Finally I can hear the actual beta delfino plaza theme, there are beta versions of the delfino plaza on youtube but some instruments were a little different but this one is my favorite
Games used to change so much from their preview-builds to their retail versions in just a matter of months back then, because game development was a lot quicker. Today once you settle on a direction, its hard changing much about it, what you see in a trailer 2 years in advance is mostly what you get.
Games can still go through drastic transformations. They’re less frequent because modern AAA titles are less experimental, and when they happen, we can’t see them because publishers no longer carelessly use very unfinished builds for marketing. Sucks for us who want to preserve history and for kids who won’t be inspired to research the games they grew up with. Early access games obviously have their development happen partially in the open, AFAIK they typically don’t change much because players grow attached to whatever they were shown first and there’s a lot of complaining if the developers deviate from it. Half Life Alyx is rumored to have seen radical shifts, I haven’t played the game or investigated it myself so I can’t vouch for the validity of the rumors.
God we were so close to have Sunshine in 60fps glory, really wonder why they decided to drop to 30fps there considering how nice the early footage looks
It'll actually run 60 fps on GameCube as well but there are parts of the game that have slowdown especially when spraying water, they made it 30 fps for consistency @@codezero7981
@@AdamDoree For sure! Also quick question and totally cool if not but would you be ok with sharing with me the original footage for this video in it's original resolution? I would like to upscale it and have it all for documentation purposes for the community.
@@UncleMeatz I forgot to reply. This was asked on some other videos too. For now, the RUclips upload is it - not much point in the source files because (a) the actual raw files are not remastered like this finalized YT upload, and (b) the finalized YT upload, in turn, is preserved very well in its public-facing quality because the highest encode level is triggered by 1440p, really nothing is missing in the context of the source material. I may distribute upload files one day but for now I prefer folks view it here. Of course, anyone is able to rip it from YT and incorporate into their own commentary/documentary on a reasonable basis and I am totally ok with that!
I hope one day more info about these early builds is revealed in a hack like what happened with Pokemon. Perhaps maybe theres a copy of the SpaceWorld beta build floating around.
Definitely higher quality than the original SpaceWorld trailer but the remastered trailer footage in AI is good too. Nice to see a different perspective from that 2001/2002 year.
8:38 "i see doors labelled '1-3', do you know what those are?" "oh those are just certain areas you can go in." was the guy just not actually knowing what they were and guessing, or was rico's garage actually planned to lead to an area? 9:08 wow, that is an odd voice clip. i've never heard this one, it's not even in the game's files.
Oh wow, this is more colorful than the 2001 trailer footage that's been around on RUclips for a long time

very true, old dev and new dev both pretty fascinating in totally different ways

Probably for generic performance slowdown reasons, but the game STILL slows down in the manta section and others in the final build...
probably due to performance issues on the GameCube however the game runs at steady 60fps on a Wii when using a cheat code.
we dont need it in 60 fps thats for tech versions. Sunshine looked great. ur a ghey

Thank you for sharing! This footage will help the community a lot with understanding SMS history and myself with a beta restoration. Kudos to you 👍
Thank you and please feel free to put the word out because I don't know where to do that :D

This is gold for SMS beta community
I’m glad you uploaded a better quality version of your video, I’ve always been fascinated about how you’re able to archive lost material.
8:39 glad even before the game came out someone wondered the obvious, 21 years later and I still don't know what those damn doors are for 😂😂
I love how people used to cheer for physics in games, now it's just "Oh okay this game's coming out, nice."
Good point... that all changed with Half-Life 2 kinda
It looks like a totally different game running at 60fps as to 30 In the final

Fascinating footage, thanks for uploading. I wonder if we'll ever hear what happened behind the scenes regarding 30 and 60 fps
Another amazing upload from your archives Adam, this channel is the gift that keeps giving😊

Amazing as always.
I think the mysterious girl in the original Super Mario Sunshine trailer was just Peach in a different outfit this entire time
Thank you so much for sharing this :D
Thanks a bundle!
This is awesome
Is it just me or are the goop textures higher res in the beta? It looks significantly better.
Bianca hills sounds off a lot
Ah yes. The beta design, dolpic town
the first Delfino Plaza’s collision is in the final and someone recreated it
was the april fools joke that you'd post on april fools lol? jokes aside seeing the spaceworld 2001 trailer in a much better quality is nice!
Ha I did think should I wait in case ppl think it's a joke but no just a coincidence - I gotta post whenever I have a moment of spare time lol
it would fun if you found footage gameplay from space world 2001
They only showed this early reveal trailer - no gameplay! I think gameplay only started coming in around E3 2002 as shown
maybe there lost footage from the game of spaceworld 2001
@@babyminya539 nope.

Adam doree, do you have video recordings of the demo versions of Super mario galaxy and sonic the hedgehog 2006 at e3 2006
I have a bunch of Mario Galaxy but I think we were pretending Shadow wasn't happening at the time.
Can you then email me a link to all these super mario galaxy videos at e3 2006?
If it is of course possible
@@weresonicthehedgehog4511 I'll just add them to this channel at some point!!
