Modelling a Basketball in Maya | Beginners Modelling Tutorial

Today we are going to model a Basketball in Maya. It's a simple and beginners tuturial where I am showing you how to make this basketball using simple tools and options. In this video I am only showing you how to model the basket ball and not texturing it. Probably next week i would be doing the texturing video. Thanks a lot for watching guys, with a simple sphere, we are going to make a basket ball. Probably later, I would show you how to make the net too.

Quick tip, if you want to make sure that you select verts when dividing the geo, click and drag on the edge towards the vert. The vert will automatically stop right where the edges meet. Cool video thank you

The actual basketball ridges were not symmetrical on both hemisphere.

It seems like the bevel tool gives a different result in Maya 2018. At the equator of the ball the width is much wider than at the poles. Any idea how to produce a bevel on those edges which is equivalent to this? Thank you.

Did you try selecting the vertices in the equator and trying to reduce the size using the scale tool? It might work but you'll have to be careful in selecting the correcting ones.
