      It'd be cool if Ganondorf could corrupt and maybe influence Links own power during the fight.
      He could steal Links power or special abilities that he's collected throughout the game and weaponized it all or some of it against him.

      But me; Dungeons are what largely define the series. They are more of less the soul of the games: take those out and you have,, well what do you have? @@netweed09
      Without dungeons, you still have a game series that has Link setting out on an adventure against adversarial forces (And even then, Zelda games can be looser than that, as Zelda games are whatever they want to be); The absence/presence of dungeons don't at all affect the potential of what this series can offer, as dungeons are just one (1) game mechanic among many, many other mechanics that the franchise utilizes at its disposal, and that's not even mentioning the fact that the series can use/invent new mechanics that they've never used before.
      Your POV is very restricted to a narrow scope, as you seem to think that dungeon mechanics are greater than they actually are, which, at the end of the day, are nothing more than just game mechanics - tools and languages a game uses at its disposal to express itself in various ways.
      For the record, I absolutely ADORE Zelda dungeons, but, also for the record, I equally adore the absence of dungeons just as much. With or without any mechanics, a Zelda game will still ultimately be itself, as it's how it uses its tools and speaks through its gameplay that defines its soul, rather than the other way around

    If you remember in skyward sword, Demise's consciousness had been sealed in the master sword, after which Impa states she must stay there to guard against Demise being released. What if damaging the sword releases Demise? The ultimate plan to use malice to unleash the original demon back into the world? This would also tie into the theory that Ganondorf had been placed under Hyrule Castle in some sort of ritualistic spell, whether alone or with help still remains to be seen, but it had been a planned event. I mean, how many times can you try and take Hyrule head on before changing tactics? The sky islands, to me at least, could indicate link having to go back and reforge the sword to face Demise, paired with Ganon or alone. We may even see a return of Fi. Her sole purpose was to help the hero seal the demon away, but If demise is unleashed, then her purpose is unfulfilled, therefore she would wake again.
    Whatever the case I am definitely excited! The only thing I ask is that if they do bring Fi back as link's companion, that she be HELPFUL in this game.

    The corruption on the arm reminds me of the curse put on Prince Ashitaka's arm in the film Princess Mononoke. Not sure if that in turn is based on a deeper root in Japanese folklore, but it would be interesting if the parallel continues through with Link gaining some powers because of the corruption (similar to Ashitaka tapping into the cursed demon strength of his arm at several points in the movie).

      Funny enough, I was reminded of the "Ghost Hand" storyline from the original Star Wars Clone Wars micro-series, which uses a corrupted hand as a symbol for Anakin's use of the dark side of the force. My guess would be that either it took some inspiration from Princess Mononoke, or both of them took inspiration from the same thing.
      EDIT: a bit of time on Google revealed that Star Wars Clone Wars took inspiration from Princess Mononoke, so both BOTW2 and Star Wars Clone Wars took inspiration from the same thing.

Being Sheika tech, it might have many of the features of the Sheika Slate before, which I might presume Zelda would want/need back after the events of BOTW. Thus, when Link uses the time-reversal thing, it's probably his arm doing the actual activation. And, we might then see more Sheika tech abilities added to his combat capability, being that an arm might allow him to more naturally incorporate those abilities into his repertoire, rather than derping around like a tourist with an iPad.

    I have some theories:
    1) I get the feeling that they may move away from the breakable weapons, and shift back to the Master Sword being fully restored to its true power. Hence the triforce of courage glowing in Link's hand.
    2) I still think that Calamity Ganon was not the true reincarnation of Ganon / Demise, so all you did was seal away a large pool of sentient malice. The true threat is under the castle. I think that provides an in-game explanation of why you did not need the Master Sword to beat the game.
    3) If the sword has broken, does that mean that Demise's sealed consciousness will be released and take over that mummified body under the castle? What if the "Breach of Demise" was foreshadowing?

      The Breach of Demise was likely named because of its scary appearance, reminding people of the story of Demise and his army of demons rising from a rift in the ground to pursue the Triforce. Whether by coincidence, or by people thinking it actually WAS the underworld rift from ages past, people gave it that name. I think this game will focus on featuring the personality of Ganondorf once again, but it might have some actual reference to his origins worked in somehow. They seem intent on making good use of the Skyward Sword lore.

    • @zf5214
      @zf5214 2 года назад +9

      Point #2 is really interesting, because it suggests this game might have some limit on defeating the final boss. As in, you have to complete all steps to restore the master sword before you can defeat Ganondorf for good this time. No way to just fly straight to him and defeat him with a tree branch.

    • @disastressx117
      @disastressx117 2 года назад +7

      1. I think they'll still have breakable weapons, but you won't be able to defeat Ganondorf without the master sword restored. The master sword being "the sword that seals the darkness" and then not even having to use it against malice/calamity Ganon makes me think it will, indeed, play an integral role in the final fight.
      I wholeheartedly agree with #2. Calamity/Malice Ganon was by far the easiest Ganondorf/Ganon fight since since ALTTP. And it'd make sense that since Zelda didn't seal away the true incarnation of Ganondorf/Ganon, that he'd still be releasing malice into the world from his body.
      3. I never had the opportunity to play most og the games so I'm not familiar with that part of the lore. 😔

This, coupled with Link’s new strange abilities coming from his new arm, and his long, more wavy hair make me think that Ganondorf is actively trying to possess Link in this game, likely due to his normal body being mummified and perhaps has been cut off from accessing his true abilities. And not only will we need to purify and repair the Master Sword, but also Link himself.

It’s giving me chills cause thinking about it they gave SS a HD remake to give you the initial story of the series and explaining who FI is and after BOTW you jump into BOTW2 and BAM full circle kinda and this is all just me spitballing it gave me chills how I had this thought and now I can’t get over it

      It's going to be based on corruption but here you are clearly tasked to restore the boring Sword. Which is good - as the 'Green Hand' seems more refreshing and interesting than the Boring Sword in it's own right. If Fi does feature - that will be great lore like Skyward which was a far better game than Breath of the Empty.

    I like this way of getting the Master Sword "out of the way" in the beginning of the game so we can start depowered. It's different in that we will likely actually have it for the entire duration of the game but have to repair it or maybe find places in the sky to purify it. That gold glowing light in front of Link is maybe something to help heal it.
    I don't think that light on Link's hand has anything to do with the triforce but is the power of the hand/spirits/whatever possessed Link. It glows when he's using a power. It's cool to see it up close!
    And I'm a little disappointed about the delay but not much. We were all expecting an end of year release anyway so next spring isn't too much longer of a wait.

The only time i can think of where Link receives some type of power is when he was initially pulled into the Twilight infested Faron Woods and instead of Link becoming a spirit like all the other NPCs, the triforce of courage turns Link into a wolf. That’s about the only time the ToC helps him. Link doesn’t need the ToC to perform anything he’s done in the games, it’s simply all his skill that he rightfully earned

Then, Kratos gives all his energy into the Blade of Olympus after falling into a trick by Zeus, resetting his stats properly for the rest of the game. It happens in 3 as well; you have buffed health and magic from 2, as well as the Blade of Olympus itself, but then Kratos is thrown down to the river Stix which absorbs his old strength and resets him there as well.

    This is just my prediction but I think there is a real possibility that in the sequel to BOTW we could be riding the dragons!!!! Remember in BOTW when Naydra (the ice dragon) was corrupted/infested with malice and had to be freed by Link in the Spring of Wisdom side quest? This shows Ganon already showed interest in the elemental dragons and possibly wanted to use them as part of his corrupted/malice infested army to go along with the guardians and divine beasts. While in these trailers for the sequel we have seen Link and Zelda exploring what seems to be Zonai ruins, Link uses a new shield/dragon head flamethrower weapon, as well as the final shot of Hyrule castle levitating via malice including the same exact theme music that plays when a dragon shows up in the original BOTW game!!! I like to think that the Zonai tribe were good people that worshipped the dragons and chose to live among the clouds with them, because remember as stated in BOTW…..you have to be pure of heart to even be able to see the dragons! I think the new “floating islands” were the home of the Zonai tribe and I’m hoping Link and Zelda are gonna storm and take back Hyrule castle from Ganon while riding one of the elemental dragons with the others following!!! That’d be sooooo kick asssss

      I can definitely see the game being slightly more linear compared to the first, as a response to the negative story feedback. The game probably won't use memories since the timeline for this hyrule is already established, so the story may be happening in the present. In that case using the sword as a progression marker would make more sense. Either way, I think the master sword here is a big clue to the game having a new structure.

      @@GeorgeZimmermen They're not all masterpieces, but there are more than just a handful of classic games in the Zelda series. Except for Zelda II, the Oracles, the Four Swords games, Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks and Tri Force Heroes (that's 8 games on 19), every single other game in the series is considered a classic by a lot of people (yes even Skyward Sword, mostly for its story I guess). A few of them were genre defining when they got released (Zelda I, A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Breath of the Wild), the others perfected and played with the conventions of either the classic 2D formula (Link's Awakening, The Minish Cap, A Link Between Worlds) or the 3D formula (Majora's Mask, The Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword). These 11 games are masterpieces. The Oracles games are actually really good too, and Zelda II, while having a lot of glaring issues, still was really important to the development of the series. That really only leaves 5 games that were kinda mediocre, and three of them are multiplayer almost ''party'' Zelda games. Zelda is a monument in gaming history, and that's why.

    The glow could have something to do with the bow of light. When you fire a arrow of light into the sky or distance, after a certain while, it just breaks like the master sword beam, after breaking, it leaves a golden glow similar to the one seen in this video.

  • @currychan109
    @currychan109 2 года назад +3

    When it comes to the pulsing light being slightly different from Fi's communication in the BotW flashback, it could just be that they decided to adjust the visual effect to make it a little more noticeable. Back when they decided on the original effect, they might not have yet known it'd be an important visual cue in the sequel, so it wasn't initially designed with that in mind. A little bit of touching up how it looks like would be more or less expected, so I wouldn't take the slight difference as an indication that it means something different. The light relating to Fi sounds the most plausible to me.

That coupled with the markings being a different color than the strange arm and even covering parts of it suggests that it's likely just part of the clothing set. Kind of like the warpaint on the Barbarian Set.

    What I gather:
    We all know this is kind of parallel to Princess Mononoke, Link is experiencing a kind of curse. I think the curse is Ganondorf taking over link, attempting to possess him if you will. Why? Because he ends up with the triforce of courage every time and he wants that power. The curse could also just be game over if it takes over Link, as in, he dies from it consuming him. I think that someone crafted the arm piece for him to slow it's spread and that someone is either Purah/Robbie or the monks and maybe both. I would not be surprised if Link has to do something to keep it from spreading or if we are facing some sort of clock - such as the one in Majora's Mask.
    I think we also might be going to space. Maybe we will visit another world? Something beyond. I know this: He's not mentioning underground. He's not mentioning undersea. We've been there. But space is an untouched space and it's 'larger'. I think it may have a larger story than we think and that we are going to have to go back to when time and space were created to solve this one.
    I'm excited. I need more though...we have been waiting for so long and all we got was a few seconds. I want to see a little more!!! I know I'm not alone. XD

    Something I don’t think I’ve ever heard mentioned is how much the prosthetic arm and green energy match the markings on Midna’s arms. I would love a return to a reverse plane of Hyrule. This could be extrapolated from Zelda’s “…steeped in the glowing embers of twilight…” from the memory where she consecrates Link as the Goddess’s chosen hero

    On Link's green garb over his left shoulder, we can see the tail of a dragon in the same style as what's on the traveler's shield (This dragon somewhat resembles the dragon head in Zonai ruins, Ganondorf's armor in Twilight Princess HD, and the flamethrower shield in the second trailer). In the second trailer during the falling scene, we see that the back of this same garment likewise has a tail, though it has low enough resolution that we could be missing the head details.

    The delay is obviously a mixed blessing. I was hoping to spend my holiday, among other things, playing this game. If they say they need more time, I can respect that and trust that when they DO deliver the product, it'll be in peak condition/form.
    However, I gotta say, if the main crux of this game is repairing the Master Sword...idk how I feel about that. Because we've more or less done that several times already. We basically forged and awakened it in Skyward Sword, we unlocked its power in Wind Waker, and we powered it up in the BotW DLC. And since Skyward Sword is among my least favorite Zelda games, and this game having a strong sky element, it just makes me feel uneasy.
    But BotW is my 2nd favorite Zelda game, and with them putting plenty of time and care into the game, as well as the rise in some great open world games to draw inspiration from since 2017, I have enough faith that I'll enjoy this game.

    I think maybe the gold light, is sort of the same as the “turning back time” ability that Link seems to have in the new game. I completely agree it could be restoring the master sword to its previous state. Yes it could also be Zelda’s power but I think Link could have manifested that himself. Potentially the point of the game is to master that ability? So he can restore the master sword? Or maybe it’s just the gods power or something.
    This is totally speculation and theories.
