Another example of a plot hole sinking the entire enterprise as it were was when Zane wrote Barbara back into existence without giving an explanation, it's like in comics when a character dies and comes back a year later the writers have to create explanation that makes sense in the world they're writing in if not people would end up like Zane and Jagger.
I would love it if AW2 has a scene with Alan writing and we see the scene reshaping as he goes, the scene starting out sinister and reshaping before us as he nails down each detail to leave no room for the dark place to twist it.
I think this time reality is going to change before our eyes in some parts from what I saw sofar that is what happens there's a part were Alan does a fully gravity blast that sends a massive sound blast forward bit to me it look like there's a indication that aw2 will definitely point hints at control style there already using controls layout style even the words pop up displaying your mission objectives definitely has control mechanic's but there's a part during the the reveal footage were Alan does a massive sound wave blast and we see the dimension shifts from normal reality to the other reality it almost look similar to Jack Joyce powered up sound blast move which definitely is telling us as fan quantum break definitely is in the remedy universe but we all know quantum break is Microsoft I think uncle Phil and samlake needs a sit down and talk I know uncle Phil loves the remedy games aswell but maybe remedy decided to let quantum break go and make a new version of Jack Joyce through Tim breaker I almost cried when I saw Martin hatch acting as Mr door magnificent actor r.i.p Lance Reddick
I personally imagine that probably each thing Alan changes takes some amount of 'energy' out of the story, so I love the idea of him using extremely terse sentences to nail down key details in the story, and making the rest an inevitable implication. It's got the feel of watching a master craftsman create something with just a few simple motions, but somehow the exact piece they intended comes out.
Just the fact his style changes tells us that he is learning on how to manipulate the dark place. One could argue if it is a better or worse prose than his original style. But for the purposes of this dimension it is better.
the "A story is not a machine that does what you tell it. A story is a beast with a life of its own." line of Alan Wake is so powerful it became my philosophy in writing and making stories either in actual writing or in artform. easily one of my personal fave episodes
I keep coming back to that line a lot. I use it as a Turing Test for literature at this point. Does it feel like the author forced events or does the story feel organic.
This Night Springs episode is one that I like due to the whole ‘i don’t know what else to write’ part. It does seem to mirror Alan, who is struggling to write something in the beginning of AW1, and if I’m correct Alan does take some of his old writing (like Alex Casey, Night Springs) and try to incorporate those characters and locations to escape, which I find interesting. Also with the Dark Presence literally needing creative people to get it to escape, you can say that the Dark Presence… has an Absence Of Creativity… Good video
One thing I'd add is I find it appropriate that the 'creator' here is voiced by the same actor for Dr. Hartman. Absence of Creativity and needing others indeed.
I learned years ago that when Tolkien ran into trouble when writing a chapter he would just go back to beginning and rewrite the whole thing and he got a bit further each time.
One trick I'm trying to do is write the whole thing and not worry about the quality. Then on the second draft worry about quality and redo it all. I'm working on some short stories of my own and having difficulties lol.
I reckon AW2 releasing is going to be like breaking the surface after free diving, a whole new world (or worlds) to drink in just as you thought you were going to run out of air. I look forward to it.
So basically if you lose the plot everything could come tumbling down and you're back at square one, Alan must've made that mistake a few times already otherwise he'd be back in New York with Alice already.
Either the greatest of writing genius or deliberately poking complete fun at themselves, Remedy have managed to create a setting where when asked the question "how does this work?"; The answer "uhhhh idunno" can become an entire antagonist for a game or the entire basis of a character. Literally anyrhing the writers want to explore or do can be done, because the answer for why internal logic doesnt have to carry over between games is "because something has changed the rules"
I love this setting because it is a weirdly good head space for a writer to be in. Anything contrivance or plot hole can cause bad things to happen. So you better pay attention to what you're doing.
He TRIED giving himself super powers for a bit in the first story, the ability to imagine words and turn them into things. But as often as it was useful, it got twisted against him. Things were far more grounded in the latter game.

Head-canon: The man standing in the narrative void is played by the writer of the episode.
The host in Alan Wake talking about Alex Casey is the same guy who shot himself in quantum theory skit he also voiced the scientist in this video
Yeah I believe his name is Mark Blum. Played Hartman, Maurice Horton, Dr. Barclay Colvin, etc.

I'd like to hear your theory about how Alan has been stuck in the Dark Place using a typewriter for so many years but still types like a noob.
Some people like the two finger peck typing. Who knows.
That's the real reason it's taking so long for him to write his way out of the Dark Place 😄
I know of an author that's published almost 100 books all told that freely admits to typing like that!
@@lyzzle True, an author shouldn't be judged by how they type. Everyone's got a style

notice the perfect voice match for one of the ladies at start with Kimmy Robertson (Lucy Moran) from Twin Peaks
