@t90Official in the first qualifier you mentioned you were planning a place in The Netherlands for around 200 people to watch the hidden cup tournament. Can you please update now or in a video once u have all the information how this will be arranged? Would love to be there, but only follow you on youtube.
Me to! I have never even had AOE of any kind or played a single second but I had a random T90 video recommended to me right around HC1 time. Been watching him since. Took a bit of time to pick up what was going on and what meant what but I have a decent grasp of the game now but still haven't played it

Seeing nili get crushed by K4sva, then seeing k4sva get crushed by Dogao really puts perspective on how high level the top 10 really are compared to the rest of the top players.
Dogao has a really similar style to (tournament) Viper, he's all about the eco, defence at home, macro plays, building just enough military to keep himself secure. He looks like he might be in trouble when really he's in control of the pace of the game. His micro isn't quite at viper/hera/leirry levels but if he makes it to main event I bet there's a bunch of people who think Dogao is Viper because they play so similar.

@@MawksProductions assuming you're right, my suggestion just means it will be unchecked and ignored at intermediate+ games, just like cheats are. Then there's no issue with people's claims that it unbalances or takes from the game's feeling. Plus then it suggests to the beginners that in a bit they should be riding their scout-bike without stabilisers as their skill increases.
@@josephstevens5489 Yeah the problem I have with your position is that I'm not really convinced there is a clear analogy between cheats and auto-scouting. Cheats always bring you an unmistakable advantage at any level, whereas the relative use of auto-scouting sharply declines as your skill level goes up. Auto-scouting doesn't push your deer, it doesn't harrass unloomed enemy villagers, it doesn't tactically scout enemy resources or military buildings to see what's up... the only thing it does is make your scout go in an ever larger circle around your base. For me there is a much clearer analogy between auto-scouting and say auto-reseeding of farms. At a higher level you'll also avoid auto-reseeding because it is a sometimes inefficient use of your resources.
@@MawksProductions all true. I'm an intermediate player, I could win against any noob if not massively drunk or memeing yet I get run over by anyone definitely good. Never reached but close to 1700 HD. I could see myself using autoscouting in castle age when busy with booming / attacking / defending in order to find extra resources and relics. But though I can imagine myself using it somehow it would feel a bit dirty and unearned. E.g also it could be used to find holes in fully walled bases, I don't like that much.
@@josephstevens5489 I do see it has use as it frees up space to do something else instead of having to micromanage it. But I just don't think this will ever really matter in competitive play since all the pro's actively micromanage their scouts to get the most use out of them. This is a useful tool for absolute beginners and I don't think it should be considered "dirty" or "unearned" in that regard because AOE2 is a game with a ridiculously steep learning curve and I think we should applaud any serious attempt to make the game more accessible.

I didn't understand why in game 3 dogao didn't focus the crossbows with his knights and use the monks on the elephants. It was such an important fight and i feel like he didn't bother to micro at all.
I've been watching a little bit of K4SVA and I think he's only getting better. To put something in perspective, Dogao is a top ten player and number 6 on leaderboard, this is extremely impressive play by any standard.

The frame rate or slight amount of glitch of this video is rough. Just watch a scout walk around for example. looks like micro stuttering or something.
I personally don't like the new cross map/style. In the earlier maps the one who controlled 2, 3 or even all 4 ponds had a huge benefit. In the future whoever controlls 3 or 4 ponds will have an even bigger benefit. Maybe its good though, I don't know.
I have seen so many pro players get housed with persains, especially on hybrid maps with multiple docks and 1 tc due to the increased dock and tc work rate. Its a shame to see my favorite civ being played so poorly.
I might be missing some information on this but wasn't this supposed to be a best of 7? If so, why did they only play until one player had 3 wins? There should be at least one more game because, theoretically, K4SVA could still win this qualifier.
I wonder why Khmer doesn't get picked on Slopes as it would be easy to send vills on both the deer and the fish, build a house there and collect, if scouts or drush comes in, just garrison the vills in the house. I don't know if that would pay for the Indians bonus on the fish or not, or the cheap vills, I don't know...
You still need not only a house, but also a mill (neither hunters nor fishermen are farmers), which can be a strain on your wood this early. Also, while not easy to massacre, the vills are still easy to idle.

And I'm quite sure TheViper knows, but just got asked the stupid question - "Under what name are you playing in the HC3?". Viper is a known troll, so I'm quite sure his answer is legit - yet blatantly untrue and stupid to the level of question asked.
For the main event, "Style Points" would be a funny way to give players a bit of a reward. For instance... Make an emote and if chat spams it for an awesome quick-wall or something equally epic. The top 3 players who get a style spam from chat would get like $5
Playing a fun lobby or ai game ill auto scoooot , but yeah if you play ranked its only goof mid - late after you assess the main things you need on maps So I think it's fine

probably the same reason viper banned vietnamese last hidden cup, he wanted more good civs on the table for himself to choose. rather than limiting his opponent he wanted to broaden his own options
i dont like how t90 talks to his aids. "overly guy" is just an example. i think he should be more respectful and grateful. he is just wrong if he thinks he was allowed here not because he was humble before..

one thing i like about aoe tournament is there are players from all around the world instead of dominated by koreans

Autoscouting should have an option to be used or not in the pre game settings, just like how cheats are.

We RON players are used to autoscouting... although some may feel it noobs who make use of it, it allows you to focus on other areas of the game...

Self control may well be two words, but restraint is only one. You can also hyphenate self-control so that it is technically one word.
