Other groups seem to be so disturbed when Black Women get what we deserve in a positive way. Your voice is important, and you’re creating a positive space Black women deserve and have been missing and it bothers them. The ones the message is directed feel your intent whole heartedly ❤️.

As a 66-year old Black female, raised in rural Louisiana by sharecropping (cotton) parents and grandparents, I love, love your channel. I was fortunate enough to know six generations of my family. My mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother were domestic workers and farmers. My mother (born in 1937) said that she had picked enough cotton and cleaned enough white people’s homes that I would not have too. After 400-years of servitude in this country, it is time for Black women to get a break. Your channel is providing much needed conversation and service to Black women. I applaud you, Ms Alecia. 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾💕💕💕

The world (including our own men) are mad that we have the audacity to find self-worth when they've decided that we don't. They are mad that we don't require their permission to just be and we are not looking for them to cosign on our value. On top of the fact that we've decided to leave them be if they can't appreciate us respectively. We aren't even demanding (yet) that they recognize our value, yet they still refuse to acknowledge how much strength it takes to rise above despite our own brothers deciding we are not worthy of honoring. We have NO SECURITY in this world...or very little. I appreciate you creating a space for us to breathe. A space to re-energize so that we are refueled for the fight we have to endure aka live in this world. I need a nap.

I want u to know that this hits home! I remember in 2018 when I had Cancer. I decided to cut my hair off because I was so tired of it coming out after the chemo. My brother could not understand! All of my immediate family members had long hair and he wasn't accustomed to this, 'my belief'! I honestly believe he was ashamed to be seen with me- Oh the mindset of our Black men!! This indoctrination needs to LEAVE!! Anyway, I recognized it for what it was and Moved Forward, thankful to God for sparring my life! I actually got to really enjoy and love my hair, it was curly! People would stop and stare at me and finally ask was this my Real Hair!! Frankly, I got more looks with it like this, ha! Now I've decided to let it grow out and see where it takes me. 👍♥️

You've explained yourself, which, you didn't have to do. But don't do it again; those who don't get it will never get it until something changes in their experience which makes their lives a living mirror of an aspect of your experience. Spend your time as you are doing, learning yourself, and sharing that with others. I appreciate your honesty, your truth, and the courage you had to change your life. You have something terribly important to give, or you couldn't have, wouldn't have, made the changes you have, because change is extremely difficult, and to do it means digging down into your soul to see what put you on a road that ended in despair in the first place. Even when you know the historical context in which you developed your perspective, in the end, you have to acknowledge that your pain came from a part of you that you were not even vaguely aware of, and that the impact of all the racism, classism, etc. hid you from yourself. In the end, you wind up not blaming the world even though it plays a strong part in your pain. And what you find is strength, true morality, and you create a standard for yourself, and because you created it, no one can take it from you. You realize that you can do any and everything you need to do for yourself, and that you don't need a savior, and that you have only been waiting on yourself. That's what you've done Alecia, and I'm so glad for you. I'm also grateful because it's nice to know, in my old age, that youngster's are discovering this path at a much younger age than I did. I wish you the best.

I will not disrespect anyone but if you come for me I WILL tell you where to go. I do not believe we as black women owe anyone an explanation for the things we do, say or create. I moved to Brasil 10 years ago and the black experience here is completely different from my country. I enjoy your channel. You so eloquently put into words what I’ve been feeling and telling my friends for a long time. It dawned on me that we are the only culture of women hollering about being strong and independent. I saw some of my friends become worn down and stressed out due to this narrative. I realized it’s okay to be weak and admit to needing help. It’s ok to be a damsel in distress.
And speaking of black women and childbirth, I had an older lady tell me her experience of when she went to give birth. She said she wanted an epidural but they took so long to get to her, the baby was crowning and it was too late for it to be administered. She said she later learned from a white nurse that because black women were viewed as being so strong, they didn’t feel the need to make it a priority to give black women an epidural because they could handle the pain.

Thank you so much for this. It's a lot of food for thought and thank you for putting yourself in a position and being bold enough to make this video knowing is going to push away "other" people but you are staying true to yourself and that is not easy on a public platform.

A sharp black woman sharpening other black women... some people are not ready. Everything is not for me but a culture that thinks I shouldn't want anything. I haven’t even past #3 because you hit the nail right on the head! We are the ONLY subgroup that gets questioned and hassled for having our own space or choosing to date our own. Maybe we are too loud and proud about it and that’s what bothers them, idk. But it grinds my gears and I have had this convo many times. We are always fighting for the right to something. The right to live, the right to ownership or acknowledgement, the right to love, the right to our own spaces. Smh, it’s exhausting.

37:53 thank you for having me,...
You have inspired me so much...working on a painting of you as my thank you for seeing and speaking up for us...
On my channel I know I would go further if I was not talking about injustice and the other ism’s in this country. I think full heartedly that even the algorithm on RUclips is following through with the ism’s because far less content about that gets picked up and actually shown to viewers. But the ism’s are what literally tore my family apart, only because we are black. I think about it all the time, but if I leave all the ism’s out then my story, my struggle and the very purpose I started my channel to turn my pain into purpose and to let the next person in my shoes know what I been through, and because I got through it and it didn’t destroy me, and I still continue to fight, the next little black girl coming up will know they can get through it to...
... it’s like they want you to take the heart and the entire purpose out of your content. They want the usefulness that your channel brings but they don’t want the pain you had to go through that influenced it to go with it...

The fact that you've taken the time to explain this, speaks volumes to how inclusive and considerate black women are and have been.
Quite frankly I'm tired of having to explain to others (who have ample of spaces created for them) insisting on inserting themselves in spaces currated and intended for us. Its baffles me.
I think it's about time we create spaces for us and be unapologetically exclusive. There are things we need to work out within our selves and with each other, without the noise of others.
Thank you for being and providing these safe spaces. I just found you a few days ago and I am truly grateful.

Can I just say, as if we don’t know already…THIS IS RUclips…YOU…TUBE! I’m supposed to create what it is that I WANT to create. There are plenty of channels that are not for me…so I go to the channel(s) that are for me. Yet, I have come upon channels that weren’t exactly for me, still I get something out of it! While RUclipsrs often create to be of service to others needs… like you said Tamara, YOU get to serve the demographic that YOU choose to serve. It’s no different from knowing the importance of choose a niche when you choose to go into any other business. So it’s not any different here. And again… this is RUclips!

Young lady, I had No idea someone would act that way, Over Something that's YOURS, YOUR hair! So unrealistic for him to react that way! Sometimes, I've found that guys may say degrading things to try to make YOU feel bad, just so they can talk to you. THEY don't really feel up to par so they try to low rate u, place you on their level, so They feel they have a chance. I remember a guy who would always say to me, 'pinch an inch' like I was heavyset! Funny part, I knew I was really skinny, it was obvious, so of course I ignored him! He could not find Anything else negative to say about me, seriously! YOU know how u look, don't allow Anyone to make u feel bad about what God gave you! It Really pisses me off! Please 'IGNORE FOOLISHNISH'. ♥️

Thank you for focusing on black women and uplifting us. I watched this video several times as your message is so necessary and well received. I get so tired of feeling invisible and undervalued. I live in CT and have worked for predominantly white institutions like Yale University where I went through all kinds of hell and changes demanding my respect and fair treatment. It did not end well. I finally just had to drop out of working for any type of corporate or institution like business as I couldn't take the unfair treatment and disrespect I was receiving. I went to work for a nonprofit which was better but probably only because I decided to semi retire and work part time which makes working in disparaging environments easier. Now I just want to chill.. develop the creative parts within me and work for myself.. work at ease. 😌. I'm 67 yrs young..lol

It's a shame you even have to make a video discussing why you create content for black women. I watched content all the time geared towards a specific group of people and yet I am not trigger by it. But it seems to bother people if black women do the unthinkable and prioritize ourselves because there's an innate belief we must always prioritize everyone else. As you mentioned, other groups of women do have a certain privilege of not having to deal with the critiques of being a black woman, especially when some of our own men create content solely to demonize us for profit and power on the world's stage.

Let me tell you that if people don't like what you create for or talk about how bout they just go somewhere that speaks to them and let those of us who can relate and identify with you be in peace..I love you and there are a lot of us who do..I know it's hard but try to not allow people who try to take over your space to get in ya head you have a great heart don't let anyone take you out of that sister strut... You do it so well.. You are so on point... Also some of us got enough sense to not want to be where we are not wanted.

Thank you. I think that other groups are bored with the status quo and won't activate to disrupt it. They lazily enjoy the creativity, divinity and vitality that Black women exude. They desire for us to provide these things for them without having to cultivate these things within themselves which requires years and generational joy, pain and triumphs that we have endured both in the past and presently. We are fully human and divine and many struggle with simply being human. I just found your content and look forward to supporting and enjoying 🥰
