What do you think about Tears of the Kingdom??
EDIT: the figure seemingly levitating shown on the carvings looks very similar to the "Zelda" carving, so it could well be her rather than Ganondorf!
I was crying and screaming and im so happy
Amazing how so little footage can mean so much 🙌🏻
I fricking love it.
Very hyped

It feels like this teaser was created for people like you to analyze. There's more in the subtext than the surface level trailer. I'm glad we got a name though! Tears of the Kingdom. TotK
My favourite horror analyser commenting on my favourite Legend of Zelda theorizer, an incredible combination!
Knew there would be marks like you that look to deep into things. This was a pathetic teaser trailer with little to no gameplay and nothing new shown.
I think it's Obvious that Zelda unintentionaly became the Pioneer off Selfpromoting Franchises through an absolute Nerdy Community. Nintendo realized this now.
Go back to commenting scary movies
Woah czsworld is in the coments. Hells yeah
I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this but I'm wondering if that figure in the carvings could be the Zonai depiction of Hylia. So the figures with hands cupped to each other could be a representation of the duality of Hylia's life. First as a goddess but then a mortal.
wtf Zeltik ist so schlecht geworden, das ist viel besser ruclips.net/video/BtB4FebTSnU/видео.html

Ohh I really like that idea. The duality of Hylia as both Goddess Hylia and the Hylian Zelda. That could match the duality of Demise's reincarnations as the beast Ganon and the Gerudo Ganondorf. Unlike past games where Ganondorf either becomes Ganon or reincarnates already as Ganon, somehow we see Ganondorf separated himself from the beast Ganon.... we killed Calamity Ganon (and not necessarily with the Master Sword!!) in Breath of the Wild yet see Ganondorf's body in the Tears of the Kingdom trailer.
Perhaps this new game will deal with ending Demise's curse: The return of Hylia allowing Zelda to live her own Life; The final defeat of Ganondorf now that Ganon is gone as well. Even if I'm completely wrong it's exciting to think about the possibilities!!
I love that idea!
Something interesting about the 'soldiers'. Nintendo drew them in such a way to draw attention to the fact that they're all left handed. Nintendo has been very deliberate about these sorts of design choices in the past (think various incarnations of Link that popped up in the other games, like the Hero's Shade), which leads me to believe that it's probably referring to Link. I'm not sure if the number of soldiers might infer some sort of relation to his various incarnations, but I think it's likely as well.
And the dead one being the timeline where link dies? If so I might be able to finally accept that timeline as a given 😄
What about the ones on the bottom that look like they are holding a shield with their left hands
@@supergoodle5520 Twilight Princess, specifically on the Wii 😂
@@supergoodle5520 I think the ones on the bottom are holding the shield in their right hand too because the shield's facing towards us, hence mirrored
Ok, I counted 15 of those soldiers and, if you don't count the multiplayer games (Four Swords, Four Swords Adventure and Triforce Heroes) there's 17 mainline Zelda games, minus Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom gives us 15. 15 soldiers, 15 previous single player titles. Heck, maybe there's 3 soldiers that we can't see properly making it 18 soldiers and 18 previous titles. Think about it
I got major Twili from Twilight Princess vibes. The colour scheme. the symbols. The Twili were originally a tribe of magic users who were banished from Hyrule by the godesses for trying to use the Triorce. Add in the figure being surrounded by the seven tears which you also have to collect tears of light also in twilight princess. I could really go on. The more I think the more I see honestly.
Twili = Twilight
Zonai = Zone
Link has just crossed over into the Twilight Zone.
The twili were also long necked humanoids.
Honestly this seems accurate. Could the figure in the murals be Midna? I know it's a stretch but it's not like characters always look the same. I would love to see a connection to the Twilight realm represented here. Thanks for the theory, I really like it
Honestly when I saw the outline on the bottom half of the master sword on the logo I immediately thought of Twilight Princess and the Twili’s architecture/design motifs in the game
@@Thorumar that's literally exactly what I was thinking.
I truly do believe that the unknown being in this is Hylia's true form surrounded by the sacred tears. Also, the unknown being and Zelda have the same hands and hair design which even further makes me believe it is Hylia. ALSO that music at the VERY end sounds like a modernized version of Silent Realm theme and I find it ironic the sound plays when TEARS of the kingdom pops up. Go listen and then come back and tell me what you think.
The entity and Zelda joining hands could signify the mortal incarnation of Hylia as Zelda, which would work. Also, Hylia being the goddess of Time, it would make sense to be giving Link a power that reverses time on objects!
100% agree with this theory. I feel like this game is going to be a spiritual successor to Skyward Sword and tie together the two games.
@@WauryD Exactly why I believe it is Hylia.
yeah!! my thought process when i saw the being was
"naboris?"
"HYLIA????"
I think that being is Vaati. It resembles his feral looking minish form. There's also tearless sheikah eyes everywhere, which were not on BotW's mural. It's interesting that it's clearly depicted in this one. That eye is associated with evil tribes practicing black magic throughout the games. Vaati dabbled in black magic pretty dang hard

@@NoxLegend1 you mean like he's on the payroll? Could def be.
I’m 100% invested in the idea that the tears are going to hold the same significance that the tear in the sheikah eye logo holds, meaning we’ll learn more about them! And I do believe those vials will be to store the tears as you collect them 🙌
This could be like TP where we have to collect some sort of substance and take it to someone in order to lever up. Or it could be how Link levels up
All of the eyes in the stone carvings look like the sheikah symbol without the tear. The eye with 3 triangles on it. I find this quite interesting as well
I love the fact that we will be fighting more physical enemies, other than just Moblins and Bokoblins. In previous clips we have seen some worm-like enemy hanging from the roof of a cave, and at 5:54 we can see a flying enemy, possibly some Aeralfos type of enemy. This is bloody great news!
But it's still flying forwards despite Link doing the time thing? What's that about
@@tomtative I thought the time reverse deal only affects the object.
@@AttacMage oh yeah you're right
Mb gang🙌
the flying enemy reminded me of a shadow kargarok
it reminded me a bit of a loftwing, actually- though that might just be wishful thinking on my part
We've seen 7 symbols around the mysterious figure, wich would represent 7 corresponding temples. At the end we see Zelda holding hands with the figure with an eighth symbol (or tear) referring to the final temple/ boss/ challenge. We also see some fuses at links hip. There are 8 parts. I think every time you clear a temple, a fuse will glow up, which will also result in a new ability for Link's hand.🖖
That actually makes a lot of sense I think you might have figured it out
damn, that would be legit.
I could see this being true. I definitely though the 7 things were tears and therefore potential dungeons
I think the symbols are meant to represent 7 tears to gather at each temple to restore the master sword, not for new hand abilities
Am I the only 1 that was thinking the 7 maiden statues from BOTW?
Maybe the meditating figure could be the Zonai's interpretation of the Goddess Hylia? It would explain its connection to the seven sages and Zelda, along with the power to seal off Ganon for as long as he was.
that's what I thought!
Possibly. Then again, it's technically Ganondorf they're sealing, not Ganon.
I'm so sorry I posted a com.ent I didn't see yours!
Honestly disappointed that not everyone picked up on this. They’ve always used owls to represent the wisdom part of the triforce/zelda/hylia and this figure tied to zelda has a massive owl mask on. I don’t think they could have made it more clear Thisnis the zonais religious representation of Hylia
Well it is interesting because there's actually 6 sages and Zelda being the 7th. Correct me if I'm wrong but Zelda is also the literal embodiment of the Goddess Hylia, meaning she was present twice in the engraving. So it could be a different being altogether, or I'm looking too much into it and everything just is centered around the Goddess.
I think the Link in the tunic we saw with the primitive axe might be a past version we can play as. The reversal of time might be a huge gameplay mechanic, so we see the Zonai and Ganondorf back in a time where they still were alive. If some theories here are true and the picture in stone depicts goddess Hylia, then the dragon we saw might be depicting the aspect of her, just like the other 3 are for the other goddesses.
Of cause all we got right now are speculations but i'm sure they gonna mess with time a bit more than mere time reversal of objects.
@@bestwaifu3852 Oh, i didn't notice! Thanks for pointing that out.
Rewatching this after the game has come out, you were actually rather close! Congrats, man!
The platform the strange figure is standing on is the flying platform that Link lands on at the end of the trailer.
The way I read that is that Link is either a prophesied hero for this lost civilisation, or he's a reborn version of that hero.
The image depicting a Zelda like figure falling fits with prophecy, given the previous trailers show Zelda falling in to darkness.
I'm getting huge "restoration" vibes from this game.
The most notable being the ouroboros iconography, cycles beginning anew and going back to what once was. Then there's the time shifting mechanics literally putting things back where they came from, restoring them to a previous state of being. The way they've shot it makes me feel like link is trying to restore things back to a time before the current Hyrule, and maybe even before the events that took place 10,000 years prior.
The name "Tears" reminds of the tears of light mechanics from previous games, especially Twilight's version where you're retrieving them to literally restore a region back to what it once was before the twilight took over.
The symbolism of the Mastersword being broken and seemingly being 'restored' by some sort of green magic on the title screen.
I think that is what the theme of this game is going to be. Where Breath of the Wild was about freedom, I think Tears of the Kingdom will be about restoring the kingdom to what it once was.
Tears is a really good name then because it also represents the kingdom being torn apart
I kind of think that this is the end of the series... The games have a constant cycle of good vs evil because of demise and perhaps this is where they put an end to the curse which could be the meaning behind the symbol? The tears could be the suffering that Hyrule has endured over evil for generations. But that's really just speculation
I like your analysis
@@trevdoesweirdthings I doubt they would end the zelda series unless you mean like no more games will take place after this game in the timeline. but i can't wait to play the game. My wife and kids are most likely going to get annoyed by me as it will be hard for me to put it down after work and dinner. Good thing the switch is portable and i bought a 10,000 mAh battery that is also a grip plus i have another 9000 mAh battery that i can connect to the grip which will basically let me play my switch for 10 to 12 hours depending on the game.
Tears in the Japanese version of the title refers to crying, not rifts. Seeing as they're constantly in the sky and on land, it's probably referring to an ancient kingdom in the sky, basically going back to Skyward Sword which could hint at you rebuilding or fixing the Master Sword, seeing that it looked corrupted or broken in previous trailers. The tears most likely refer to the kingdom and the world falling part as more of the the footage in the sky are the various piece of lands.
I think the color for the dragon looks exactly like Naydra from a distance, the low poly model that they use when you’re far off. Go to the Lanayru Pomenade and compare when Maydra appears around Mount Lanayru rather than when you’re right next to it.
Exactly. The dragon is literally blue.
I was looking for this comment lol I was literally gonna say it's just Naydra in the background, not a new dragon 😂 although I'm SURE there's some sort of new dragon related thing in there lol
Aw man you stole my comment!
I was going to comment that dragon looks just like Naydra too!
Yeah when he said that I was like that's dumb, they're literally the same.
The carving of Zelda depicts her being sacrificed. This happened to her and the 7 maidens in LTTP due to Agahnim.
You can see her pointed ears in that carving too. Surprised no one else mentioned this
"The cycle finally coming to an end." I had goosebumps when you said that. The vibe of the trailers we've seen so far, the title and the state of Hyrule make me wonder if they have decided that this zelda would be the last. I doubt it as they wouldn't give up such a license obviously, but still I feel like it could be the last of a kind. I don't know, but know having that in mind I somehow feel weird about it...
It could well be the "last" in the timeline, with future titles being set before BOTW (similar to how Fusion was the "last" in the Metroid timeline before Dread was released, even though there were the entire prime trilogy, Zero Mission, Other M and AM2R released inbetween)
I highly doubt it, it's not Nintendo's way.
No if anything I think this is going to be the end of the "Hylia vs Demise" story arc. Sort of like "Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker" was the end of the "Hydaelyn vs Zodiark" story arc that had been building since the 1.0 release of the game. I think after this game it will be an entirely new story arc beginning. I think what we're seeing is the final incarnations of Hylia, Her Chosen Champion, and Demise. The next game will feature new characters that will carry on their legacy, but face totally new challenges and enemies completely free of Demise's curse. I think the other likely option is this will be last of this current Zelda, and the game after this will be a Hard Reboot of the franchise.
One thing I haven’t seen pointed out is the winged creature in the time reverse rubble ascent. It’s definitely not a bird or a keese (unless keese got a major malice overhaul like the blins), meaning NEW FLYING ENEMY in addition to what I think is a leever (the thing that Link sprays with fire) and that weird golem thing
That is an interesting observation, I believe the golem might just be an Eyegore, but they're a very rare zelda enemy so I could be wrong
That flying creature reminds me of the kargaroks in Twilight Princess.
The flying thing is a demobat from Stranger Things s4...
The flying thing might be a vire which for those who don't know is the result of a culmination of keese.
Yes! Was just gonna comment this.
Things I noticed:
1. The floating symbols around the carving of the Sage-ish person are shaped like Amber relics from Skyward Sword
2. 7:09 there's a giant hole in the ground, I believe where a Sheikah tower used to be. We've noted them missing in previous trailers but I don't know if we've ever seen actual craters where they used to stand.
3. The dragons on the giant door are forming a circle, but are facing each other at the top of the door and are connected at the bottom. This seems significant as opposed to the more Ouroboros-like design at the end. Perhaps showing how forces that used to be used to balance each other out are now in a cycle of endlessly consuming each other? Maybe that cycle is what we will be stopping in TOTK before it destroys Hyrule?
I have to agree on your third point. One thing that stuck out to me is how much the stone bird glider resembled the loftwings from Skyward Sword. Combine that with the time reversal power and the oroboros symbolism, plus your interpretation, it could mean we will be trying to break the curse of Demise from Skyward Sword. After all, that curse is an oroboros in itself- Link and Zelda were forced to be reincarnated to fight Demise's evil repeatedly since, so what if this game is breaking the cycle to put the forces of life and death, plus those of good and evil, back to being balanced? But not just defeating Demise or Ganondorf again, but to cleanse them of their darkness in their entirety, even if that means they are completely destroyed with no means of revival.
I think that's the location of the Ridgeland Tower, so it's a lake rather than a hole, but either way the towers are oddly missing. As are the shrines and Divine Beasts
I think the doors have the dragons facing each other because the two forces are ready to face each other. Or maybe face each other when they’re in those dungeons/temples?
@@ardain984 It seems to be Ridgeland tower indeed. And you might be right, maybe the bodies of water are all gone/evaporated or something and this hole/crater is all that is left. We have not seen much water in this world, to be honest..
5:38 Faron tower is gone too!!!

The owl glider heading toward the light symbol could be a fast travel system. The falling animation with the glider catching him looks like Link is summoning it, and then you would either gain control after the camera fixes back to behind Link, or just enjoy the ride toward the symbol but be able to hop off early if you’d like to go somewhere else.
This is a great point, especially due to the fact that we haven't seen the sheikah slate iirc
From what we know, it really only makes sense that the mysterious figure is a depiction of Hylia. Hylia and Zelda crossing arms as to join each other makes thematic sense and the 7 tears could be depictions of the seven sources of power that the sages derive their power from. The sages have been closely related to Zelda and by transitive properties, Hylia.
I like to think that this depicts an alternate and/or primordial form of the Goddess Hylia
It's clearly just the god/leader of the Zonai. Why would Hylia be interacting with herself?
Exactly!
@@AnAmericanMusician I assume he meant what is believed to be Princess Zelda in the video. its Hylia
Even still, whom is this Zonai
..
Nevermidn new thoery!!!
Yeah kinda reminiscent of the globes of energy Zelda pull out during the final battle of zelda tp; that also centers around Zelda very similar to the carving in this trailer.
My theory is that the Zonai were never actually on the surface of Hyrule. The Zonai are what the people called the Skyloftians/other sky people when the pieces started falling from the sky.
At some point between the old games and BotW, the sky islands started to fall. This brought back the belief and knowledge of Hylia as well as the people that lived in the sky.
From the moment this dropped I knew we'd get a deep dive and hype-strengthening video from you. I'm only ashamed it took me a day to get around to watching it, but not only am I not disappointed, but am now reaching levels of excitement for this game thanks to you hitherto thought impossible.
With the malice pouring out from wherever it can, maybe "Tears" of the Kingdom is the ripping 'tear' instead of the crying 'tear.' 🤔
The malice has torn open wounds in the kingdom of Hyrule, hence "Tears of the Kingdom."
We haven't heard the subtitle of the game spoken yet, so we don't know for sure which it is.
Everyone seems to be assuming it's the 'tears' for crying.
(summarized definitions)
Tear: a fluid appearing in or flowing from the eye as the result of emotion.
or
Tear: to pull apart or in pieces by force; to make a tear or rent.
I like it. Neat idea.
The name in japanese is pronounce as tear of a liquid flowing from the eye
No good theory but not true because the Japanese translation is teardrops as in crying tears
That is very interesting I hadn’t heard of that
the things around this divine entity in the beginning are probably the tears. and they also looks like the tears that you need to collect in Skyward sword.
I'd say more like the Tears of Light from TP. Even the way the vine curls for the lot of them.
@@TheDapperDragon i think those vials on links hip are the tears of light maybe he uses them dofferently or maybe he needs to clear twilight from places

The art style of the magic hand and the being in the carving looks like it could even be a nod to the twili and midna.
And the tip of the master sword looks Twili
@@epiclight858 In addition, it's nearly the exact same colour as the twili portals used by Midna during TP
Yeah that's what I was thinking, the new things head also kinda looks like Midna's style of helmet
@@SuperDababy2 Zonai are connected to the Interlopers for sure
@@michealmaccraith8663 could also explain where they went
I think there is also a lot of symbolism to the old Wind Tribe from Minish Cap, with the upside down eye symbol shown available in the Four Sword Temple and with Vaati.
I feel like there are more connections to other Zelda games with this one, with references to other places like Skyloft or the Wind Tribe, things that havent been mentioned save for their games they were in.
The green/black and the tears immediately gave me Twilight Princess vibes. If you look at the design on Midna's broken headpiece there are 2 serpent/dragon looking creatures on it and behind them is a symbol that looks very similar to the "tears" surrounding the "mysterious figure". The strange ears also really remind me of Midna in her imp form. Also interesting that the Zoni people vanished suddenly.... where did they go? Twilight? It'll be so exciting to find out, but I would bet a lot on the theory that the Zoni = the Twili.
I just noticed something about the trailer: the bird that link passes while he's riding the rock up to the floating islands isn't a bird at all. It has bat like wings and a forked tail. It must be a new enemy type.
that mid-air battling we've been salivating over from the patent filing!!
I hope so. They really need some more enemy variety instead of just different colored moblins.
Hopefully Keese are back and alongside them older enemies like gibdos, poes etc
This is the best analysis of the trailer by far. And the fact that you uploaded this just a few hours after the Direct is amazing!
In regards to the way the Master Sword looks on the logo, maybe this time the temporary use of the Master Sword is going to be more pronounced. Where the green energy makes it into a full blade and when expended it's not a full sword anymore.
BRILLIANT connections between the title Tears of the Kingdom, and how it describes Hyrule's renewing conflict of war and sorrow through the logo. Your theories and conclusions on them make me super hyped for what's to come!
To think of how Nintendo built all these amazing details around the zonai, who were just meant to be a mysterious race with ruins around Breath of the Wild, now turned to this it's amazing
Well well well... Another famous Zelda RUclipsr. Perhaps a co-op video is in order. I do watch you both frequently.
I think it’s also a play on the word tiers, since there are now multiple tiers (platforms) around Hyrule.
IMO I don't think it is tears like 😢, but rather "tears", literally, pieces of an ancient kingdom. If my memory doesn't fail me, one of the reason the title was kept a secret for such a long time was because it, supposedly, gave hint of the plot, and seeing the trailer now, for me it's just logical that these are the pieces of a torn kingdom floating around.
My guess is that the figure shown at the beginning is the Goddess Hylia. And at the end, Hylia is the one with Zelda representing Hylia becoming mortal and reincarnating into Zelda. I don’t think it’s coincidence that when the game starts taking to the sky like in Skyward Sword that the goddess Hylia has a more prevalent role. The snake eating itself fits the cycle of incarnation. So I think the plot will be recovering Zelda and Hylia’s power as tears like we’ve done in previous games with the 7 sages or crystal maidens and possibly ending the cycle of incarnation or the cycle of calamities.
They would not end the cycle, as that would mean no more Zelda games.
@@me-42by42 Nintendo for sure doesn't want to put an end to the franchise yet, but it doesn't mean they can't show what happens at the end of this timeline and go backwards from there. they can always make games wherever in between the start and the end, or simply in between other existing games explaining what happened during those gaps
@@me-42by42 no it wouldnt, it would just mean the end of this timeline, we will still have two others to explore caused by the events of OoT
That could be interesting.
@@me-42by42 Not necessarily. There could be other Zelda villains ala Vaati, Bellum, or Majora, or like Ombra Blu said, fill in the gaps between the Era of Myth and Breath of the Wild.

This map section just outside of the doors leading to the structure looks very similar to the left side of the “Hyrule Castle” map in Super Smash Bros Melee. The Melee stage is also floating similar to the islands shown in the trailer.
Something I'd like to mention, though I don't know if anyone else has already said it, is how the device on Link's waist is similar in design to the statue you use to help Ilia regain her memory in Twilight Princess. Gor mentions that it belonged to the long lost Sheikah tribe in that game leading to the hidden village and Sheikah sage of sorts.
The colors of that dragon definitely do match up to naydra, it’s just hard to spot. I doubt we’ll meet new dragons, but I have no doubt we’ll definitely see much more of the old ones.

I completely disagree, colors are nothing like any of the normal dragons
Yeah when he said they don't match I was like "what are you talking about, they're literally Naydra's colours".

Yeah, he then showed naydra right after
The tears heavily resemble the tears you collect in skyward sword from the dragons in those spirit challenges. The general purpose of which was to be used to eventually power up the goddess sword into the master sword. Perhaps that process will be what occurs to fix the broken master sword. The chiming sound when the title appears also sounds EXACTLY like the chime sounds in the silent realms. Check Nayru's Silent Realm in the OST, it's the SAME.
The design was first seen in TP, but yeah it's likely another riff on it if I have to guess. I just don't want to have another silent realm type thing, shit was hard and scary
I hope we get more spirit challenges. Those were sooo fun and bit terrifying.

Awesome analysis man, picked up on details I missed. Tears of the Kingdom is shaping up to be amazing, I can't imagine what is in store for us but I'll be keeping an eye on your channel for coverage!
The Oroboros dragons make me think that the timeline is cyclical- like that THIS Link and Zelda are the ones that are featured in Skyward Sword’s backstory.
That's.. really clever actually !
And i think that this might be true
I was thinking similarly. Maybe this Zelda ascends to become Hylia during TotK, thus positioning her to become the first Zelda in Skyward Sword.
Link and Zelda from skyward sword are the same from the backstory. They travel through time. There's a lot of theories supporting that and even the game kind of tells you. They are the first hero and the first goddess reincarnation
@@JorgeRodriguez-xz5ec I totally see that argument, but I also wonder about BEFORE Demise was sealed the first time. When he talks about Hylia’s initial divine form, it’s different than SS Zelda, and I don’t think SS Link ever saw/fought him before that. Maybe there was no hero before him, but there was definitely stuff that happened. Some crazy stuff would have to go down for the lore to match though.
the technology in the past of skyward sword may be the same as the sheikah stuff in botw. (both feature light blue electricity and both the guardians in botw and the robots in ss are based on jomon pottery). Also both skyward sword and botw feature hylia as a godess actively being worshipped (no other zelda game does that). the pure hatred of ganon in the form of malice could be the new starting point to form demise. Also the sky islands are a clear parallel. if the owner of the hhand is hylia, she could be the one lifting up the islands immediately after ganondorfs bane is broken. another thing worth mentioning is that the eyes of presumably zelda are shaped like the sheikah eye just missing a tear, a TEAR. fitting eh? So the tear of the sheikah may actually be a reminder to the next cycle that its going to repeat, because the sheikah, as keeper of myths are the only race understanding the fabric of the universe and are thus so secretive. Sorry for the long text, just wanted to share some thoughts.
I would argue that two dragons eating each other is very different from one eating itself. I think it has to do with the idea of two things mutually coexisting and harming each other at the same time. Perhaps that good and evil = life, and that this cycle of good and evil destroying each other is what makes Hyrule go around? Or maybe that the Zonai and another culture cannot exist together, and both will wipe out each other?
Love this idea
I also think that the two characters cupping hands (one of whom is most likely Zelda) is meant to symbolize this also
Honestly i think it is still a cycle of eternity like how it is used in the wheel of time series
Could also refer to the Hero (Link) and Ganon(dorf) being forced to fight each other over and over again for all eternity as they are constantly reincarnated
@@CrazyFlyingMonk So many parallels to Wheel of Time!
It`s just amazing how many theories exist around Zelda in general and right now for the next game.
Especially here in the comments, working hand in hand with the video and further build on it, i love it! ^^
Soon as I saw there was a new trailer (at long last!) I immediately bee-lined for your channel. Your content & analysis quality have always distinguished you amongst your peers. Can’t wait for Tears of the Kingdom & all the brilliant work you’ll produce along with it.
Would you ever consider a Let’s Play, once it releases? It would be so exciting to see you react to the game for the first time, & see the details you pick up on.
I believe we've seen these tears in a previous trailer already. In the second trailer, there's a scene where a puddle forms a droplet then goes upward. Right after, Link is flying upward surrounded by a green energy. He phases into a floating platform and pops out the other side, crawling out of a green puddle. This green energy and the droplet are probably one and the same. The tears could be items you collect, used to fuel Links new abilities. Those vials he carries are most likely full of tears he's collected. We might even get a tear meter as a replacement for the magic meter.
This is a great insight. Maybe the amount of tears you have determine how high up you can leap to something above you and/or how dense of an object you can phase through?
I like these ideas! Perhaps they take the place of the sheikah tablet’s abilities, and we unlock up to 7 in total! I hope they’re assigned to specific dungeons to have fun puzzle solving elements
Yeah I was thinking the same thing
@@akeanu1907 My thoughts exactly
I think it's very intriguing how we get two different depictions of the dragons. We have the ones eating each other's tails in the logo, but on the door they meet head first, and even more interestingly, the gesture Zelda and the other figure make with their hands in the stone carving kinda represents the symbol on the large door.
VERY good observations
OMG the dragon! I totally missed that and now Im even more excited!! Great video as always mate.
@Zeltik I think the little containers on link’s hip are filled with actual “tears of the kingdom.” I believe These tears are used to power his hand and certain abilities. I believe he can collect these tears at the spot where the swirling green aurora is coming up from the ground. Kinda like a fairly fountain!!! Maybe these spots of glowing green aurora are where ancient Zonai battles were fought in the past and allied foes were killed, and only their tears remain! Just a thought :)
one of the theories I've heard, is that the 7 things around that mysterious figure could be 7 tears you need to collect. As someone pointed out that Link has something on his hip that looks like the container for the tears of light from TP, or the container for the spirit realms from SS.
one thing about SS is that those symbols also look like the spirit stones you collect while doing the silent realm trials
You might need to collect energy to raise the platforms to find new islands.
2:22 actually that reminded me of Ghirahim's ritual in skyward sword, with Zelda floating in the air like that,so I initially thought about Zelda (long hair like in the sheika tapestry in botw,or at least, her ancestor from 10000 years prior) and her (now awakened) power used for some ritual
Like the tapestry saying that the heroic and the princess fought together then this could be like the second half of a profecy or stuff like that (but from zonai mythology or legends, since the style seems different than the tapestry and looks like it's engraved on rocks, like the other zonai monuments)
4:10 I am actually very proud to say that I thought all by myself about the magic meter coming back (no sheikah slate, probably incorporated with the new half zonai magic-half sheikah tech and, most importantly,✨️green✨️)
6:26 did you notice perhaps that the area from where the rock is pulled is faron (more precisely the top part of the waterfalls of lake floria) which actually coincide with the location of the biggest amount of zonai monuments
Ever since the second trailer, I find myself going back to the idea that the new islands are actually summoned from the triforce, and is actually the sacred golden realm brought back to hyrule by a wish that ganon had made millennia ago, though he was sealed before he could finish his wish.
appreciate you! This was nice. I am so excited.
The meditating figure has a lot of sevens in it interestingly. Seven "locks of hair" (or whatever those extensions are) to each side. Six extensions off both of its "ears", which with its face make another seven. Six "tear drop" patterns beneath its eyes (which resemble the Sheikah symbol; Zelda's depiction also shows that pattern; three triangles also draw a natural parallel with the Triforce). Whole lot of symbolism packed in there. I also feel like it might be wearing a mask rather than this depiction being its natural face, since it otherwise seems human.
The locks of hair/tears could be related to that era's sages
The mask is most likely true since the figure on the mountain looks the same but also looks like a human to me
Breath of the Wild’s story was more about handling unfinished business and making things right after failing miserably. Tears of the kingdom will probably focus on the lore and truth behind Ganondorf and the ancient hero.
Considering the existance of shrines, botw was more about preparing for the real threat in totk
@@heinrichvonschnitzel8600 lol now I gotta get used to reading totk as Tears of the Kingdom, too many comments I just had no idea.
Great stuff as always! What I really hope to see next is the comparison of Hyrule's land mass from BotW to the shot when Link lands on the bird glider.
Well done Zeltik. Will be waiting for more exciting reveals in the coming months up to release.
Worth noting that the scene that shows Link grabbing onto the stone going up into the sky also shows a cave in the mountainside. No clue if this was in the original game's map, but it looks unfamiliar to me. They really might have us going underground too. I think this might actually mean that the scene that follows takes place underground, rather than in the sky.
I do wonder if the mysterious figure is related to Hylia, considering how much they seem to resemble a deity. Could also just be a new character, but I find Hylia an especially interesting possibility.
that same shot also shows some dragon or bat like enemy flying fairly high up in the sky
Might also be Midna's people with how the design is
I think it might be somewhere at the Faron region, judging by the palms you can see to the right, but i could be wrong.
@@dijoi2176 Yeah, I'll probably try and find it when I get a chance to confirm.
@@d_houde Some bird or something. Apparently Nintendo's patents related to this game had some sky combat, so it might be some sort of new enemy. Doubt it's particularly important. Could just be a way for them to help show you are going into the sky.
If you look at the official key art that got released today, you can see that roughly were Rito village is at, there is a massive tornado.
This leads me to believe that the Zora will also have some trouble as well and this will change up the landmass as well
Where can I find it?
Could this be something similar to how each of the divine beasts had a corresponding elemental blight, that each region has some sort of natural disaster with their element and/or malice? Like how Death Mountain is “erupting” with malice, the storm you mentioned could also be malice induced, and the other main villages (Zora and Gerudo) could be having a water/ice and lightning themed disaster as well? You brought up a good thing to discuss, so kudos to you.
Edit: I just took another look at the released art, and it looks like the storm around Rito Village has some red in it, like the eruption at Death Mountain, so they both seem to be very malice-like disasters
Hm, I wouldn't want the Zora being frozen again. We've seen that already... BUT, on the other hand, I do want to have significant differences to the map we know from BotW. That would be the case if Zora's Domain turned out to be frozen again. So I will not complain about it
@@elli_senfsaat There's a chance that it's be gonna flooded with malice
@@Shadow_Eminence5876 I did not notice that about red in the tornado, that's a good catch!
I also appreciate the compliment, I normally post these types of things over on Zelda Universe
I agree with you and I think it works well for changing things up but still the same slightly.
With the Gorons and Rita's dealing with a natural disaster that would easily up end them, I would like for the Zora to deal with a drought since we have seen them dealing with ice before but on that note, I feel like the Gerudo should deal with snow or ice as it would heavy effect them.
This is the best analysis for this trailer I've seen period. It covers everything I'd thought about (finally someone pointed out the vials/scrolls?). I can't wait to play this game, kind of wish it was May already! It's been a good year for games, seems that trend will continue for years to come.
In the last clip as well, they have the shrine quest where you had to strike the symbol in the mountains with a shock arrow. im forgetting the name but the symbol is visible in the top right while he's floating towards the glowing green markings. I think it's interesting there might be shrine quests again or even different obstacles with the same original quests. this is so interesting!
In the shot of Link falling at the end, we could see something that looked like a pit, but I realized is actually the water surrounding Ridgeland Tower (which is obviously not there anymore). However, on the right of that, either on Lindor’s Brow or somewhere between there and the cliff where Maag No’rah Shrine is, there is a tower structure that doesn’t exist in BotW.
I noticed this too. Looking forward to more complete analysis videos that acknowledge it
The towers are not there more then likely do to the fact that the Castle is currently above ground and covered in malice.
Ganondorf probably did this to shut off the ancient Shiekah tech from being used by Link and everyone else.
Such a short trailer, but *packed* with stuff. I love the more energetic and colourful vibe they're going for. Gives a real mystical feeling!
Nice to see here!😄
My only complaint is that it didn't have music for you to remix
@@taker601 I'm gonna try anyway xD
Yeah, it’s crazy how much info we can get out of a short trailer.
Really looking forward to this game! Zeltik is my go to channel for all Zelda related news / speculation, by far the best!
I was waiting for this! Thanks
3:45 - 3:48 I just noticed this, but it looks almost like the spot where Link is pushing on the door is carved with a Sheika eye.
4:40 The dragon's color actually looks like Naydra to me, the bluish underbelly with Blue/white spikes, though I could be wrong. Wonder if these sky islands are where the cloud portal that the Dragons would fly through in BotW goes.
5:30 This looks like the area around the Lake Floria Waterfalls, or somewhere else along the southwestern cliffside of the continent.
5:52 That giant storm cloud on the left, swirling around the islands looks intense.
Your note about maybe it being where the dragons go is a big thing to me because in the other trailer the song ends with the same instrument used for the dragons (the name is escaping me) but maybe this is the realm and link has more to do with them like in skyward? Would also add to the dragon theme of the symbol and also the zonai using them etc
Excellent job as always Zeltik!
So many chills from this trailer!
I was waiting for your video mate!
I can't believe that the green writing on that mountaintop is actually a figure!
Now I can't unsee it, great job Zeltik
I think we are going to find out more about the Zonai! All the art related with the green energy seems to have the Aztec/ South American culture art that’s associated with them. I’m thinking the Zonai originally dealt with Ganon before others, killed him and then trapped his body with the hand. So the malice is Ganon trying to reform and destroy.
The imagery from the logo and the glyphs really feel like they are pulling a lot from the twili. The costume of the tall figure surrounded by the 7 tears gives me zant vibes big time, with the mask, flowing ribbons coming from the robe and general, non-hylian proportions. The mastersword going from rot into the linework that was very strong in the twili realm, which also featured a lot of swirl stone work, floating islands, and green energy "powering" things. It'll be interesting to see if there are any crossovers, because I feel like it's really leaning that way.
Ohh wow Zant does match a bit here... Hoping it's Midna (looks female to me) dressed in "royal" Zonai/Twili gear. I definitely think the Zonai and Twili share a ton in common and both "mysteriously vanished," which makes me think the Zonai tried to fight Ganon with the Triforce and got banished to the Twilight Realm. So stoked for this game
Great preliminary breakdown! I thoroughly love your videos and you’ve been doing a great job with theories, breakdowns, teasers and fun facts 👍🏼
Something I spotted was the giant cave in the background as Link is riding up the rock to the sky. Probably an entrance to the underground where Link and Zelda are exploring in the first trailer. I also noticed on the ground of main Hyrule, plenty of holes in the ground in weird locations. Hard to tell if it’s from the sky, cave entrances or sinkholes from the underground being opened up.
Some speculations:
-with the Zelda figure floating early in this trailer, I feel there has to be a similar character on the other side of the tablet of the new character meditating. Possibly too spoilery to show in a trailer?
-the doors Link pushes through look about the size as the doors of large building shown in the sky in previous trailers to some extent
-the ruins that have fallen to Hyrule could be like some mechanic like the Sky Cubes in Skyward Sword where if they’re returned you open pathways or repair structures in the sky to unlock something?
-this is a BIG stretch but could the Zonai have a possible relation to the Twili? The new character has an oddly shaped head but still a humanoid body and gives me Twili vibes and they were depicted as somewhat savage and used magic. I know there’s a big weakness since we’re visiting the sky but Twilight Princess was the first 3D game to explore the sky to some extent and Midna and Zelda’s destiny were intertwined. An argument could also be made that they disappeared suddenly from history 🤷🏻♂️
"The tears of The Kingdom"
Does this mean we may get to see Zelda's mom!? I always wanted to. It would be a really cool development in Zelda, though, I know they like to keep the formula. I was always curious why we couldn't even SEE Zelda's mom... Her dad didn't do it with Goddess Hylia, lol. Her mom deserves to be recognized. Queen of Hyrule needs to be seen and heard. I have a feeling it will bring some tears.
I’ve been looking forward to this video since the moment I heard a direct was announced. I knew you’d be on top of it if there was a new Zelda trailer. You’re a wealth of knowledge and do the best breakdowns on RUclips!
Ever since the previous trailer where we saw the floating islands, I've been of the opinion that this would simultaneously be a sequel to BotW and a prequel to Skyward Sword, that time would be circular. The Ouroboros symbolism supports the idea of cyclical a timeline. This may also explain why the timeline splits the way it does, instead of a branching timeline it's one that just goes a little differently each loop.
Elzo in Minish Cap said that the 'first hero' like Link didn't have a hat. Link in Skyward sword did, but BotW Link doesn't, it would make sense for him to actually be first hero.
Great concept, minish cap is my favorite Zelda game, and I forgot about that line!
It would be pretty mind blowing if BOTW Link is the first Link, going back in time and meeting the Goddess and performing the sacred ritual at the Goddess statue like SS Zelda said Hylia did with her chosen hero.
Oooh new headcanon baby
Link does have a hat in BOTW. It’s optional, but still there. It also doesn’t make sense because there’s a hero referenced in the tapestry telling the tale of the Calamity thousands of years prior to BOTW and Link’s previous adventures are referenced as well. I don’t think it’s at all likely that Link in BOTW is the “first” Link. Link in Skyward Sword might not be the first, but he was the first to wield the Master Sword, which already exists in BOTW and Fi is referenced in a couple of cutscenes.
I still think SS link is the first considering that SS says that the hero sealed away demise around the time of the goddess and SS Link travels to the past to defeat Demise. Demise also lays the curse at the end of SS
Also one of the NPCs in BOTW (I don't remember who) says that like a zillion years ago people lived in the sky
I am always impressed on the quality of you content. You are a amazing at it and I am glad to watch your chanel
I feel like with the presence of zonai and the two wildly different Link they are going to implement the time travel concept again which would be so hype. I feel like they even hinted at it in the first trailer with the ability to make the boulder rewind.
This could definitely be a reach on my end but after watching this I definitely believe that the Zonai are descendants of the Twili. After all their heavily associated with green magic, they were gifted magic users, twilight princess even refers Zelda and midna as two sides of the same coin, and the tears are also reminiscent of twilight princess. I know there are already theories of them being connected but this kinda solidifies that idea for me. The idea of two sides of the same coin could explain the strange stone carving of Zelda and this mystery figure. As the saying implies that the twili can not exist without Hylians and vice versa. Not sure how to explain it all in detail but I feel like the parallels at this point with TP are pretty uncanny.
However it could possibly just be the Zonais adaptation of Hylia or maybe spirits.
I mean yeah, the Zelda (if that is who is depicted here) from the carving doesn't have short hair like our Zelda... But who's to say that they're the same person?
This carving reminds me more of the tapestries we saw in BotW - the story of another Hero and Princess, from long, long ago.
Perhaps what's depicted here is the event in which Ganondorf was initially sealed away, by a Link and Zelda who existed even before the pair from 10,000 years ago.
The last ones who fought Ganondorf as Ganondorf, and not as the malice-incarnation of Calamity Ganon.
Hearing you say “auroboros” sent a shiver down my spine and an anxiety in me that lingers from the terror that is FMA.
Your videos are so freaking good man
Damn you're fast with these
I find it interesting that everyone is assuming the word "tears" is referring to tears like crying. I assumed that it was referring to "tears" like rips in paper or like a tear in space-time. I guess it makes sense now that I remember the tear drops from the first trailer, but I still wonder if it's supposed to have a double meaning. A kingdom torn apart, and the tears that come from it.
hmmm, that's really interesting. I like that thought a lot
The Japanese title (ゼルダの伝説 ティアーズ オブ ザ キングダム, "Tiaazu obu za Kingudamu") specifically pronounces "Tears" as "tiers", as in crying tears.
I thought it referred to the british people grieving
people aren't assuming it, that's what it is. Japanese title makes it very clear that it's 100% crying tears.
it can't be (ripping) tears because that doesn't make sense linguistically. it'd be like (ripping) "tears from the kingdom" or whatnot but you'd just use something else entirely like "fractures of a kingdom. " (crying) tears is the only thing that makes sense
It would be nice if it had a double meaning but in this case it only works if you don’t actually read it out loud, and only in English. It’s just the crying kind of tears.
Watched just about every tears of the kingdom analysis video and literally nobody does a better job than zeltik
Loved your analysis !
I just love how you’re able to find these little details within a short trailer. Some of theses things, like the green symbols appearing all over Hyrule, I didn’t notice at all.
The editing and analysis in this is amazing for such short notice!
4:40 I totally missed that dragon! 😳
The swirling energy at the same spot as a skull camp is interesting.
The glowing plateau having the same owl-looking lady made my jaw drop.
I was waiting for your analysis
I really hope there’s more diversity in enemy types this time. The overall vibe the game gives off is great though.
Well ideally they can reuse the ones they've already made with some touch ups, so that should free up development time for making new ones.
@@kylehill4135 That would fall under some touch ups.
The blue-green energy, the reverse droplets(that look like the reverse drops when the Guardians of the Springs in Twilight Princess show up), the little vials on Links side, similar to the Tears you collect in Twilight Princess..... I feel like they are connected, and if possible, so is the Twilight Realm.
yes yes ye ye syeysye yesye sye yes yes ye ey YES!
YES THANK YOU I've been thinking that since I initially saw the first trailer. Not to mention the arm color and design we've seen it in the Twilight
I hope so
The little vials on Link's hip may also be some for of Magic holder.. It's been a few games since any of the Hero's had magic.
Midna!!!!!!!
This is so interesting. There are some things I missed, but overall we had similar thoughts :)
I'm very excited. I also hope we'll learn more about the Zonai and the magical creatures like the god of the forest etc.!
i really like that link uses a stone glider to fly over the grasses of hyrule, its very reminiscent of the glider from nausicaa of the valley of the wind
The diving from the sky and landing on, what appears to be a bird, is reminiscent of skyward sword. And I think the reason why we haven’t got wind waker and twilight princess is because tears of the kingdom might draw a lot from skyward sword, the first Zelda game chronologically. Maybe after this new Zelda is released, they will announce the wind waker and twilight princess. At least that’s what I’m hoping for.
That actually makes a lot of sense
@@NoOne-pk9th it made sense to me. Plus I really want to play wind waker and twilight princess again. So I hope they get ported to the switch.
I don't have any evidence to back this up except on how elegant carvings are. But the creature that we saw from the beginning might be a iteration or interpretation of Goddess Hylia. Also my first thought about the person that we assume is Ganondorf was that looks like Zelda from skyward sword when Ghirahim was trying to sacrifice her to Demise.
Hello Quinlan, nice to meet ya. That was my same thought exactly about the Goddess of Hylia as well. Did you notice how at the end when they reveal the background carving, right before the title displayed; how Zelda's hand was cupped within that same godly like figure's hand as well? That gave me some official vibes right there especially how there were other circular shapes displayed with other carvings we also seen in the trailer as well. And one other thing to note is how the concept of tears are also circular in their form as well. Maybe Goddess Hylia is a Zonai or something, but hid her appearance the entire time to somehow to hide the remains of their race (so they won't entirely get killed off) and somehow hold off and slow down the historical course of war and destruction from Demise that depicts the source behind how the cycle (circle) of Malice keeps on strengthening itself ?
I think those stones you send back up to the clouds are one time trips. Where you "repair" parts of skyloft that were previously damaged. Unlocking chests, and secret areas. But just a hunch
Excellent review papa Zeltik! ♥️👏👏👏👏👏👏
Dude that was fast!
This was a pretty awesome reveal, honestly...
Thanks for the breakdown!
Also on the tear motif, Tears of Light were in Twilight Princess, collected by Wolf Link to restore areas of the world and the Spirits of Light. While the title on the surface indicates a sadder tone, it may also refer to some version of the Twilight Princess tears of light, and a way to fight against the threat against Hyrule on land and sky this time around.
When link was on the stone bird, there was a brief moment where we could see another big green drawing on the ground, kind of like the one that zeltik pointed out
I don't know how you view this video, Zeltik, but it is one of the most beautifully concise and emotionally captivating things in the last parts, as a Zelda fan from a young age. Maybe it wasn't your words exactly, but you made me think about a lot of feelings I've had with Zelda-- most specifically, this feeling in BotW where I felt like I was truly visiting canyons or inlets that I interpreted in LttP or Oracle of Seasons. The fact that this sequel continues to surprise and inspire us, while teasing new plot and old references, is magical. I'm currently almost out of money in NYC but videos like this give me hope, if that makes sense.
