Congrats on such a great shiny! First time I got a shiny ferroseed in chargestone cave, 7 minutes afterward I found a shiny joltik! Static never seems to work out entirely but in this case I'd lucked out XD Hope you find shiny joltik soon though!

Congrats, these are always fun. I did this twice on the same game, Weedle and Mankey in Fire Red. Scary being so close to running from a shiny. It was on a 001 SP so pretty difficult to tell.
Oh yeah those dim SPs will get you. I think the DS classics are worse. It's hard to believe really Nintendo packaged them so dim. 3rd Gen stuff can be tricky. Thank you!

Fun fact here: I was inspired by you & friedbread to shiny hunt because I own a gameboy advance which is for emerald. And then I found out I don't own a cartridge ,rip. I mean, technically it is possible to do full odds shiny hunt on myboy but it will look fake because cheat codes exists. Might just stick to Pokemon go. Anyways MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS!

Static increases the odds of finding electric type pokémon so if you're aiming for an electric type yes
You dont need illuminate, encounters are still fast. If you want them to be faster, I suggest getting encounter power III
Yeah as already said, Static increases the chance of finding Joltik by almost 13%. It's 53% Joltik, 47% everything else. An average of 2 phases.
