JoAnn your piece with the Snow babies turn out cute and I love the snow you did .I really want to try it.thanks for sharing it with us. God bless you and I love you and your thrift hauls and Diys.
Oh Joanne this is one of the cutest DIYs I have seen you do yet!! I cannot believe how many fantastic crafts you do, and I love them all! The snow flowing over is a wonderful touch-love, love, love this project. I am so inspired by you! I found a clock today, and now I will be hunting down figurines to use for this project. And yes, I will be making one! Thank you you so much for this fun craft idea!! 😊
So glad you enjoyed this Heather. I am so excited that you found a clock and will be making a scene of your own creation in it. If you are on IG, please post it when you are finished, I would love to see it. Hugs, Joanne
Omg Joanne so cool love this. You can use this snow on your ceramic tree 🌲 on the tips of the tree. So many possibilities with this snow . You got my brain going thank you so much 😊
Sherrie, I was thinking the same thing about using it on that tree. So glad you enjoyed this and that is got your 'brain going'. Happy crafting. Hugs, Joanne
Hi Joann a very interesting project.A way to make snow, that’s fantastic.Sometimes on surfaces where there’s snow, you want to enhance or make it look cleaner. It makes it look vivid and real. A very good find you’ve discovered.A ice pond with glistening snow. 👍👍❤️❤️🌹☃️☃️☃️
Our forecaster says we will not have snow this Jan in southern VA, so for those who yearn for it, they can make up some of your snow and pretend! This is a great project. Thanks for sharing.
Hello, I am about to try this. I am doing a picture of Santa and I want to use this on his beard with a touch of white glitter on it. I plan to use it for snow in some of the pictures that I am doing. Thank you so much for sharing your technique with us.
That’s great! I am doing some little houses that my friend made for me. Now I can put snow on the roofs. I’m glad you gave the tip about putting the glitter on top and not mixing it it. Your snow babies craft is so sweet. Thanks Joanne
Laura, make sure to do a 'test' of your snow before putting on your actual piece, that way you can make sure you have it the way you want it before putting on your good piece. Best of luck with it and have fun! Hugs, Joanne
Thank you so much. I love you ideas♥️ Making dollar tree houses of my mom's favorite fabric I found this year. We lost her unexpectedly. I will show you a picture. Thank I made it with cornstarch bc no baking soda, white arctic paint and Modge Podge.
@@batthriftcrazy1959 Thank you for you kind words💕.have a happy and healthy holiday season & 2023. I send a pic of the ornament when done. Hugs from Michigan 🤗
What a super idea for snow. I never would have thought of that. I used to use "Spackle", a drywall hole filler. A tad stiff but you could make points out if it. like stucco. Another really cute vignette for your collection. Will chat later - still have packing to do. Going to Mexico on Friday, so getting out of this berg!! Take care and Hugs G/F!!!
That is right, I forgot about your Mexico trip. I bet you are so excited. I hope you have tons of fun. Be safe and what ever you do, don't drink the water or eat the fruit outside of your resort. I made that mistake years ago and honestly thought I was going to die!! Hugs, Joanne
Thanks for sharing this idea Joanne....love you little rink scene. I will definitely be using this idea when I start making my cards again. This is much better than trying to build up with just Mod Podge. Have a Blessed day.
Im so excited about this. Im wanting to build my own Christmas village and had been thinking of how i would do snow. Thank you for sharing. Live your little pond
That looks more like 1/2 tablespoon, but it doesn't really matter since it's equal parts. I have to fix a base for a Santa figurine (next year, it's packed away) so this will do it. Thank you so much, Joanne.
@@batthriftcrazy1959 Will do sweat friend!!! Love my YANKEY candle set up. It's on my Kitchen table burning right. It's got ceramic tile on top so BO WORRIES!!! THANKS AGAIN!!!

Great diy joanne...i have used the Fake snow that you purchase but it seems like it dries out before you can use it again the next time which is expensive and I have also tried using glue and epsons salt and that is kind of messy but I will definitely give the mod podge and baking soda a try it looks like it works great!
That is one of the amazing things about this mixture, just keep in sealed in a zip-loc bag and it will keep for our for a couple of days, although, as I mentioned, it will thicken up the longer that it sits. Funny, once the air hits it, as when you are working with it, it doesn't take long for it to start to harden. Have fun. Hugs, Joanne
I am so pleased that you made this video. Your creation will look adorable. Maybe you covered this but what are you using for the figurines to set on ? Looks like paper ?
The Snowbabies, the tree and the paper came from a piece I hauled a while back. It was Snowbabies skating on a pond and was supposed to move around but it was broken (I knew that when I bought it). I took it apart and used the Snowbabies, a tree and part of the pond as the surface for them the skate on. So glad you liked it. Hugs, Joanne
I love it Joann! It is precious! Where did you find your skaters? I will definately try it with my grandchildren. And you have the hands of a 30 yr old! I'm jealous! Lol
Hi Linda. I found the Snowbaby skaters in a décor piece where the skaters were supposed to move around when the piece was plugged in, but it didn't work. I knew this when I purchased it, but I thought I could use the figures and the trees for a project at some point. Have fun with your Grandkids doing this. And no matter how messy they get, the mixture cleans up with just water from the skin. My hands are compliments of my Mom, she had beautiful hands - thank you so much!! Hugs, Joanne
All I did additional to what I showed at the end of the video was to add just a bit more 'snow' to the areas that had gaps and I sprinkled a bit more glitter on it, otherwise, it is the same. Hugs, Joanne
I just tried this method on my dollhouse roof, but this morning i see rust color coming through the Soda and Mod Pogue mix I made it thick on the roof too. i wonder if the baking soda reacted to the wooden roof wood ? It is just a plain wood without shingles or primed. but also I see rust color coming onto my painted white decoration gingerbread too .
I am sorry this happened to you. I has been a long time since I did this technique and I believe I did it on a white surface. I know I have not done it on a dark surface. It sounds like it may not work well on a dark surface, and it would need to be painted white first before applying the 'snow'. I hope you are able to fix your project.
This was such a while back that I can't remember, but I would use the finest glitter that you can find. That would give it a more subtle and light effect. So glad that you enjoyed this project. Thanks. Hugs.
I can say that the snow that I made for that video is still intake and has not changed color. I have no idea if it will last inside of an acrylic 4" cube however. If you try it, good luck and have fun. Hugs.
I have only done this one time. The piece that I did it on is still intact, so I know that it lasts for quite some time as I did this a few years ago. Hugs.
I wish I could tell you. Mine came out solid. Maybe play around, in small amounts, with the amount of each ingredient. It has been such a long time since I have done this. Good luck with it. Hugs.
