I was never into their base products but I really miss their ready eye shadow palettes, they were a super luxe formula and the colors were pretty! i loved the compact shape and size too.
interesting about the oxidation. I'm Asian and pretty tan, have medium light skin with yellow undertones and also I'm quite oily. When I've done a bare minerals consultation in the past, they went with Golden Fair...which looked really light on me... but over time when my oils mix with the powder, it looks perfect. I've tried slightly darker colors, and they usually look amazing to begin with, and then over time my face just looks dirty or like I've put on way too much bronzer. So I wonder if the key is to pick a slightly lighter tone, and it oxidizes to your perfect tone? Just a thought!
I still have oily skin at 54, and it is beautiful, didnt settle into wrinkles, helped fill in pores. I like it best with a brush after moisturizer has sunk in. Did need to blot every 2-3 hours, but that is standard for me. I will say this looks far better when using a light coverage
I have normal/dry mature skin and it did not feel dry on me. It was very smooth and soft looking. I so wanted this to work. But I could not get a good color match. I think I will retry getting a good color match & try with the damp beauty blender because I have never found anything that would last on me. I live in a very humid climate.
Yes, it was when Leslie Blodgett sold the company. Prior to that, it was all loose mineral. That is what set them apart. After, it was liquids and pressed, which includes the preservatives, the company was known not to use. I hope they leave their original loose mineral product alone. I have been wearing it since my late 20s, it was the first makeup I liked. I am 49 now, I have read that once you are over 40 you have to give up on the powder foundation. It still works great for me, admittedly, I still have oily skin. The company is going in a disturbing direction, the Gen Nude eyeshadows where solid and they have replaced them with something that does not seem to work while swatching, they have terrible reviews. I don't know if it is a supply chain problem or what, but based availability, I suspect the Gen Nude liquid lips are going next. I bought a back up of Scandal just in case. I wish I could get Rose back in the eye shadow.
I'm 52 and still wear the original loose mineral product. It's all about preparing the skin with whatever you need (moisturizer, serum, and primer for me), and it still looks the same on my skin as it did many moons ago.
Sadly the new ownership is more focused on profits than quality. When companies “reformulate” their products, 99% of the time it’s to swap out quality ingredients for something cheaper so they can save money at the customer’s expense.
agree with you im so sad to see bare minerals becoming to commercial and putting bad ingredients in their products. the pro liquid foundation was so good but now is so oily, has alcohol and other acne causing ingredients 😢😢😢. time to look for another brand
BareMinerals also recently reformulated the Complexion Rescue tinted moisturizer and it's not nearly as good as the old one 🙈 The old one was my holy grail 😢
Only use this product because it's talc-free. I had picked the same color, 15 Neutral and you are right about the orangey undertone. It seems it's either orange or yellow with this line, wish they had a light olive. But once it's on all over, it looks fine. Will be trying the damp sponge. Thanks for the review.
I have been following you since the bareminerals days. I completely agree, the brand is not as exciting as when Leslie owned. However there products continue to be solid for me. I love all of you bareminerals videos though and I was anxiously waiting for your thoughts on this product. Thank you for sharing 😊
This looks very pretty on your skin. When you first swiped the foundation I thought that it looked a little dark. But once you got it on looks pretty. I love the compact packaging.
I just included that in a mini rant. I didn't buy the new ones, they look pretty, but I could not get anything off in the swatches and I was trying pretty hard. The reviews are pretty bad. I don't buy much makeup anyway, but Gen Nude Rose is getting worn and two shadows are broken. I guess I should pay more attention.
To save money. The company was sold, and the new owner is “reformulating” everything to swap out quality ingredients for cheaper ones at the customer’s expense.
My skin's become much drier and I can hardly use my original bare pro powder foundation now. This might be better but, my biggest complaint would be, why create a powder compact IF you need to use a wet sponge to apply!!! Thanks for the review. I'm falling off their wagon too.
You only need a wet sponge if you’re trying to get “full coverage” out of this product that is only meant to be light-medium coverage. They have ANOTHER foundation that is already full coverage. No one “needs” to use a wet sponge unless they chose the wrong foundation.
ove this foundation, at least the old formula. I have tried so many powder foundation, loose or compact, this is the first one that i like how it look on my skin and my pores. With combo skin this works very well. I tired the loose one. My pores look 3 times bigger than what it is. Hopefully new formula work as well as the old for combo oily skin
They were, but then someone else bought the company from the original owner and strayed away from the talc-free loose powders they were known for and started doing more pressed and liquid products. It’s a shame.
