      I agree. It seems only applicable for very small areas that would take a really minimal amount of time to mow anyway. For the price of probably 10-20x times the appropriate lawn mower for the area.
      A robotic lawnmower should be made to appeal to property managers who measure in acres and would require programming more sophisticated than a walmart brand roomba.
      I think they have their target market all wrong. There are estate managers out here begging for some automation to come to grass cutting and with business money to spend on it.
      This little thing is not worth much

  • @zunkman1
    @zunkman1 5 лет назад +3

    My Robomow is almost completely silent, as opposed to the (quite obvious) Whining noise the Miimo makes. Robomow also has a rain sensor so it does not cut in the rain, and there is a Robomow app to control settings from your phone. Maybe you should review a Robomower.

    As an owner of a self propelled ego mower I believe robot mower technology has a long way to go. My yard is bigger than yours but not by a lot and this clearly wouldn't work for me. Leaving the unit outside and having exposed cable running all around my yard is a deal breaker for sure. I'll stick with my battery powered push mower

    • @MrMauserb
      @MrMauserb 5 лет назад +2

      The grass grows over the wire in a couple of weeks. You will never see it again after that. BTW, my Robomow can keep up with mowing a couple of acres. You may want to do a little research before you decide that it doesn't work.

  • @GameKollector
    @GameKollector 5 лет назад +3

    While cool.....the real solution for a robot lawn mower is one that like a Roomba or Neato vacuum.
    First you have an app like you mentioned and then you let it go and map your yard then you use an app to set virtual barriers where you don't want it to go, thus eliminating installing barrier wire. This map would then allow you to set schedules, zones if you want to mow certain areas, and show you the mower progress... From the app you would be able to do numerous other things too such as show when the blades need to be replaced, power on/off the device, reset virtual barriers, start it whenever you want, etc...
    Just one downfall to that idea.... Mower needs internet access at all times to do that.

    • @d3str0i3r
      @d3str0i3r 5 лет назад

      not really, we have 4TB micro SDcards in production already, a simple yard map would maybe take 20GB at most, the programming to run the damn thing would take another 200 GB at worst, just store everything on the damn mower, seriously we have kids toys that run more sophisticated software these days than this mower would need

    I think your dandelions are cute. Anyway that's a neat robot. My yard is big and C shaped. Not sure if it would work for me but would be great. What happens when it rains? I love that it's quiet. My neighborhood is so annoying that if one person makes any kind of lawn noise everyone starts mowing even if the grass is short. We mow as little as we can. Having a quiet robot go out at night to do it for us would be great and the neighbors don't have to know. I hate the sound of lawn equipment.

    The only robot mower i saw until now that can closely compare to gas powered lawn mower is Ambrogio L60, price aprox. 1000$ but it cuts everything that stands on its way even thicker brush, of course it gets stuck sometimes but i haven’t seen anything come close to it until now. Rest of these brands are just not worth the money. To take a whole day to set one up and that is with the help from professional and after that wait for a couple of days, maybe even weeks so that my lawn is in decent condition, is just not worth it!

  • @mboiko
    @mboiko 5 лет назад +1

    A $2,500 to $2,800 robot...in a yard that small and simple? You're not 75+ years old and you still have to edge/trim lawn. So you save 15-25 minutes? Maybe in a few generations but the cost is too high, you still have to worry about someone stealing or breaking it, and rain is still problematic involving you turning it on and off manually. Wait 5 years and then re-visit.

Also the mower that you have is able to mowe areas at least 5-6 times the area you are using it on. 🙂 Have been mounting hundreds of this mowers for the last 5 years, and like them the best of all brands i have tried. It's possible to put the chargeing base in a corner so it's a litle bit more hidden. (it should take me about 1,5 to 2 hours to Mount one on your size lawn 😉)

    I have a 1.2 acres of front and back yards. Once in 10 days, two guys arrive to my property with heavy duty equipment, and within one and a half hour do all the job, including mowing, trimming and edging, They charge me usually $75, unless some extra work is required. An Average Robotic mower, according to a brief search on Amazon, will be about $1,500. It covers about 20 of my lawn mowing works, that is basically about two years. No other cost of efforts on my part are required. Based on these calculation, I am not going to buy a robotic lawn mower, at least at this time. Just thinking.

      Don't, do that. Bayer and Monsanto were not looking out for anyone's lives with Roundup. How many cancer patients are created over weeds that do nothing to harm us. On top of that, our pollinators are in serious danger from glyphosate based products. Studies have shown a direct impact to women's health. Female pro golfers have a greater breast cancer risk because of suspected pesticide and herbicide exposure on golf courses.
      Are your family members healthy lives more important than a perfect lawn?

      Laura Cornwell I don’t gaf what you use. But the lawn looks terrible and it brings down the overall value of the neighborhood when it’s full of dandelions. Spot spray, seasonal weed feed application. Be smart. But also mindful of the beauty of your lawn as it will benefit everyone.

      @@ESmith I've never once used a chemical on my lawn. I follow Allyn Hanes, Ryan Knorr and JLK's tips. But mow tall and watch the bioaccumulative chemicals you apply to your yard. My wife is a pathogenic microbiologist with the CDC infectious disease lab. I will never allow chemicals like weed and feed or Roundup on my lawn or in my home. But yes. Getting weeds under control is important. Hit up a good organic fertilizer like Ringer, Lasko or Milorganite and Throw er down! Let that grass grow thick and tall and your weed problem is gone in a flash as a healthy thick lawn chokes out weeds and requires less water!

      We tried it and it most likely would have worked well with the edging feature turned on but I like to be able to edge between the sidewalk and the grass and I couldn't have e done that with the wire there so we moved it a bit away.

      I was turning it off for the rain at first but this week I did not and I have not had any issues. It should be stored away for the winter.

    Nice, a couple of questions. Where does the cut grass go? Being that the charging station is so visible could people steal that and the mower? And the price? I think i would put it in the back yard at my house. But over all ti sound like a great deal. I know several people that might really be interested in it. Thanks for the video. Keep up the good work. See ya next time.

    • @TechWithBrett
      @TechWithBrett  5 лет назад +3

      Great questions! Because the MiiMo is mowing much more often it only trims a centimeter of grass each day. This is will not create any noticeable build-up on the top like mulching but it will create a thin thatch layer on the ground. I will share more on that after a few months.
      Yes it would ideal to have it in a location that is not seen but it doesn't draw too much attention to itself.
      Right now they have some great promos going so check the website for more details on total cost.

      The Honda robots can run in all cinds of whether. And this cinds of blades ar th best solution an used by all the largest brands her in europe. Werry silent and efficient and the nicest cut. They are hanging loose and move out of the way if they hit an obstacle. And also cheep and easy to replace.
