I remember doing Camelback Mt. The trip down was worse than going up. You're tired legs start wobbling and running low on water. I did have some cold brews waiting. I will need to do Picacho. Also need to go to the White Mountains. Congrats on the hike and thanks for the video. You gave me some more great travel ideas.

Picacho Peak is a neat place. There is some history there no less. The only Civil War battle in AZ happened near there at Picacho Pass. Also the shallow cave has holes that ancient people used for grinding seeds and such into flours.

Hello Traveling Robert😊😊🎵🎵🎸🎸, 1st of all I had a wonderful road trip to Miami and the Keys. I had hoped that i would cross paths but unfortunately didn't. What an incredible hike up that mountain and those chains...Wow, what an incredible view. I was very worried that you only had one bottle of water left but you made it back. The views absolutely SPECTACULAR!! I'm looking forward to the next video as you head toward Salt River Canyon and Sho Low...i have been to both of those places and it's SPECTACULAR!! I can't wait to see that footage. Great video Robert👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍!!

Hey Robert, if you are going to continue doing treks like this, may I suggest at least a single trekking pole. They can take so much load off you legs, let alone giving you much more stability you as you get exhausted.
There are some that have camera mounts at the top, so you can use it as "selfie stick" as well.
I am approximately the same age and fitness level, but I do a lot of backpacking. I dont always use them, but i always have them with me. Especially on long treks or excessive elevation gains, they really help!

Hey Robert, happy Sunday! I've camped at Picacho a couple of times, one time a thunderstorm blew through and the rain was coming down in buckets! The last part of the hike to the peak is not for the faint of heart, but the view from the top is worth it! Did you see the Ostrich Farm when you were there? Love that sunset at the end. Happy trails!

As a full time rv'er I arrived in Arizona 4 years ago and never left it. Found 10 acres in the high desert with a well, electric and septic system all for $20,000.00. Put a Single Wide on it and have been a happy camper since then. But regret selling my rv now. Love the views I have of the mountains.

That’s a really good deal for all the amenities already there! We live in Catalina but in just ten years it’s so populated that I would like to get further out. They’re building on all of the desert land where the wildlife reside. I’d love to find some acreage out further. I don’t need a stick built house. We have a beautiful view of the Catalinas and I would miss that, but I hate being surrounded by people.

You had me at the grill marks on the burgers, bread, and melted cheese!🍔🥓🥰 Absolutely mouth-watering! You've started the morning off right before the hike!🥓🍳☕Going up Picacho Peak started off fairly smooth, so it seems, and then, it must have been intense the more you climbed up, I bet! All of the Cacti are beautiful, and the rock formations are beautiful, but they must have been challenging!😏Yay!🎉You've made it to the top🌄-that's very impressive( and so are the views looking down and far away)! And a mailbox📫 should be at every mountain for strenuous climbing/hiking, I think! What an awesome way to reward yourself in the end after making it down!🥩🌵🌄Beautiful Sunset!

It takes an hour (at least) to reach ANYTHING in Tucson! We have one expressway that runs all the way through, and one that reaches a very limited area. They didn’t plan well for the explosion of people moving here. I love Tucson but that part sucks. In San Diego I can reach almost every tourist area, the beaches, parks, in 15-30 minutes tops. Too expensive to live there though.
The other issue we have because of the lack of foresight in road planning is horrible traffic.

I used to hike Picacho almost weekly when I used to live in Tucson. It’s not that treacherous as it looks. You just have to watch your steps. It is fairly strenuous especially in the Summer time as it gets pretty damn hot. Wear a wide brimmed straw hat and long sleeve hiking shirt for sun protection.
