I adore "Unruly Heart", it gives me goosebumps every time I hear it, and assures me that I'm not alone.
"Somewhere" never fails to turn me into a sobbing mess. It's one of those rare parts of a play or movie that hits even harder after you know how the show ends.
I cry almost every single time I listen to You Will Be Found. I was bawling like a baby in the theater.
Come From Away should've been represented in here somewhere...Somewhere In The Middle Of Nowhere, or Finale come to mind as happy cry songs

The entire show just reduces me to weeping because the simple yet rare generosity of the people of Gander shames the rest of us.

Meanwhile, so many were hoarding it in the early days of COVID.
"For Good" is one of the hardest songs to sing. Not because of technique, but because you have to try your hardest not to cry when it's you or your co-star's last show

When I listened "Anthem" and "You matter to me" in the theatre, I was crying. I love these songs.
It feels like Mojo forgot their list was supposed to be Top 10 Broadway Songs That Make You Happy Cry less than half the way through and just included songs that make you sad sob and gave surface level explanations of why it could be happy.
RIGHT!?! I was watching the list and going... well yeah this makes people cry, but not out of joy!

“You Will Be Found” is my number one, gets me choked up every time.
Yes "You Will Be Found" is a lie of a song but man when you see it on stage it gets you emotional.
You Will Be Found will always hold a special place in my heart. I went to an arts high school (for creative writing, which, when you remember the role writing plays in Dear Evan Hansen, is pretty funny ngl), and it's tradition for the graduating seniors in the musical theatre and chorus departments to sing one last song together at graduation. The year I graduated, You Will Be Found was the song they chose.
Not sure why but I started sobbing when You’ll Never Walk Alone played!

“Slipping Through My Fingers” always makes me cry.
No Day But Today from RENT and Unruly Heart from Prom and Blackout from In The Hights are the only ones off the top of my head that can actually make me cry in happiness.

Excellent list and a lot of great classics on this list. For me, Ben Platt and company singing to You Will Be Found, always pulls at my heart strings in a really good way! Soundtrack of my modern broadway. Runner up to Wicked's For Good as well.
Ouch... "you'll never walk alone" hits differently now... a friend of mine lost her husband in a motorcycle crash last week. He was only 30, they'd only been married 5 years, and they just announced they were pregnant a month ago. 💔😞
I have never liked "You'll Never Walk Alone" The placement in the musical is bad. (spoiler) The man just committed suicide, no time for grief and you burst into a hopeful song to go on with life. I cringe every time I hear it played at graduations and funerals.

somewhere makes me cry all the time but i think we have different definitions of a "happy cry" cause it's just melancholy for me.

FINALLY! Chess gets the recognition it deserves! It's my favorite musical and it never gets recognized for its brilliance and beauty. The song One Night in Bangkok actually got super popular but it unfortunately didn't bring much traction towards the rest of the musical.
A few more basically all of Come From Away , Sister Act (Reprise) and Spread the Love Around from Sister Act, No One is Alone- ITW

I lost my V-Card while “For Good” from Wicked was playing. Not only are the lyrics apropos but it also has the right tempo for sexy time. It gets me misty in all areas (if you know what I mean, aka the between me down there). 😉

Top 10 Disney deaths that got too far
For Good always brings tears to my eyes. I can think of one other song that does that, but in that case, it's not Broadway (though is a musical) and it's a sad song (it's implied to be a character's suicide note) - and even then, I don't get chills from the song itself - you have to see it to cry over it, considering the only character who is totally not guilty wants to die.
I honestly wasn't sure if For Good was a happy cry or not. I think my problem is it's hard to separate the song from the fact that it's the end of a friendship.
What musical? The only one that’s coming to mind for me is Shinbone Alley/archy and mehitabel, but that’s probably not it

@Liam The musical is Heathers. As I said, it's a sad crying scene. The song is called Kindergarten Boyfriend. One of the main characters sings it just before she throws herself off a bridge. Mainly because the boy she'd been in love with for twelve years was dead, the school bullied her relentlessly and even her best friend admitted to playing a cruel prank on her and then told her to get over it (she actually was trying to protect her but had to hurt her to do it). If you're wondering, the attempt fails and her best friend reconciles with her at the end. By that point, four of the eight major characters have died, three by murder and made to look like suicides, one by last-minute sacrificial suicide.
@@jackwells8107 In never looked at "For Good" as the end of their friendship. Yes, they are parting ways but the friendship still remains. So that makes it a happy cry for me.
I'm convinced that Mojo doesn't deeply research the shows that they use in their videos. Half of their plot explanations were either surface-level or plain wrong. Most of these songs are worthy of ugly tears, not happy ones.

The song from "Wicked" that always makes me happy cry isn't "For Good", but "Defying Gravity". Granted, in my case, it's probably more the excitement and power of the song, in that particular context, that makes me break out into tears of joy.
