    The DirecTV Gemini Air. Are you using one of these devices? If not, which is your favorite to use with DirecTV stream?

    I have had the Direct TV Stream over Internet for about 5 months now. Really my 1st time streaming at all as my local cable discontinued their service. Tried a Fire Stick for about 2 months before DTV. MUCH happier with the DTV as it's 90% like using cable with the channel guide numbers and the remote also having the the number pad. It works every bit as well as having cable. No more glitches than cable. I got the Gemini Air for free because of the 2 yr agreement (actually did that before I even realized that DTV Stream over internet and DTV Stream were 2 different things). I would highly recommend the device and DTV Stream. The cloud DVR works just fine. You can choose to record entire series (both reruns and new episodes OR just new episodes) **it occasionally glitches there when you choose just new episodes and will try to record all episodes....not often...but at times)

      Wow! Thank you for the detailed experience. Yeah we like the Gemini Air so far. DirecTV stream is working well with it. We also like the remote. This one actually is a little lighter than the previous one with the Osprey box and feels overall better in hand. Glad to hear you're enjoying the Gemini Air and service.

    Highly recommend buying your own and using DTV Stream just like they show in this video, I purchased two Air's and two Osprey boxes for my main tv's and my bedrooms and i've been very happy

      Glad to hear it's still working well for you and still enjoying it since your first update. While being a bit expensive if someone loves DTV stream, it is worth it. We like the pendant (dongle) version that was used in the video because it's also a space saver plugging in like a Google branded Chromecast device does.

      Do the Air devices perform better than the Osprey's? If so how? I have 2 Osprey's on the way to me and hoping they do the job. I recently subscribed to Stream and have been using Roku to this point. The Osprey's were cheap and I hope they perform well.

    • @CFL-TECH
      @CFL-TECH  7 месяцев назад +1

      The Osprey box performs good but the Gemini Air does appear to run a little smoother with guide scrolling. It may also start up a little quicker when first turning on the TV. That's about all we have noticed. The Gemini Air does cost about $200 if you purchase from an outside source. The Osprey boxes should be fine. You can also sell them if you decide to upgrade one day.

      Yes, I recommend finding a used Gemini Air, it has become my main device i even use it as my Plex Client now and watch 4K UHD movies on it. Very nice piece of hardware. The Osprey boxes do the job but they got pushed out to my garage, office and guest bedroom@@MSDOGS1976

    I have directv stream (non contract) with the original box & remote and love it. Have tried every other service and this one is the best. It also has regional sports which is a plus for me. The older box got the update so it runs smooth and i like the home screen. Good service overall, its very cable like feel to it.

    • @CFL-TECH
      @CFL-TECH  3 месяца назад

      DirecTV stream is certainly a solid service. They really have just about any channel if you really want it. Like you mentioned, the regional sports options are a plus and we think the best sports offerings overall of any live streamer. Thank you for the update on the older box getting the update 😉

    A little update the Roku ultra does a better job with sound, you get true Dolby Digital + Dolby surround in 3/2/.1. And it does sound better, richer and fuller vs the PCM on the Gemini Air device. Another thing the Roku player does better is handle 4K and Dolby Vision. You aren't forced to watch everything in Dolby Vision, it only comes on when the material matches. I actually like DirecTV Stream on the Roku better for both audio and PQ. Wish they would update the Gemini Air to perform as well because it does have some advantages such as the return/back button and keypad, including direct app access.

    • @CFL-TECH
      @CFL-TECH  6 месяцев назад +1

      Those are some good comparisons there. Thank you for sharing! Agreed! The experience on the Roku is arguably the best. Roku is an important platform for everyone that's in the platform being how large it is. The Gemini Air could use some tweaks and hopefully we'll see some updates soon.

    A few things not mentioned, it has a back button on the remote, you can also punch the channel number like traditional boxes. Also, it does support Dolby Vision and surround in PCM 3/2/.1. But not true DD+DS like RUclipsTV does. For me not a dealbreaker because you can get so many more channels like Reelz with OPL along with NewsMax, neither of the channels offered on YTTV. Also, PQ is excellent with 1080 available and everything is 60 FPS. YTTV has the best UI of any streaming devices but lacking several must channels. There are a few channels missing on the DTV stream vs satellite like MavTV and The Cowboy channel, but most others missing are just filler channels nobody watches anyway. IMO DirecTV Stream is the best option for streaming right now, and I've tried them all.

      Thank you for mentioning those other items. When doing these videos there is a good amount to cover, so there may be something that wasn't mentioned. The videos can also be an hour long if we cover all items. This is why there is a comments section so great viewers can add value. 😉Yes indeed there is an important back button and the numbers buttons, which are both great to have.
      With several popular live TV streaming services and many package options, channels will be missing from just about every package for just about everyone. It may be more of a matter of finding which one has the least amount of channels that you may want that are missing. That's why we say always check each service out and go through each package. The great news is just about all have a FREE trial and also month to month options without contracts.

    Does the Gemini start up like a regular satellite set box? For example when you turn on the tv does it automatically go to the Dirctv channels or do you have to scroll to open the Directv Stream?

    • @CFL-TECH
      @CFL-TECH  4 месяца назад

      The Gemini Air device will open DirecTV stream if you press on the home or guide buttons. Of course if you turned off the TV and left it on the HDMI setting for DirecTV stream when you power the TV on it will open it up on the last channel you had on DirecTV stream. Similar to cable or satellite. Of course some TV setups could cause different behavior but they should generally work the same.

    Does Direct TV charge the 15.00 monthly charge for this when you bring your own

    • @CFL-TECH
      @CFL-TECH  8 месяцев назад

      If you use the Gemini Air on DirecTV stream there is no fee, however you'll need to buy it from somewhere other than DirecTV. They won't sell you one to use on DirecTV stream. If you use DirecTV over Internet you have to do the 2-year agreement for the price lock and you pay the $15 a month fee. Directv over internet and DirecTV stream both use the internet to stream, however they are different types of plans.

    dolby vision content available?

    • @CFL-TECH
      @CFL-TECH  8 месяцев назад +1

      DirecTV says Dolby vision is available. We haven't seen an option. There is HDR 10 that shows it's icon when the app loads up. There is also 4:2:2 Chroma which offers improved picture quality and detail for compatible TV's connected with HDMI 2.X or newer cables.

    Can I buy a Gemini Air on Ebay - then sign it with my Directv Stream Account and not incur any additional fees? I would like to find a refurbished one actually.

    • @CFL-TECH
      @CFL-TECH  7 месяцев назад

      Yes you can purchase one from a private seller. You just set it up and sign into your DirecTV stream account. No additional fees as well. They treat it as if you were using a Roku or any other device.

      @CFL-TECH I Purchased a stream box from eBay (new in box) however when I try to sign in it gives me an error code 201 basically saying wrong credentials. my credentials work fine on my iPad/iphone. Any idea why?

    • @CFL-TECH
      @CFL-TECH  6 месяцев назад

      That's a good question. Is it a care code or error code? Were you or are you a current DirecTV Sattelite customer? Care codes are associated with the Directv satellite service. DirecTV stream and satellite use different login credentials. If you go to the Direct TV forums there are a few topics that pop up. They also have support in the forum from reps.

      Gotcha! Sorry we didn't input any numbers in the video. Freddie Tech does say that it does work well when entering the channel numbers. It's about as responsive as a cable remote. DirecTV stream is about as close to a cable experience you'll get from live TV streaming.

      @CFL-TECH  7 месяцев назад

      Directv stream is a very good reliable service. It depends on which channels are the most important. The base plans are only a $7 difference. If someone likes A&E and Reelz Network, then DirecTV stream may make sense to pay the $7 a month.
