@@MrEysox its implied on the anime that the gods continiously "roll dices" to decide the fate of their "pawns", when a roll its "cast" thats it, that persons fate its decided, but goblin slayer literally can ignore those rolls, as some people mentioned above, his destiny was decided by a dice roll, but somehow he just gave them the finger and did what he wanted. You can se an example of this at the fight againts the ogre, he "should" have died there and then...but he was like "to hell with this" and basically murdered all becasue fuck it...he can and will do it
I think it's explained at some point in the anime. He doesn't accept fate as it is, so when he rolls a 1 and should have a critical failure, he turns it by sheer will into a critical strike instead. That's like his superpower. Could be translated to real life. Use your failures to your advantage. They are your greatest weapon and shield.

No inhuman elite training, birthline, ridiculous strenght or cheap magic. Just skill, tactics and experience. And the trauma and humanity aspect of gs makes it even better.

What I thing Iove about the series he's not the strongest he can't even defeat a goblin hero nor champion like Spearman and other silver ranks. He's not the sharpest tool in the yard but when it comes to disposing the goblins he's second to none. Both strategically and tactically.
You can thank Tolkien for creating Goblins and Orcs. Without him we would have no such things today. So all big franchises that use such things owe his work a lot...because he created such awesome worlds and set pieces to be adapted and for others to be inspired by. Fantasy would not be the same without him
ah this reminds me of the D&D party I have running currently and my party decided they wanted to play characters from other things and recently hey ran into one of my BBEGs which was a lich that was also the leader of a hoard/guiled (mostly consisting of orcs, goblins and skeletons) anyways the party and some of the guiled that they were apart of started a raid on the liches lair when they had gotten there threw out the raid they had lost countless members then they get there the room were the lich was before they opened the door the pyromancer (who was playing Roy Mustang from Fullmetal Alchemist at the time) casts fire ball in the room dealing a large amount to the BBEG, the battle ensues eventually one the members of the guild that the party had saved from a monster attack and was one of the favorite NPCs had just been brought down the two fighters (who was playing Guts from berserk and The Goblinslayer) enter a frensy one activating there Dragonslayer form they then charge at the king the battle swinging there blades like a caged animal the two fighters down to 8 HP the Cleric was down the mage only had cantrips left and the lich just healed itself but this time our mage (who was playing Naofumi from rising of the shield hero) made an arcana check when it healed itself and with the help of our rogue was able to find how it was healing itself which was a magic stone with the help of the monk (he was playing Jotaro Kujo from JoJo's bizarre adventure) they were able to beat. but this already super big and so I'm just end here there was allot more to the fight than that but this is really long as I already said
He was near death when fight with the goblin champion and have to pull the "demon" mode (i call it cause the red eye when he triggered make him look just like a demon) to take the eye out of that goblin to save his party

They sit in silence for a few minutes, their figures darkening out, until only silhouettes remain. The moon has risen high into the sky, bathing the landscape in its pale silver light. The demon is all but invisible, save for its bright, icy blue eyes. "Time to die." The demon says, inching forward. The man pulls his hood back, and off of his face. He looks at the demon with his own pair of bright icy blue eyes, the signature mark of a powerful demon. "The sun has set,and has given rise to darkness." The demon stumbles backward in confusion, "but your just a human! How you have the demons' power!?" "It doesnt matter, just die."

I like to think that whenever Goblin Slayer's eyes turn a bright red, it's Goblin Slayer rolling a D20 after continuously being rolled a D1.

ah this reminds me of the D&D party I have running currently and my party decided they wanted to play characters from other things and recently hey ran into one of my BBEGs which was a lich that was also the leader of a hoard/guiled (mostly consisting of orcs, goblins and skeletons) anyways the party and some of the guiled that they were apart of started a raid on the liches lair when they had gotten there threw out the raid they had lost countless members then they get there the room were the lich was before they opened the door the pyromancer (who was playing Roy Mustang from Fullmetal Alchemist at the time) casts fire ball in the room dealing a large amount to the BBEG, the battle ensues eventually one the members of the guild that the party had saved from a monster attack and was one of the favorite NPCs had just been brought down the two fighters (who was playing Guts from berserk and The Goblinslayer) enter a frensy one activating there Dragonslayer form they then charge at the king the battle swinging there blades like a caged animal the two fighters down to 8 HP the Cleric was down the mage only had cantrips left and the lich just healed itself but this time our mage (who was playing Naofumi from rising of the shield hero) made an arcana check when it healed itself and with the help of our rogue was able to find how it was healing itself which was a magic stone with the help of the monk (he was playing Jotaro Kujo from JoJo's bizarre adventure) they were able to beat. but this already super big and so I'm just end here there was allot more to the fight than that but this is really long as I already said
I would gladly join Goblin Slayer on this GLORIOUS adventure

He was near death when fight with the goblin champion and have to pull the "demon" mode (i call it cause the red eye when he triggered make him look just like a demon) to take the eye out of that goblin to save his party

Goblin Slayer is obviously at least a 9th level Fighter. He has the Indomitable feature - allowing him to reroll any failed saves. And dang is he lucky at it.

A man says looking at the setting sun. He wore a hood over his eyes.
"And that means easy prey for me. You humans are blind in the dark." A demon says, as it steps out of the brush behind him.
Its large, 9 foot on all fours, and vicious looking teeth and claws. Covered head to toe in grey scales that make it look bony in appearance. It had glowing blue eyes, the signature aspect of strong and powerful demons.
"You'll find that this query was ill chosen." The man turns to face the demon, and slowly unsheathes his katana, its metal singing praise for the blood it will devour.
"You humans are all the same, you believe your swords will cut through anything! Hahaha you will die just like the rest!"
"I can smell the deceased on your breath, it's quite foul. How many humans have you slaughtered?"
"It doesnt matter, human. Your corpse will be next to the pile."

"Why dont you attack me, demon?" The man looks around, "you wait until nightfall, so I will be unable to fight you evenly, eh?"
"Your pretty smart, human. But it will do you no good in a few minutes."
They sit in silence for a few minutes, their figures darkening out, until only silhouettes remain.
The moon has risen high into the sky, bathing the landscape in its pale silver light. The demon is all but invisible, save for its bright, icy blue eyes.
"Time to die." The demon says, inching forward.
The man pulls his hood back, and off of his face. He looks at the demon with his own pair of bright icy blue eyes, the signature mark of a powerful demon.
"The sun has set,and has given rise to darkness."
The demon stumbles backward in confusion, "but your just a human! How you have the demons' power!?"
"It doesnt matter, just die."
