HI Petr! I have a CL and a TL2 with an 18 mm and a 11-22 mm zoom and 56 sigma 1.4. with this 3 lenses i am so happy. The cameras are a bit difficult to learn how to used at the beginning , especially for a Canon user like me. But after a year i am really happy about the 2 cameras , light , sturdy and a fantastic sense of being part of a myth. File are amazing . I highly recommend to shot 1600 iso , it release a typical laica grain! Enjoy life Petr!
Hey Mauro, that 11-22m is on my list - heard only good things about that lens! TL2 must be fun with the 18mm pancake, hmm... and I will try that Leica grain at ISO 1600 - thanks for the tip! Cheers :)
Thank you for this video. I used to have a SL2-S beside my Q2 and needed to sell it as of problems with my shoulder, I need to work with a light equipment. Since then I have the CL and appreciate this solid camera especially for its high quality and a great menustructure just as with the SL and Q2. Since I had many cameras in my life I find the CL to be one of the best, much underrated as many people hunt behind big sensors and megapixels. Sure, thats fine, but not essential unless you print A1 or bigger. I had some appreciations and mastershots at LFI and 1x and there is no difference, if the sensor is APS-C or full frame.
I agree with you completely! CL is such an underrated camera and I only hope that Sigma/Panasonic will make a L-mount APS-C camera body that I can use with my TL lenses in future.
I honestly think Leica CL has the best controls ever. It’s just two simple dials for the three photography essentials: aperture, shutter speed, and ISO, nothing more.
The Leica CL is the smallest Leica with the option to use zoom lenses. The user experience is similar to the other digital Leica’s. I own a Leica CL, M10 and SL. But the CL is small and amazing. And comparing the CL with Fuji’s, I own a X-E3, X-H1 and X-Pro 2, the Leica has less clutter and makes even more amazing pictures out of the box
I’d really love a CL, but my trusty Sony RX1 still fulfills my need when I’m not carrying my SL2-S, and the RX1 is full frame with that sweet Zeiss glass.
I've been using the the Cl for about three years and I thinks it's great. Its got a and easy to use menu system and it's light weight. Rather than a CL2 what I would really like is longer zoom that the 55-135 that's now available that is sized for APS-C. Yes there full frame L mount zooms available from Lumix and Sigma but they are unnecessarily heavy if you plan on sticking to the APS-C format.
I think we can expect Sigma to release more L-mount APC lenses. I would not bet on Leica bringing longer TL lenses than what's on offer now. Still the CL is great, I agree.
Really want to like this CL, put it into shopping cart many times and deleted many times. But can’t justify the price in comparison to the twin brother wearing Japanese brand. I ended up bought a Q2 instead, it’s full frame, faster lens and bigger sensor for similar price.
Hi. You sound pretty sure a CL2 is coming - do you think that's likely? With IBSC and a better viewfinder and a small joystick maybe like SL2. That would be amazing. Do you think it will come?
One disappointing thing about the CL is that Leica decided to remove the digital distance scale, which appears on the TL/TL2. This takes away the option to do some easy zone focusing with e.g. the 18mm.
@@PetrGardianTVBecause there is a risk that it would have adversely affected the sales of their digital Ms. I came across a rumour that there will not be a Leica CL2 as they want to exclusively make Full-Frame cameras; however there will be a digital Leica M without the rangefinder focusing, it will be a Mirrorless M.
@@FART-REPELLENT Unfortunately, crop sensor is not 'luxury enough' and that is what Leica has become - a luxury brand. It makes sense - you can charge more with bigger margins but it takes away these niche systems like TL2/CL which is a shame. Maybe Sigma will come up with a high megapixel FF camera with EVF based on fp L - such things would allow us to continue using the great Leica L-mount APS-c lenses on modern body.
I am new to the world of photography and have been clicking photographs until now on my smartphone. I want to start clicking photographs using a proper camera. Please suggest which one should I purchase.
Fuji X100V - if you can find it. Fuji X-E4 with the new 27mm f2.8 lens - if you want to spend a little bit less. Used Fuji X-E3 with any lens - if you are on budget. Good luck!
Hello, Petr, thanks for your review. Could you please comment / advise about the lack of IBIS. It doesn't seem a problem for you, do you have a work round? Gerry
Hi Gerry, IBIS for me is really only crucial for handheld video. For stills the current camera sensors are so good at high ISO that I can always dial it up and keep (relatively) fast shutter speed.
thanks for the video. Is it true that the Leica CL has much better colors than the Fujifilm t3? I heard that Leica TL (16Mp) has even better color. Don't you know about it? Share your experience. I want to buy Leica TL based on this idea. Sincerely, Vladimir.
Fuji colours are different from Leica indeed. You can check my comparison between Leica and Fuji 23mm lenses - those were used on the CL and X-PRO 3 - it;'ll give you an idea of the colours. The CL has the classic more saturated Leica colours, which some prefer (me included). In general I do find RAW files from CL easier to work with than from any Fuji camera, the Leica files need less work as well and often don't need anything to be done to them. I can't comment on 16mp TL colours but if it was me I'd go for the TL2, which has same sensor as CL and is miles ahead of T/TL in speed and performance. Hope this helps!
@@PetrGardianTV thanks, I'm thinking of buying a leica CL already. Your answer was very important to me. Did you know that there is a close focus adapter for this system that gives full life to leica M,R optics.
Decisions, decisions. It seems like a reasonable entry point into the mystical world of Leica and the lens ecosystem seems far and broad - Plus last but not least, being a Fuji guy, I'm not easily impressed by other manufacturer's out of camera Jpeg efforts. The Leica CL seems to be rather outstanding on the Jpeg front for someone who doesn't care for RAW processing.
I don't shoot SOOC jpegs with my CL but am happy to hear they can be good. If I was buying the CL now, I'd get just the body and then some Sigma lenses. It makes perfect sense and my bank account would be in better shape :)
@@PetrGardianTVSilly question - am I wrong by saying most Sigma lenses have no manual aperture rings? Big no-no for me if that is mostly the case! I prefer full manual operation. So if the 56/1.4 is even better it will be a great fit for CL (if that FL is what you like and use).

There is only one real Leica -- film M series. This digital thing is just a gimmick which like all digital will be soon forgotten. I see no real reason to buy that instead of anything from Fuji, Canon or Nikon. Maybe only just from curiosity? Yes -- build quality is nice, controls are well though out and unique, overall picture quality is also good. But overall? This is not an M camera with a long list of modern or vintage lenses, with unique style of shooting -- it's just same as using any other digital.
Sorry but I have to disagree. The build quality is far better than nice, picture quality is far better than good and you can use all of the M glass, with the Leica adapter. I have Leica and Nikon bodies and glass and the CL is by far my favourite camera.
It's difficult to compare film and digital cameras. I could agree with you if you said 'the only real Leica is the M series (regardless if digital or film) but I am actually happy Leica decided to keep up with other camera makers and are offering such a wide variety of products that are all really good. There is M11 coming in November so the same event may be used to show off CL2 as well. Leica need to keep the APS-C system alive and it's been 4 years since the CL was released.
