Can I suggest growing some strawberries underneath your asparagus. I’ve found that my asparagus does extremely well with it as a companion planting. I am gathering more berries and spears than before
Hey thanks for that!
What variety of strawberries do you grow?
@@MrThumper1440 I am pretty sure they are Festival. Our trick is that all the strawberry tops that we don’t eat, get buried in that bed. The plants are doing great, producing more than ever and new plants are always emerging.
Thank you!
You may not lol
Crazy good video. I can't believe he was able to identify something like a hundred plants by sight as he walked among them. _So_ impressive!
Josh is a guru!!
how inspirational! the fact that they accomplished all of this in a year is absolutely amazing
I've watched this video about 6 times. And again this morning. Really need to get myself in to work but can't stop absorbing all this fascinating into. Thank you so much!
😁😁😁
Josh is doing such incredible work for us Florida gardeners! Thanks for the awesome video!!
Forsure!
Put me down for a mixed box of mangos!!! Would love to try a bunch of different varieties before planting any more.
I have an acre of land in Bunnell and this is my goal!! Will definitely be checking out some plants to purchase from y’all!
Great!
I am on the Treasure Coast of east Florida and I have been growing a large asparagus plant continually for 3 years now and this year I got a pretty decent harvest from it with very tender and tasty shoots. I didn't know it was supposed to be difficult because I have had no problem at all. I got the plant(s) in a 6 pack from Walmart and just put the container right in a self watering planter box. Iij n fact I was even able to get 2 new plants this year from planting the seeds of my current one. The new plants are very small right now but are doing well.
The recording quality is great here. At one point I swore there were birds above me, never mind I was inside! Of course I want one of everything. Zone 9A north of Tampa.
Thanks!
You can order a handful of these plants at www.Codycovefarm.com
Lol. I had to mute to see if the sound was coming from outside.
Stellar business strategy and strategy for propagating great crops
Absolutely!
your farm looks like my yard... love it.
Love your passion and excitement! Recently purchased some of your chomolia cuttings and am looking forward to trying it! Thanks for sharing and keep growing! 👍🌿💚
How are they growing for you? Be sure they are getting some shade this time of year!
Thank you for sharing! Building food forest in North Florida. Great video!
Keep growing!!
Also interested in your passion fruit.

Congratulations!! That is sooo exciting! Can't wait to visit! Good job!
I'm in Vero Beach. Looking forward to meeting you at some point.
Wow 🤩 how nice to see a awesome video like that, you’re doing a fantastic job congrats..
Pakistani mulberries are amazing! On my land the first years after my mulberry trees began to produce the fruits were disapointing; skinny, quite sweet but flavorless...then all of a sudden they began to produce awesome fruits! Gigantic fleshy delicious mulberries! The trees just needed some time to adjust to my soil...
This is exciting news. I'm glad I found your channel. I'm in Australia but where I am we have the same climate.
Yes I’ve heard! I follow a few gardening folks from your area.
@@floridafreeliving I'm on the Gold Coast. It's so hot and humid ATM I can't wait for the cooler weather.
I am learning a lot from you of what can grow in Northern Florida. Thank you!
Wow! This was an amazing video! You have so many varieties of bananas and it was neat to learn about some of the more rare plants and fruits. Great video!
Beautiful! I can hardly wait to visit!
Awesome video brother! I'm up in lake city growing all kind of tropicals and traditional fruits . I would love to get one of those mulberry from you. Even just a cutting! Thank you in advance! Btw I have a white shatoot i can trade!
Great video! Ebon Musak is one of our favorite varieties of banana.
Wow! Great Video ! Cant wait to visit when you are up and running !
Absolutely!
Found your site today and subscribed. I'm in Florida 9b. Love your gardens.
Good to have you! 😁
Your close to water helps warm the air. I'm in 9b also please let me know when I can visit and purchase plants.
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Hope to get some of the finley onions when I get down there this summer!
They should be up and available on the website if you haven’t sourced any yet.

This information is Gold and what you are doing is the Lord's work. I live in central Florida. Thank you. I Think I've seen you on Pete's channel. I plan on ordering some stuff from you. God bless!
Man this is awesome
I love what you have growing on. I am trying to do the same thing here in the virgin islands. The frur tree and other tree our local nursery don't have and other farmer in my area are not growing. Keep us posted on when you web site is up, because I need some of those plants.
The website is up and running. 👍🏼

Your food forest is amazing 🤗 I would love to grow guava and you have the right climate for it 👍
Are you northern FL?
Beautiful❤
I am beginning to think that FL is the best place to live if a person is looking for self sufficiency!
Incredible work. When may we start buying to grow edible perennials in our backyard? Small, small scale. :)
Right now! 😁

I finally found you Josh! Really interesting you're mainly growing Sh3640 and namwah, because I spent the last few years trialing a bunch of bananas varieties in 9A(citrus county), and Namwah, SH3640 and Orinoco stood out to me as being the best at recovering from heavy frost. Though, the Orinoco is just a guess because its a banana I find growing and fruiting in wild near kings bay, and it makes very square angular bananas, so I figured it was Orinoco. Even out of these 3 Namwah seems to be the best at handling cold ime. I really want some of the plants you showed in this video for my 1acre food forest, Ill keep an eye on your store, but I would rather pick up.
I have all these and more growing in Dunnellon (Marion county)
I live in bartow we are only 20 min apart. i have i very similar situation with the heat in my yard, my yard is on a hill in between a steaming canal and a sun baked road so even when the surrounding areas got down to 26 my papayas didnt even get burned. Also there is a 60 well 40 foot( they pruned it) mango tree across the canal. Been there for 40 years the lady said. And its very Exposed. I would love to come over and see what tou got going on. My food forest is only about 2 years old and most of it is only a year to 6 months old but its really starting to take off. I could gain alot by picking your brain... guess thats what your vids are for, glad i found your channel. Still would love to see it in person that would be dope.
Excellent!! I may be ordering rom him in the future! We need more like him! I noticed on many of his bananas the lowers leaves are falling down before they are done, this can indicate a calcium deficiency possibly too acidic soils preventing nutrient uptake.
Definitely be sure to frequently check out his website, Josh is always finding new & unique plants.
Help make more videos!!! 😁 ⬇️

Dude, love the video and what you're doing. If you want mangosteens in Florida, talk to Adam at Flying Fox Farm in Sanford. He's big on garcinias and plinias.
It’s heaven to be able to grow this ! I also love mangosteens but it take forever to grow n rambutan .. wish there a way of grafting to make more compact n bare lots of fruits
One of your best trees is the tree of life hopefully the winter won't kill it in 5 years you should get harvest
The mulberry leaves are huge on that skinner variety. Deciduous? Free mulch😎
Thank you for sharing your botanical natural food garden. Many of the crops you grow I do know them because I used to live in a topical island. And most of life while growing up surrounded by the jungles. Where food was everywhere especially the breadfruit trees and just many many plants like coconuts are always available. Sad thing tho, there are more different types of pest that migrated into the island and is killing the coconut palm called the Rhino Beetle. And many other types of insects that I’ve never seen before. Anyways, you have such a beautiful food garden.
Awesome video! I love mangoes from my home town in the Dominican Republic which I think they're pretty close to be some of the best ones I ever tasted - can't compare to any variety available here in the United States.😊
Great project with awesome variety. In my experience Maha Chanok produces more predictable and over a longer period than Nom Doc. They are my top 2 from the roughly 15 varieties I grow.
Wow! You are so knowledgeable and you remember all of your trees names too. Outstanding ! BTW, I just bought an IABU tree. Do I need 2 trees to cross pollinate in order to get fruits?
Good luck with your new farm. Can we come visit?
Used to live in Babson Park, is that Whrits point? Very cool. Thanks for sharing
Auto watering system/auto irrigation, rain collection, food forest. Dwarf food trees for small spaces ❤️
I live in Port St Lucie and I am growing asparagus in grow bags.
How’s that working for you?
@@floridafreeliving I had my first harvest this year. Asparagus takes 3 years before being able to harvest. Using shade cloth has been the key.
Believe it or not I once saw a fruiting mangosteen tree in Lake Alfred...but I do know some farms in South Florida pull it off, Miami Fruit, for example, Everglades Farms too, I'm pretty sure.
Hello! Thank you so much for your awesome videos. I was wondering if you ever sell cuttings or plants of the skinner mulberry? I live in AZ and I would love to see how it grows here
In the near future!
@@floridafreeliving Thank you!
There are so many things that I want to order from you! Any idea when items will be back in stock? How about the Mulberry? Will cuttings be available? I live in Lake County, FL and our climates/soil are likely fairly similar.
You have a new sub from Fort Lauderdale.
I want the ficus sycamores if that's the type that Zakius climbed. So cool.
I have been looking for those finley onions!
We’re happy to ship them!
codycovefarm.com
Costa Rican here! Almost lost my mind when you said Tacaco! Wish you a great harvest!
I was hoping for a harvest also. It’s suddenly died after growing in the canopy of many palms..
Governors plum is native in philippines.
I would like to come down there and get some plants
Coconut needs salt. A small bag of rock salt in the top of the tree. 😉
Put a little sea salt on the Coconut trees
Wow! Will you be holding lessons?
the Sh3640 and namwah bananas are they seedy? or are they like grocery store bananas
👍👍👍👍🖖
🤜🤛
How do you go about finding rare varieties of alternative food crops? I search the net tirelessly for rare varieties of taro, malanga, edible dahlias, etc. However I almost cannot hardly ever find any. I'm everywhere on forums and websites like permies etc asking for these things. I own a small edible exotics nursery in Northern Florida and want to provide super rare alternative crops as well. Look forward to hopefully talking with you.
I haven't seen any farm forests growing june plums in central FL. Any thoughts?
I’m in Lake Worth Florida where are you from Lake Worth? Would love to come see your property.
i would love to get one of those mulberries too brother thank you. how can i purchase one
Love your video. I bought a farm in Vero Beach and would love to start buying from you. What is your website?
Very cool, I’d love to come check out your farm sometime!
Here’s Josh’s website: codycovefarm.com
Ya,all would be a good company to grow and protect the TRUE Seminole Pumpkin. A getting rare Florida native.....
What’s going on with the SH3640? It’s got black rot all over it.
When will you start selling outside of Florida?
So how much for three of every plant you have please ? I wish!!! Im drooling.
are you propagating to sell Rukam yet?
I'm interested in the Florida finely onion. Where do you sale them? I didn't see any links in description.
I’ll be adding links fairly soon, I’ll be sure to update you when they are available.
@@floridafreeliving thank you

Need to but some tree where I can
I'm in Alturas just starting out. I'm close by. How do I get some of your plants ?
You can order online.
codycovefarm.com
Are you in central Florida? I'm in Orlando and I can't grow quarter of what you are growing.
Check the bio
Is that mulberry available?
I was told that banana trees only give one crop per tree. So do you remove the tree once the harvest is done and plant another one?
Not an expert but I think they will sprout a new shoot at the base of the plant. Most people will chop down the original banana cut it into small pieces and use it to feed the new sprouts. Placed around the new plant as one would do with mulch.
How big is this property?
would like to visit your nursery and get some starters....I'm in Inverness, FL
Check the bio for all the information you’ll need

Decades old mango tree … “what you can accomplish in 1 year” … hmm…
Hello!! New subscriber. I am in Brevard 9b/10a. I am growing UC-157 F1 and F2 asparagus for 4 years straight. I am very interested in checking out your website for the perennial kale and other things. I garden in a half acre. We harvested 466 lbs of food last year!
