  • Join me for the first of hopefully many allotment diaries. I thought it would make sense to start with a history of the plot and how it looks now. Then move on to discussing the plans for the greenhouse!
    This is only a 'small' 5 rod plot, but when they are in this state it's a huge amount of work getting them back to productivity.
    Hope you enjoy!

    Hello if you're a new viewer! This was the first video I ever made and it's pretty basic by my current standards I'm sorry! If you're interested to see what the plot looks like now, over a year after we first took it on, be sure to check out this before/after video, ruclips.net/video/44bnWfwAx-k/видео.html

    Dude, wtf would someone put a carpet in their garden? Lol, madness. Good lord you had to do a lot of work, it must have been a relief to see it done. Jeez those brambles looked like a small jungle, im sure for the little bugs and lizards and such living in there it probably was a jungle, a whole little ecosystem haha. Wow, you have made quite the transformation over the years, it makes me feel inspired that i can get my yard fixed up into a functioning garden area as well. Right now its just lots of potted plants and raised beds. But im gonna start the in ground stuff this week, mostly because ive run out of pots, lol, no choice now but to start digging now haha. Amazing transformation from when you first got it to now.

    New subscriber here. Thank you for sharing. I took on a plot in May and I am still trying to fight the weeds. Just ordered a small 4'x3' shed so I can store tools onsite and not have to use the car every visit. Maybe I will get there more if I don't have to lug all the tools with me. Going to check out more of your videos to see what you have done the past few years. Sarah

      Ah thank you so much Sarah! Welcome to the allotment community! So many amazing resources and youtube channels these days. I'm still very much getting to grips with mine and mostly showing off everything that goes wrong 😂 Enjoying the process along the way is the key to keeping with it!

    Oh, JB! This is so reassuring! I was shown a few plots over the weekend with a few others on the waitlist. We had to list our preferences & we will get our choice based on where we are on the waitlist. Most of the plots were quite clean, especially the one I wanted, it’s basically ready to plant, but they are only about 5-7 poles. But the last plot is hideously overgrown, brambles, & a thick hedge which I’d have to remove… But, it would be 10 poles. I could tell none of the other applicants liked that plot at all, so I’m trying to see the potential because once it’s cleared it would mean double the space 😍… This actually helped me see the potential more. Sometimes the space no one else wants is the best! Thank you 🙏🏻

      Ahh amazing!! It can be a really good challenge. Just try not to rush yourself - maybe try and clear a bed or two and plant in some summer crops like squashes or Courgettes if you get your hands on it this summer. I was quite lucky getting mine at the start of winter but even by spring I didn't have all the beds ready!
      The worst part is if you find any nasty surprises under the brambles like plastic or asbestos. I've been surprised at how few brambles have come back - everyone told me I'd be fighting them for the rest of time, but digging deep and getting their roots seems to have mostly done the trick. Fingers crossed its not too bad for you!

    So a allotment means GARDEN PLOT? so yearly rental fee? Or community garden.... how wonderful ❤️

    • @JBNat
      @JBNat  2 года назад

      Yes they are very similar to community gardens! There are lots of different types as well - ours is land owned by the council and rented out.
