Traveller and their Sibling are heavily implied to not be quite fully human in flavour texts and different quests. Or, at least, they are VERY long lived, supposedly travelled countless worlds and so they are familiar with modern technology and use media references and memes in some dialogues

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames According to the texts, before becoming trapped on Teyvat, they wandered the cosmos, witnessing the birth AND death of stars. I'm not quite sure how to parse that, but if you assume they saw the birth and death of the SAME stars...they are VERY old, indeed.

Aren't they basically non-Teyvat deities or some type of higher lifeforms like that basically? They were on a trip basically for business stuff, then got bumrushed by some asshole deity on their way, who yoink'd the other sibling, and the escaping one crashlanded to Teyvat

@@skebaba918 Not in Teyvat for business reasons though. If I remember correctly, their world was having issues, being destroyed, so they fled to another world. However they've traveled all over many worlds for a very very long time, so I'm not sure if I got that right, but either way they didn't come to Teyvat specifically for any particular reason.
And so the overhanging plot of "where is my twin" becomes "why is my twin waging war with the gods"
I dont know if you Guys remember, but at the End of the Mondstadt Quest we saw a short scene of the Travelwrs Sibling with the Abyss Mages. He also gets called the Abyss Sibling because of that.
Also now Kaenriah got mentioned! The Star of big Lore Drops!

The Traveller and their sibling went from world to world riding on shooting starts but when they reached Teyvat they were separated and the sibling woke up first, we don't know how long It was between the sibling waking up and them finding and waking up the sleeping Traveller but we know they met either shortly before or during the fall of Khaenri'ah because almost Immediately after waking up the Traveller they tried to escape the calamity by completely leaving the world but then at the bother between worlds The Unknown Deity Intercepted them and put the Traveller back to sleep for 500 years separating them again.
From the Traveller's point of view It all happened In less than a day and It went like this: Interdimensional tourism> nap time> sibling wakes them up> everything Is on fire> they try to leave together> Unknown Deity says nope> nap time the second> wake's up dazed and confused 500 years later> tries to survive In the wild because they still haven't had the chance to learn this worlds language> by chance or destiny fish up Paimon> Paimon teaches them how to speak> they tell Paimon their situation and that's where the game begins.

Razor's introduction is in another chapter that focused on him and the Wolf God that took place before this chapter.
TLDR: he's a feral child that has been raised by the Wolf God and the wolves of Wolvendom, learning their language and practices. As of late he's been learning about humans and their customs such as making friends with Klee and learning how to read and write from Lisa (well it's not perfect but its good enough for him to get through a conversation with some of his wolf-tongue mixed in).
He's got an electro vision and uses a claymore in combat.
Additional fun fact: If you exclude the Traveler, Razor was also the only Male electro character in the game until Sumeru rolled around.
To me, this is where Genshin's story truly begins. The reveals of this chapter recontextualizes a lot of the world of Teyvat and its story and these mysteries are what drive forward the story of the game, remember what Zhongli said in his quest, the Traveler is a witness, and in more ways than one might have thought at first
Regarding the age of the twins, their character description is different than all the other characters as it only says "The keeper is fading away; the creator has not come yet. But the world shall burn no more, for you shall ascend". Genshin often mixes the storytelling techniques of games like Dark Souls where there's a lot of lore and hints of what may come in the future in item descriptions.
Sadly, as you have noticed, this makes a watching only experience a bit incomplete as there's a lot of context missing from both these descriptions and also unvoiced quests that usually deal with the history of Teyvat, however I think that you'll be able to understand the great majority of this

26:18 Just to clear up the confusion, although never explicitly stated the Traveler and their sibling just have a very long lifespan, there’s no time-traveling or reincarnation going on, they were just alive at that time.
(The Traveler’s longevity hasn’t been important in the story until now nor is there any sort of plot-twist regarding it, so i don’t think that me saying this counts as some sort of spoiler)

59:58 aah yes welcome to the meme that is Dainsleif. It's a running joke that he shows up once a year for the Abyss Order Story and almost always leaves us with more questions than answers.
The fall of K'hanriah is explained more as you go through your Quests. Later on you hear about it from major characters who witnessed it in the next region story.
Hope that author of the Teyvat Travel Guide becomes playable someday.

Not yet.
In fact, not for a long while because they missed a bunch of event stories and character quests. And since one of them involves Klee (the character they based their drink on) they’re definitely not skipping any of them.
Reminder that they watch hour+ long videos in 30-ish to 55-ish minute intervals per week and then upload them together on RUclips.
Right now they’re just at WindBlume Festival.
I wrote in your last video that i would trust the list you are watching to put some sub storys at the right place if necessary. I was talking about the "Razor" Quest in specific, which is about the Wolf Boy who is trying to rescue the Wolf here. I think it would have given you some more context for this Video, since here you know Razor and the Wolf already.
But other than that i think you have all the necessary knowledge you need at this point. 😊

I’m trying to keep it at 2 character quests per main story/event.
Because they tried to do it one at a time and I realized they weren’t gonna be able to figure out the important ones from the regular ones, so only doing characters that are relevant to an event.
26:59 Yes, unfortunately there is SO MUCH Genshin lore that simply isn’t talked about on during the Archon quests, the player is supposed to learn about it in side-quests or read about it in in-game items, but as you said since you guys are watching cutscenes unfortunately you’ll miss a bunch of Lore
(Without spoilers, just to let you guys know what to except, so if there’s any instance in the future where a character references another character/event and the story just acts as if the player knows what’s being talked about it’s likely that it’s referencing some sort of side-quest)

There's some stuff even this early we sort of know about the sibling's journey they talked about. In the start of the game we see both of them try to leave only to be blocked, then they get trapped by the cubes. Yet the traveler we play as didn't know the local language until meeting Paimon, the sibling knows Dain from 500 years prior (we don't know if the sibling knew the language or not).
This can be used to suggest that the traveler was not active when the abyss sibling met him 500 years prior and they (either one or both) may not have been in the world long enough to learn it since it didn't take the traveler long to learn the local language, despite not really talking. In I believe the beta opening of the game it says the traveler was asleep for 500 years.
What we know from at this point is that the twins came to the world, tried to leave, one fell into a slumber and the other ditched us traveled with our sibling, only to eventually join the abyss
There's extra details and stuff that I'm not a hundred percent when we learn it so I'll save it so I don't accidentally spoil. The next bit might have more, I know you're probably a bit ahead but still I prefer you get some of the info yourself
Im kinda split on traveler preference. I really like Aether as MC, but when it comes to the abyss sibling i think Aether does a better job at expressing the emotions of the abyss sibling. In the new quest, the abyss sibling said it was saddening to not go traveling with traveler. Abyss Aether does a better job at expressing the heartbreak the abyss twin has than Abyss Lumine. Abyss Lumine sounds too cold and distant for such a heartbreaking moment. At least, this is my own perspective of it so it might be different for someone else
@@jdblue9460 To be fair I think that has to do with how they want the travelers to act. I believe it was said officially that they wanted Lumine to be more cool while Aether more cute or something. There's personality differences even in the voicelines where you see that Lumine seems more reluctant to get close with others, Aether seems more open
@@orderofthenightwalkers4174 i understand it was how hoyo wanted it but it doesn't sound right to me. We have seen in the beginning cutscene, traveler voiceline, and throughout the story that Lumine and Aether are close as close siblings can be. to see Abyss Lumine act cold and distant at such a heartbreaking moment, to have to leave their dearest sibling behind to experience everything. I don't think her cold and distant attitude fits with what is going on.
@@jdblue9460 The whole idea is her journey is what changed her, however she was awake before him, while some of this is revealed in later parts, one was awake before the other when they first arrive, They both see the cataclysm, try to leave we seen what happens.
Then at some point she wakes travels with Dain as stated, she learns the truth of the world, parts ways for unknown reasons, then eventually works with the abyss
There are some details we don't know what she went through since then. If it's accurate still that she went to Khaenri'ah and became a source of hope for them, seeing it destroyed then being attacked by the unknown god, who works for I suppose, the heavenly principles, and if the truth she learned has to do with what that has done to the world, her hating it could be the reason she's changed and acts this way
There's other theories as well but we have confirmation the abyss sibling hates the heavenly principles, it makes sense to me for her to be cold, I can see both but with how most stuff is made with Aether as the MC, even Ningguang has a voiceline that mentions your sibling only if you picked Aether.
She does care as seen int he recent AQ, but that's not stopping her from focusing on the loom of fate and their plans

Paimon is annoying and unfiltered but she is also caring and loving, she's like a little sister. Dainsleif acts cold and distant, like a brick wall. I can understand why the abyss twin is the way they are, if Dainsleif was their companion
the siblins are not human they only have a human appearance the consensus that the fandom has reached is that they are really stars and that they are representations of angels due to their motifs
it is also said that they have witnessed the birth and death of many stars so yes they travel between many planets and have a gigantic lifespan because the "Abyss siblin" has been awake and wandering around Teyvat for more than 500 years

I dont think time travel is involved, aether woke up first and for some reason, not lumine. He went on his own journey, discovered "the truth of this world" and THEN, woke up his sister to flee from kaenrhia's destruction by the gods. Then they meet the unknown god in the first cinematic, she puts lumine in magical coma, she wakes up then start her journey, which is the game's story.

This is not fair to the majority of the people who wait for a week to finally watch the video that they have been waiting for, just to find out that you skip the upload for 15 days so people spend money for it. Guys, do better.
It is expected from people who live off of react money.
Basically, the beginning of this game is not actually the beginning of when the siblings first arrived on Teyvat, but it is basically near when YOU first arrived. So both you and your sibling crashed onto Teyvat, but your sibling woke up first. We don't know how long your sibling was out and about, but when Khaenriah was being destroyed was when your sibling woke YOU up so both of you guys can leave the world together. THEN enter the game's intro cutscene where your path was blocked by an unknown god.
Also, Aether and Lumine are suggested by the game to be immortal (but not invincible) because they witnessed both the birth and death of stars. They may be stars themselves seeing the intro cutscene of two stars flying over Mondstadt and in this quest they came in a "meteorite". Hence, the siblings have been traveling for a long time to different worlds before coming to Teyvat, so 500 years may be nothing to them.
That Grand Theif was actually from Amber Story quest, which I think you have not reacted cause it was very short quest. 30:24

Dain quests always = big lore drops, I always look forward to Dain quests mainly because he always shows a bit darker side of Teyvat and their always fun to play through, and all the information he brings is more relevant towards why we're in Teyvat our sibling, (I love how much you guys love Paimon's butt wiggles.)

When I saw the Grand Thief, I was doubtful that he was actually dead but then the text came out saying *There's no reaction, nor any sign of breathing.* it gave me goosebumps. It didn't help that i was playing during the middle of the night and I wasn't expecting dead characters on the game in which I thought was just a fun type adventure game (the dark themes just flew over my head before getting smacked by this 😅)

I could be wrong but basically the two siblings are travellers that go to world to world. Both then landed on the world of Teyvat.
The sibling woke up first, did the journey first and realized the truth of the world. It's implied that Dainsleif might be their travelling companion and if so, why, how and when did Dainsleif become their travel companion is unknown.
It is also unknown how long did their journey take or what exactly did they experienced.
In any case, at the end, they finally wake the Traveller during or after the time of the destruction of Khaenri'ah, hence why the Traveller has memories of its destruction.
The sibling told the Traveller that they need to leave Teyvat and when they tried to escape, the Unknown God stopped them as she use dark red cubes to attacked and sealed them away. The same dark red cubes that was seen in destroyed Khaenri'ah (Teaser: We Will Be Reunited).
Which make the minds to tickle since Khaeri'ah was called a nation without god and thus was called the "pride of humankind" and that the UnknownGod came out of nowhere, calling herself the sustainer of heavenly principles and denouncing the "arrogation of mankind" at the start of the game.
Anyways, the siblings was separated and the Traveller was sealed away. 500 years later, the Traveler woke up and met Paimon and that's where the story begins.
The wolf is from the Razor story quest. Sad that you miss it as it would have provided some context. Dont forget Mona story quest. Its funny and it is the start of an side story that may be important in the future (which involves Albedo, Klee and Tartaglia)
There is no time traveling. When the siblings were separated, one of them appeared in the world 500 years before the other one.

So yeah, as a lot of people have already said, the MC characters, Aether & Lumine, are not really humans. They’re long lived beings that just happen to appear human.
And the thing when it comes to long lived people in Chinese media, from what I’ve seen at least, finding ways to extend your lifespan either via some magical item, martial prowess, or meditation is not uncommon. Many characters in Chinese fiction have lived far longer than regular people.
Back to Genshin though.
We now get the starter info pack on what Dainsleif is and was. And here’s the sucky thing about following stories involving Dainsleif. They only right AFTER the Archon quests involving the actual Archons.
So fans usually had to wait nearly half a year to get any sort of story update on Dainsleif & Khaenriah.
So all this stuff really is supposed to in the back of your head while it half-year periodically gets touched on.
If it weren’t for certain lore channels, a majority of players wouldn’t remember these the first time. (Some of them just hate it because they hate Paimon’s voice and how she repeats stuff)

Almost 4 years and 5 nations later we actually know very little about our mc and their twin, but here is some information not in quests that would be available to anyone who has reached this quest in game.
Before the game launched the twins had introduction posts on social media. From those introductions we find out that their home (planet?) was seemingly destroyed and everyone else there killed. I believe its also implied that they were important people in their home world. Every introduction post contains some words from another character in game. The twins' character introduction posts are done by some mysterious person only known by the initials K.K. Perhaps they are someone the twins know.
The Travelers character profile tells us the twins have passed through countless worlds on their journey. Whatever that journeys purpose is however remains unclear. After being sealed by the mystery god at the start of the game, the traveler entered a slumber filled with nightmares. 500 years later they wake up with no powers and many questions. Soon they fish out Paimon from the sea, she teachers them the common language of Teyvat for two months and boom thats where the game story starts.
As for the Twins' ages... no clue but theyre most likely very very old. Zhongli currently has the oldest confirmed age at 6k+ but its likely the Twins are far older than that. According to a developer "the Traveler's life span is by no means short". As for what the Twins are.. also no clue but clearly not human. I personally like this one theory that theyre stars in human form.
Basically every characters profile contains a section about how they gained their Vision aka the little orb-gem thingy that allows them to wield and manipulate the elements. Heres what the Travelers profile says about that.
"When faced with circumstances that they cannot control, humans often bemoan their powerlessness.
But if a person is found to have surpassing ambition even as their life reaches such a desperate turning point, then the gods would look upon them with favor.
This favor is the Vision, an external magical focus given to those who have been acknowledged by the gods which they can use to channel elemental power.
Celestia is the realm of the gods, and the wielders of Visions walk the earth below. When they depart from this world, the chosen will ascend.
After coming to this world, you often hear people speak of such things.

At the very beggining of the game traveler mentioned to Paimon that he and her sister used to travel the worlds. And they got stuck in Tevyat(world) when the Unknown god captured one of the sibiling and took the powers of another one. And now in this quest we get to know that that our other sibling was already awake before us and knew more about this world. We(traveller) only woke up 500 years ago when that god stopped us from going to another world. So we witnessed the destruction of that nation 500 years ago, and out sibling knew everything that happened before the destruction. So traveller(We) only have memory from that dark day when nation was destroyed. They surely were not mortal if they have powers and like to time travel different worlds. This story will get more confusing as you will watch further, cause you are not watching it continuously and also there are certain important scenes which are always missing from the videos you react from. One important scene is from the Mondstadt where after meeting Abyss Mage who controlled Dwalin you will get to see that your sibling is involved with the Abyss. The story and world building goes so wild that it is difficult to keep up with the story if you don't watch it again😂😅. There are world quests without voice that are important and also some things that will only be explained in the future as the game has not yet completed, so it gets important to clearly remember what happened in the past to understand the answers we will be given in the future.
Watching this again after several years, I can't help but still feel annoyed with the writing decisions Hoyo made here by having Paimon talk more to our sibling than we did ourselves 😔
It's just the EN VA. Idk why they chose a VA to make her sound so incessant. The VA also makes it sound a little too obvious that it's an adult trying to sound like a child. The JP one makes her sound like an actual angry lavender melon, and better yet, vindictive at times, and it cracks me up.
This will always be a sticking point for me with silent protagonists. Luckily for us, it appears that Hoyoverse has learned their lesson with Zenless Zone Zero.
So most genshin players are also unaware of the Traveler's past and origins in full context but what is implied is that the twins are not fully human but born from stars and hail from a destroyed world outside of teyvat (teyvat has been used as a name for the world but also referred to as a continant so I actually have no idea which one it is). The Idea of time is a pretty good observation from you guys because even though it's not confirmed, there's a popular theory circulating that the unknown god at the beginning of the game (the one who traps us in cubes and takes our powers) Is a god that is referenced throughout items, books and historical records in genshin throughout the world be it side quests or just exploring. The god people think the unknown god to be is Istaroth, the god of wind and time. People think that because venti is the god of wind then Istaroth must only be the god of time. There's an eerie side quest in Mondstadt of an island invisible when opening the map menu (you can see it from the beach where the traveler wakes up after the cutscene with our powers being taken away by the unknown god) where there is a bunch of celestia and abyss related symbols and a type of statuette that looks to be constructed for Istaroth. The quest itself leaves off at a very weird note and makes the atmosphere in mondstadt all the more chilling especially since we already know from the mondstadt archon quest that the abyss has a lot of dealings within mondstadt and that Venti could be hiding a lot of information regarding Celestia. Also to not spoil the short webtoon comic Genshin posted a few years back in case you wish to look at it on your own time, It leaves off at a really weird and kind of creepy note I would say. It really gets you thinking about what Celestia really is.
