skogso jacket is great for 3-season everyday use and can stand the occasional shower easily. When cycling in wind and steady rain for 20 mins., at the shoulders and sleeves, drops of water slowly come through, mainly because/when wind blows water through the fabric. After 30 min, I slowly get soaked.
For actual hiking/camping I use a 3-layer Goretex jacket. If I'd use anything else, I might try Paramo but that requires body heat/activity to works it's way.
But for regular daily use, lovely fabric/jacket.

Great video. Well done and thank you. I love the look of the Kaipak jacket. I much prefer the zipped napoleon pockets to the old style chest pockets with a flap. The detail that bothers me though is , will the lifespan of the stretch panels under the arms come close to matching that of the rest of the jacket? My gut feeling is no, it wont.

Thank you and thank you for sharing your thoughts! It's an interesting observation. Fjallraven designed the Kaipak jacket with stretch panels in low wear areas to enhance flexibility without compromising durability. While it's true that the stretch panels are softer than the G-1000 fabric, they are strategically placed to minimize wear and tear.
In my experience working with Taunton Leisure and Fjallraven, I haven't encountered instances of the stretch panels wearing out faster than expected. But this could change depending on how you use the jacket ect

Great jacket. It would be useful if you mentioned what size the jacket is when you're trying it on. To help viewers guage the right size for them. Thanks

Anorak no. 8 looks great. But, what about use in the rain? It’s a bulky and big jacket to wear a shell/poncho over the top. I'm not really understanding its purpose and the conditions of use - they seem rather narrow to me.

Do you think they will release an updated shell version of the Greenland No1 come summer? I can only find the down version available these days, but I'd like to get a lesser isolated jacket and I love the design with the leather trim on cuffs and hood..

Sadly we don't know. It would be an interesting product to see in the lineup and would fit in nicely with the rest of the range. It's a great-looking bit of kit!

Hi, Thank you for your comment and we are glad you liked the video. Thank you for spotting that, our apologies it was supposed to be removed during editing. You're correct they use a Vegetable tanned leather. We will add the amendment at the top of the description.

@@tauntonleisure Ooo, tough question! But I think if I had to pick it would be the Greenland No1. It fills a gap in my jacket line up between my gear that I only use for outdoors, and general casual clothing. It has enough weather resistance to be practical making it useful for casual wearing and for being up on Dartmoor. Unless it was sub-zero or absolutely chucking it down on Dartmoor, I could see myself grabbing this jacket instead of one of more outdoor adventure focused jackets.

I have used many different Fjällräven products for hunting and must say that G1000 (even when waxed) is absolute garbage in rain, especially when wearing a backpack, a rifle or just in general something that puts pressure on the fabric. Even tried the Ecoshell rain jacket, which is completely overpriced and can't compete against a 3L Goretex in breathability and water resistance. I think Fjällräven has become some sort of hipster brand but isn't made for serious outdoor stuff.

G1000 is water-repellent and does not claim to be waterproof. G1000 lasts a lifetime, very good quality!

@@france8386 Yeah but the Ecoshell claims to be waterproof and is just an overpriced product that can't compete with Gore-Tex.

Hi, we had a look into this. All we could find is Engie have purchased Fenix, a South African Solar company. A completely different company to Fenix Outdoors which is still majority owned by the Nordin Family in Sweden.
