While Steve may be a little uncomfortable with all of us, we're totally chill and at home with him. You Rock Steve!
Great to see Steve in front of the camera, look forward to seeing the lincoln progress.
Steve you did a great job both on camera and getting the car running. 👍👍
Great job Steve!!
Steve is a natural. Keep it up my man !!
Great to see you in the video. No unnecessary dialog, just talking to yourself the way I do. It seems like Ford should have continued production of V12.
It was small for a luxury car engine, plus, it had gained a bad reputation, as the 36 - 41 versions were not the best of engines. The 42 - 48 was in general much better, but 305 cubes was really pushing it, and some had cylinder walls that were too thin on one side or the other, sometimes even failing, so the engine never was able to overcome it's reputation of being two troublesome Ford 6s welded together, causing twice as much trouble as two troublesome Ford 6s. The post-war 292 version is the most reliable.
Matt...was great to see Steve in front of the camera again..he embodies what hard work and effort is to a team concept..and Steve..every sucessful business has a Steve..
I love seeing Steve be in front of the camera more and actually talking to us. He's a national treasure and should be protected at all costs. Great seeing anyone coming out of their shell
Steve O should be in Hollywood. He's a natural.
Steve congratulations on another great job. Steve you're the perfect compliment in mechanic skills to Matt's metalworking skills. You guys make up the dynamic duo. Save your presentation skills you're very calm voice translates great on camera. Really great to hear you speak and share your thoughts as a mechanic myself
Good stuff Steve. You’re killing it.😊
Great video Steve, I like your presentation style, some people seem to be shouting at the camera, yours is very relaxed and very informative.👍 Amazing how smooth that 12 cylinder engine runs on one little carburettor 👍
Its a 2 barrel carb.
This is such an uber-cool find and thanks for sharing. I'm sure you'll sell it to a good home. I think the "mad scientist" mods may have been started during The War with the hope of improving engine life and fuel efficiency. I remember some old timers telling me a lot of these V-12s were swapped out early on for V-8s because of "overheating" issues that caused engine damage; and with parts and labor unavailable it was the quickest and cheapest way to keep these cars on the road. The "mad scientist"looks as though he was hell bent to keep that V-12 engine going.
Nice job Steve 👍
Mad Man Mutz lives. Just an FYI. In 1941 these engines left the factory with the heads and intake manifold highly polished.
Highly polished nodular iron? Do you mean painted? I don't know, just asking.
Steve”O” great presentation 👍
@@danontherun5685 The Lincoln Zephyr V-12 from 1936 to 1941 used an aluminum intake manifold and aluminum heads. All 1940 and 1941 Lincoln Continentals had the heads and manifold polished. In 1942 the heads were cast iron and painted silver. From 1946 to 1948 the heads remained cast iron and were painted Ford engine green, the same as the block.
Great work guys. Very interesting. What would have been the motivation or intention of creating 1.5 inch spacers under the intake??
Probably moor tork with longer runners @@kennybrown1977
Steve was enjoyable and did great thanks guys
Ride was a success, Steve & Moon approved. 😊
"Moon Equipped" like in the Moon Equipment ads.
Amazing, I absolutely did not expect to see this running so soon! I hope you keep it as one of your ongoing projects. I absolutely love the front end on this. Would make a cool old school kustom. Needs some whitewall tyres and to be lowered, plus a mean sounding dual exhaust!
imagine how it will sound with a decent exhaust. What a car.
Nice job on the video Steve. I would love to know what the guy was thinking when he came up with the ideas and modifications he put in the car.
Steve stepping out, big intro, congrats. V12 starting, running, moving, driving. Sounds great.
He’s a natural!
You need a V12 in your collection, and Moon loves it. Great video as usual...
having this car with good teacnical condition and driving it a round rusty ... a dream
keep it rusting? not much of a dream
Aces to you Steve you nailed it. Loved this episode keep the Z car stuff coming.
If we did not have people like the "mad scientist" we would not have all of this cool aftermarket stuff that we embrace in today's society. We would not have the Iskenderian camshafts, we would not have the Edelbrock intake manifolds, we would not have many of the performance parts we have today. True this fellow had some out there ideas and of course he fabricated a lot of stuff using just common everyday items, but one has to admire his interest in making something better and implementing his so-called crazy ideas even though his wiring is something to be desired his interest in tinkering is to be admired. If that car is not destined to be a highway cruiser I am a Chinese aviator. Could one imagine seeing that vehicle out on the interstate highways of today? The styling on that car is just fantastic.
Good follow up on the V12. It does run smooth, so now you need to tweak it, do the brakes and add a DUAL exhaust system.....music will be sweet. Nice to see Steve being in the camera lens.
Great job Steve!
I see Moon already claimed his spot. I lmao when you all came into view on the maiden voyage. It looked like you were setting off on an adventure.
Great job, Steve.
I wonder if Doc Brown was trying to isolate the intake to keep it from getting hot.
Good stuff Steve ,from Sydney Australia ,do more solo vids ,give Matt a break 😂
Haha I’d love that! -Matt/ITG
That "Stinkin' Lincoln" is a keeper for sure!!
I've seen a Ford where a SBC had been swapped in and the alternator was bolted to the inner fender. Worked? nope, the belt would tighten and loosen as the car drove along the road.
On the V12's,because of the size of that alloy intake , they would get condensation forming under the carb section. If the engine was subjected to too many short runs, eventually that condensation would make small holes into the manifold causing a difficult to find air leak. Back in the 60's a guy who was friends of a cousin had a model A with a V12 in it.
Hot Rod Lincoln....looked like a pup..
Tuning a V12 was tricky 😂😂 you even had to modify the exhaust 🤪
Really like yer ethic, work 1 problem at a time & then the joy of the "test" ride is just terrific....
Steve and Moon!! lol. love it.
Solo Steve?!?. Congratulations on getting her running and WoW it sounded smooth once all the plugs were connected. The new skirts are a major improvement. I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes.
Great job Steve and Matt! So great to see another survivor running and driving. Looking forward to seeing what you end up doing with the car, Cheers
SO smooth and sounds great!
Awesome job in front of the camera, Steve! The hardest part is taking the first step, and the worst critic is yourself. You've got a supportive fan base out here that already see you as a rock star - but stepping out of the rhythm section up to the mike is a challenge. But you'll feel more at ease soon. Just go back a few years and watch some of Matt's first videos! And great job on the Lincoln. This has great potential - I hope Matt can find a place for it so you guys can do some custom work on it in the future.
Steve intro! Nice job!
way to go Steve! you are a STAR!
WOW! Don't know how you guys do it, but it seems to me that every car you get is cooler than the last. If it was painted and restored I would not give it a second look. The fact that you brought it back to life In your shop is real hot rodding, alive and thriving. Can't wait to see it turn heads going down the road. More please.
Nice job Steve
Excellent episode!!!❤ loved the drive, all three of you smiling ear to ear😂
Steve rocks!
A GREAT episode. Nice to see the car run. Get the brakes fixed, do the exhaust and wiring and with a little cleaning you have another driver. I can see this car running around with the ITG crew heading for a drive in lunch. This car wants to run. It sounded so good when all the plug wires were connected. Thanks for posting and keep it up.
What a great video. Steve and Moon approved. You guys make a great team.❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks so much!
Of all the cars you have this one deserves to be done at least to Free T level. That is one very slick machine.
Wow great episode. Steve, you are great. Congratulations on getting the car running!
Moon be like "Home James".
Awesome job Steve! You and that V12 are mechanical marvels! Great to see the Land Yacht rolling around the yard! Go Iron Trap, keep moving forward!
Thanks guys! That was fun!
Can't believe you got the Lincoln running that quickly.
Steve ! A bit more of deleting the mad scientist stuff , "Oh Dear". Priceless ! Well , the good news is you guys won't have to buy switches & wire for a while . Those two cars were LOADED with modifications . Lol . Wow ! Smooth running engine . Nice ! Even took Moon on it's first ever drive in decades . I bet that it will run better as you dial it in , & put some run time on it . Don't see many of those V12s around from that era , & you know the clutch & drive train still works well enough . Great post !
So, still thinking about tasking that smoooooth V12 out in lieu of an 8?? As long as there's no cracks leaking coolant, please keep her stock - she's a real lady, if down at the heels. Get the top to go up so she can cover her dash, though. 😎
Hey there Moon-doggie!
Necessity the mother of invention 😂😂
I feel that with that Lincoln you have a veeery special car. It would be nice to see more work on it. It just seems worthwhile.
Awesome , trying to get a 70 Chrysler running after 10 years …I’ve gone through the whole fuel system ..bar pump …will try pressure to prime before I pull the mech pump out …you guys have kept me inspired ,,,love what you do ..
You got this! Good luck!
What an amazing job!! A smoothly running V12 of that age… Oh man… You guys rock! 🎉
Well done guys. Most of the cars I have seen have been full restorations and they look luxurious. But yours has some nice lines which make it a candidate to mod. The ugliest part is the square, boxy trunk. But reshaping that might be more than you want to do.
That Lincoln is so ugly its beautiful
Good on you guys for getting it going. Glad to see Steve in front of the camera
Hey Steve, it's great to see you doing a video and working on the V12.... It's so awesome to hear the V12 running again. Great job! Great job both Steve and Matt
This could be the coolest car you guys have! "Sliding" into a cruise night with this would be just ALL that AND a Shoo fly pie!
Great job, Steve. Would like to see more of you in coming videos.
Museum I worked at had a 48 Lincoln. Ran great. Drove it around. The day the donor passed away, the car never ran again. No matter what we did to it.
That car runs so smooth 😮
Another great episode!
Amazing what you are finding on these cars from this estate.
At first look the engineering changes look pretty nutty and crude, but could he have been an advanced thinker with the idea for a long runner tuned intake with airgap. Done unpolished and doubtful that there was any dyno testing and research done, but interesting that he went to so much work to change things that worked fine from the factory. Mind boggling.
Wonder what we could say about the iron drainpipe exhaust sections? Cylinder pulse resonance reflex tunning for cylinder scavenging? 😀
Job well done Steve!!! The friggin engine purr's really nice!! Love the first drive with Matt and Steve up front and Moon sitting in back seat!! That picture would look great on a ITG tee shirt!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you Steve for the awesome job removing some more of nightmare modifications ! Steve and Matt thank for guy sharing this with me !
Yes. That car landed in just the right hands. Didn't it?
Nice job on correcting the intake manifold mounting, Steve, and I'm so impressed with how you fixed the fuel pump pushrod! Yes, Matt and Steve, you guys rock!
BTW, Matt, my friend with the cherry '40 DeLuxe 5 window decided to give it to a former neighbor. This "kid" grew up next door, and helped my buddy with the build. He's always love the car, and sees it a a treasure to work on with his boys. Thanks for your ideas, Matt. It's so good that the '40 has a future with a family!
Great to hear!
Pretty smooth running V-9.
Supposedly, a V-12 is naturally balanced, with an equal number of pistons in the same relative position at all times. That seems to be enough to allow for relatively smooth running without all cylinders firing.
I dunno if I'm as happy as you driving that beaut for the first time, but I'm a damn close second!
Haha!
Wow that V12 runs smooth! Awesome!
Yes it does!
I should also say I love that you're saving these representatives of a bygone era
That car cracks me up man what a trip nice job on the camera Steve
Love to see a ‘Hotrod Lincoln’ come out of this project.
Nice job, Steve.
Incredible how smooth it runs.
excellent job, steve! *moon riding in style!*
Heck yea!
Very cool.. would love to see you go all the way with this beast.. so nice.
Great presentation Steve, you and Matt work well together!
The eye hook through the inner fender made me laugh so hard I started spitting on myself. That's the funniest shit ever.
Great meeting you and Matt. Thanks for the invite.
Well done Steve.
Man that's a lot of car... when you pulled it out of the shop it just came, and came, and came some more. :)
Bad ass car love that you were able to save and get the v 12 going good job guys
Boy Moon looked happy riding in the car
That Lincoln has the potential to be a beautiful retro piece.
The monster is alive! Awesome
That is an absolute bucket list car right there!
Steve ,he was just trying to make a hi rise manifold out of it 😅😅😅😅.Makes you wander if the engine ever did run for him.😢😢.sounds great.
Lowered with a chopped Carson top would look Bad Ass. Awsome to see it up and running.
Agreed!
Now that’s cool!
I'd vote for this to become a a lowrider custom, the kind that your fellow you-tuber Mike Bellos does. Of course detecting and perfecting the "mad scientist's" vision would be quite a challenge but who could and would take it up?
That is a beautiful old car!❤️
🗿💨do you suppose the engine was vapor locking? Raised intake might have helped in such a case. Thanks for the update guys✌️👍
Good chance he was trying to avoid that
this car should be getting a paintjob in a dark champagne of a rose gold colour with cream wheels !
That car is quite amazing.
Loved it.
love the looks of this car! my old motto, first be able to steer, next be able to stop before you try to drive😂
