    One big negative and why I can’t use such a device is that the battery capacity is above 150wh (576wh in fact) which makes it impossible to travel by air with, even as carry-on.
    If only someone made a pack that has multiple removable 100wh modules that makes it legal to fly.

    • @dathat555
      @dathat555 Месяц назад +1

      The Star-Batt site says they are considering a "lite" version with a smaller battery under the allowed limit for flying.
      How about a setup with a small built-in battery that also accepts one or more common tool batteries as extenders? Two or three slots for a Milwaukee M12 or M18 or similar would do nicely. The Star-Batt BMS would handle the safe charge/discharge.

    It's not every day that you see a clever and well thought-out design. Having Starlink in general is great for all of the reasons you mention, like getting on those work calls while simultaneously enjoying the great outdoors, calling for help when the 7.3 is broken down in remote areas, or accessing manuals etc. for field repairs, but the waterproof all in one kit is the next level. Leave all your other chargers and batteries at home, grab the bugout Batt, and have an extra layer of protection, solar power, and connection when out in harsh conditions hunting, camping, assisting others in power outages, etc. Imagine using "AI" to design a 3D printed finger splint that is printed and ready at the camper when you get back from your hiking trip/mishap.

    Nice AD. We need to plant some more of those 110v trees around here. I went through 4 or 5 different cables with my mini as well. Would be sweet if a 50w or even 20w solar panel could go on the lid. My one google search didn't tell me if those can be radio transparent though. Another cool option would be a timed shut off.

    • @Everlanders
      @Everlanders  Месяц назад +2

      Timed shutoff is already an option in the Starlink App... Further, Silicon, the material used in most solar panels, cannot be made radio-transparent because of its inherent electrical properties. Silicon is a semiconductor, meaning it can conduct electricity under certain conditions. It has free electrons and holes (absence of electrons) that allow it to absorb electromagnetic radiation, including radio waves, and convert it into electrical energy. This ability to absorb radiation is crucial for its function in solar panels, where it converts sunlight (primarily in the visible spectrum) into electricity.
      When radio waves pass through silicon, the material interacts with them, causing attenuation (loss of signal strength). For something to be radio-transparent, it needs to allow radio waves to pass through without significant absorption or reflection, which is not possible with conductive materials like silicon.

    • @Datzneat
      @Datzneat Месяц назад +1

    • @Everlanders

    • @fraserwright9482
      @fraserwright9482 Месяц назад

      I agree, but you have the base or clipped inside. Bear in mind most life rafts don't have anything other than the door, so unfurling a 100w panel isn't an option. It doesn't have to be much. Just something to extend the life or give you options should you just be running from a chopper like your picture illustrates, not just camping as your video with a 4x4.

    Someone is going to ask so ... I seems you can plug any solar panel into the box to recharge the 500Wh battery. I'm guessing there is a solar charge controller in the box. What is the DC input range for voltage for the controller. You already know you can over panel the controller as it has a solar input max. You cannot over volt the controller. So what is the DC voltage range for the solar charge controller? This suggestion to help a first responder who doesn't spend their time with solar charge controller. Print that spec on the box much like the Bluetti AC180 product.

    • @starbattusa
      @starbattusa Месяц назад +1

      Great question! The Star-Batt Mini’s DC input range for the solar charge controller is 12-24V, up to 160W. We’ll definitely consider adding that info on the box for easier reference. Thanks for the suggestion!

    • @almostrvperfect6203
      @almostrvperfect6203 Месяц назад +1

      @@starbattusa One other thought. Print the spec(s) on the underside of the lid. That protects it from the elements as this box seems to be designed for harsh environments. My first thought was to emboss the spec into the mold of the box, but as soon as the batt and solar are updated that might not be so smart. Thanks.

    make it bigger so the case can store all the cables and a tri-fold solar panel. eliminate the hefty power brick charger. make the internal battery smaller - 300wh is fine as the “24hrs” time duration isn’t the main selling point, the full kit self contained is the selling point, and it can be recharged easily. Bluetooth the battery for app notifications about battery charge remaining, add exterior lights for charge-left indication.

      @Everlanders so thats what was my thought, better off with a cell phone. I have a 8db radio signal antenna for my syncrobit hotspot miner and would like to start experimenting more with handheld radios seeing radio waves or some of the most common used for communications.

    Colour code the top side so there is no need to open it to check oriantation

      The Logo is on the top side, in the lid, thus orientation is pretty simple.

    Not sure what the real benefit of this is, as you still need a vehicle to carry it around. As an alternative approach I have adapted my Mini to work off a POE 48V supply using a waterproof POE splitter mounted on the back of the dish. This works fine over an 85ft ethernet cable, which together with a mini tripod gives me all the dish placement flexibility I need without the expense and charging hassle of a large and not very portable battery.

      It sounds like you've got a solid setup already! The Star-Batt Mini is designed for those who need that extra level of ruggedness, durability, and battery capacity. We've used it everywhere-from boats, where it can handle getting knocked around and splashed, to off-road adventures in the side-by-side without worrying about damage. On road trips, we leave it in the truck bed while driving so the family stays connected, and when we stop, it’s quick to grab and redeploy. Think about the search and rescue teams on inflatable boats currently rescuing persons in the Hurricane Helene effected area. Many people need a Star-Batt Mini, but we understand that some Mini users already have the perfect solution for their needs.

      @@starbattusa Yes, good points and ideal for many specialist uses. I must admit I was only thinking of it in terms of its utility to the average RVer with easy access to onboard battery power.
