Everyone acting like these techniques are new. All these techniques are pure Shotokan karate techniques. He just adapted them to work. I’m glad he brought honor to our style. I hope one day we can see the other martial arts gain the same respect. All the arts do.
@@fitofight8540 ughhh I hate this debate. But I’ll bite. Look the ONLY reason why we do the fist to the waist thing which we call it “hikte “ is because it teaches you hip rotation, extension, and drives the opposite arm faster. It’s more if an exercise to develop speed and power and NOT in used in actually fighting. That’s why karate people are so explosive and quick with the straight linear punches. It also forces the practitioner to punch from a farther distance forcing them to punch faster. It also teaches them to extend from a farther distance. Clearly, lyoto is a great example his he used it. It is however an exercise and we would never teach our students to fight with the hand on the hip like that. It’s just part of the karate culture and part of our development stage. That’s it.
@@fitofight8540 if you don’t know. Lyoto is from the JKA which “hikte” is huge. So he trained with the waist thing his whole life. Meaning, and pricing hikte works. In a sense it’s developed counter strikes, speed, and explosiveness. He’s trained it his whole life. Therefore as someone who has done it my whole life, I’m also in Vegas capital of MMA, the drills that he’s done reflect his success. So, hikte as an EXERCISE does work. But whatever, you’ll probably tell me I’m wrong. Blah blah. I’m done. Good bye!
@@agelesskarate Actually no, the hikite has nothing to do with power. It's actual application is to grab and pull your opponent into your strikes or clear the arm out the way for a clean shot. Funakoshi (the father of shotokan) says this in his book Karate do Kyohan.
@@MrMattias87 cool. I didn’t know that thanks. The guy who taught me was one of fubakosji students and he said Hikite developed power and speed. I’m not a fan of hikite but every practitioner is different.

He made his punches non telegraphic unlike shotokan where the fist came from the waist which is a stupid thing to do in mma.

Thank you for posting.
Thank you for uploading this big fan of machida

lyoto machida = jin kazama
GSP = Ryu
Jin is kyokushin before, lyoto is more Heihachi.
@@leorosa Jin looked Shotokan in Tekken 4, and by 7 he looks a lor more kyoku. Perhaps he cross trained.
It's telling how low the MMA striking level was that Luogo was practicing punching combinations with his hand so low.
Not really. Thats how the hands are placed in a karate stance ie connor or wonderboy
Lyoto barely kicks and it's still hard as hell haha
thnks 4 uploadin it on youtube

Treino de kumitê : /
excluding his stance, this is more muay thai than karate though
This is karate b/c of the stance. Muay Thai is standing straight and kicking straight...what are you talking about?
the stance and angles he's coming in at are very different from muay thai
Muay Thai has no angles...just blocks and slight evasive movements....geez
daaah you.just trolling around ...his stance is karate...before you speak out nonsense, just watch the karate match you dumb ass
