You can tell this kid's mom and dad had music playing constantly while he was in the womb, music playing around the house and in the car, music everywhere. He feels it like it's part of him. Not even thinking about counting, just feeling it.
Strong likelihood that one, or probably more, family member(s) are experienced musicians too. Hearing music is good, but not enough. Which is why I've been littering my house with instruments since I even thought about having kids.
It is only a matter of time when Geddy and Alex invite him out and play… this kid is amazing on drums but is a really special kid to have the understanding of this huge pile of musical notes and timing issues…. He plays beyond his years and is a blessing!!

I legitimately cannot wrap my head around how good he is. Neil Peart is one of THE greats. Joey, Jay, and Dave Grohl are/were incredible musicians as well and a 7 year old is covering their songs damn near flawlessly. Caleb is something truly special and I hope he stays with drumming. That was fantastic, Yoyoka-level playing. That’s a really hard song. Most of the drummers I know would have a hard time with it. He made it look like it was easy for him. Killer cover.
Andrew, your reactions to young Caleb pretty much says everything I could say. I retired my sticks after 50+ years of drumming due to arthritis and many injuries and it took me years to get to his level of playing.
Poise, focus, a very professional drummer that any band would lucky to have perform with them. Caleb could (and I hope very much he does) take this skill anywhere he wants to go. An amazing young man and much respect to his parents for supporting him. Cheers

I'm a retired club drummer who always loved Neil but could never perform close to anything he did. I would just like to mention the ghost notes this kid was playing with his left hand on the back half of the verses. Simply incredible. The clip from Kick Boxer is so appropriate. While this kids' playing is nowhere near the perfection that Neil had, his ability to perform as incredibly well as he does, at age 7, is simply astounding. I never really got to work on any RUSH tunes when I played because none of the other band mates I had wanted to play the songs. I believe that they, like myself, actually doubted their ability to perform the songs live. No big deal I guess, but I would liked to have tried a song or two. Anyway, great video Sir, and congrats to this young man for what he has achieved so far. I will be very curious to see where he goes if he chooses to continue his study of the drums as he gets older...
The ability for a 5 6 7 year old kid to have enough focus on one thing all by itself is impressive enough . . . but the fact he found something so early that suits him is a little luck . . . and parents that obviously support his efforts . . .and are in the position to finance those efforts . . . the best of all worlds coming together here.
I remember the first time I saw Tony Royster juniors performance at a drum festival at age 9 I believe. Caleb is definitely on track to meet if not exceed the talent Tony showed at that age, and I think he was taught by Dennis Chambers! This kid is something else 👏🏻👏🏻

Lol sure made other songs back then pretty simple to figure out! No lessons ever from a teacher! But very frustrating back then! Great videos you put out!

The crossovers are phenomenal. This little man is 7?! I hate that I was deprived of Rush during my parents fundamentalists Christian era. Who knows where I would be now?… Two things I know today, 1, I would be a better drummer today. 2, you would know who the hell I am. I come from a brokeass family from Kentucky that would let me progress. Nothing would ever stop me from being the drummer I am. Not looking to tour the world. Not looking to top the charts. I just want to play and have people dancing. And hell yeah, I can make a dancer dance to Rush. I am not only a drummer, I love to dance. Thanks Andrew!

You can tell by his smile. It's not a forced smile. He KNOWS he's good, he knows he likes the music, and that smile when he finished playing was as broad as mine when I first finished Super Mario when I was at his age. Genuine.
I don’t see what the big deal is. I started taking drum lessons when Signals came out in 1982 when I was 12. I started learning subdivisions back then and I still can’t play it at 52. 😂
His dad needs to get better equipment for this kid (mics and camreras) But I totally get when you mean I also teach kids-adults, and it cam be difficult to just get a 7 year old to even realize they are playing 'beat'. I can't imagine how this kids brain can be even fast enough to understand what he is doing. Its amazing. Or maybe his dad is a perfectionist. And he actually has no idea what he's really doing. But his dad just forced him to mimic what he does or some shit. Truly blows my mind
There's another kid who's 14-15 now but started posting to RUclips around 5-6yo named Avery Molek and he's also played with some big names onstage but I'd love to see who has taught him at such a young age to play these songs and double bass etc.. it's truly mind boggling 🤘🏼🥁🤘🏼

See, what i want is to see his parents' teaching style. I think thats where the secret to skill at a young age lies.
There's another kid who's 14-15 now but started posting to RUclips around 5-6yo named Avery Molek and he's also played with some big names onstage but I'd love to see who has taught him at such a young age to play these songs and double bass etc.. it's truly mind boggling 🤘🏼🥁🤘🏼
