AWESOME !!!! Lovely scene. Brought back some happy childhood memories of Sunday walks with the family. I must try one some time. Thanks for the vid, Cheers, Rick the Bulldog.
I’ve tried loads of snows but including making my own. There’s a playlist of them on the channel. I find microballoons the best of all the powders though.
Hi Kathy, another beautiful diorama, thank you so much for sharing, you are an inspiration, have a lovely Christmas and a wonderful New Year, stay safe, all the best from Scotland, Stephen. xxx
😮wow! Another beautiful masterpiece! Your work is always amazing! I have to get some of those foam rocks for one of my projects! Thanks so much for sharing!😁
Merry Christmas for Americas Heartland. Ms. Kathy love your work. It always looks so realistic. One day I hope to build dioramas just as nice. Looking forward to your next build. Keep on building those dioramas. In closing your work is A-1. Over and Out.
Hi Kathy, I like your diorama, I have my own now provided by mother nature, my railway is '00 gauge' in my garden, under about 2" of snow at the moment. Still working on some form of weather protection for the track which doesn't need taking off before each operating session. I do have plans for a tunnel through a mountain range at the 10 foot diameter return loop as there is a very large Oak tree which covers most of this area and does like to give me rather a lot of leaves and acorns as the seasons change. With regard to the construction of the mountain I am planning to use some expanded polystyrene foam insulation panels covered with plaster cloth and then painted with Cuprinol Garden Shades paint to provide some weather protection, your opinion would be appreciated as scenery is not one of my strong points.
I’m afraid I’ve not done outdoor scenery but I would use outdoor materials and I’m not sure plaster cloth would be strong enough long term. An outdoor plaster layer may be better.
@@KathyMillatt Thanks for the info Kathy, I'll still use the plaster cloth but only as an initial cover for the styrene foam, the finished item will have a good covering of Cuprinal Garden Shades outside paints as they have a good variety of colours which should blend in, "at a distance". Happy New Year to you and stay safe.
OMG!!!! You nailed it!!!! Outstanding...... I just may put some hot chocolate on the stove.... lol Great job for the Holidays!! Thank you and wishing you a Merry Merry Christmas and a Healthy Happy New Year. And thanks for all your inspiration over the months!!!!!! God Bless.
Hi Kathy, another brilliant video there's lots of great ideas there . I think if my grandson watches it he will start having silly ideas as if he doesn't already 😂. Think I may have a go at a snow scene one day though. Great job done again James
This is a very realistic diorama and it looks like winter scenes around my home when we do get snow. I really enjoyed and learned from this tutorial. Thank you for making and sharing this and have a Merry Christmas.
I’ve never done lift out sections I’m afraid. It may depend on what your baseboard is. For Port Dinorwic I used magnets for the fiddle yards and ran the power through those.
beautiful and excellent explanation. I do have one question that can't be seen in the final. With the two layers of grey tint resin then two thin layers added for texture of waves..can you even see the rocky bottom any longer?
Here's a question for you Kathy - since I know you've tested just about every snow product out there. What would you recommend for 1/35 scale snow deposits, for when small amounts of snow have accumulated on vehicles and become frozen on..? I'm thinking specifically of slightly sparkly icy snow compacted into tank tracks or small remnants on fenders / in corners...
Kathy I used a resin and coloured it with acrylic paint. And it made it curdle. Well what I mean is the paint didn’t mix properly. What did I do wrong?
WOW... the whole thing looks amazing 😃 I absolutely love how you did the icy edges on the river, it looks fantastic!
Thanks Luke.
AWESOME !!!! Lovely scene. Brought back some happy childhood memories of Sunday walks with the family. I must try one some time. Thanks for the vid, Cheers, Rick the Bulldog.
Whoever disliked this doesn't appreciate Kathy's hard work! I love this!
love watching these to fall asleep, fav new channel!
This is good enough to make me look forward to Winter!
Thanks!
that backdrop sells the whole scene.very nice work.
that is just stunning. I love the details and everything. I wish I could shrink and take a walk in that scenery.
I can almost feel the cold from here! Superb diorama, as always.
Another beautiful work of art. Thanks for sharing.
Fascinating and your attention to detail (like the footprints in the snow) was amazing. Thank you for sharing you beautiful work.
Thank you very much!
Iowa gets plenty of snow, and I wish it was as magical as you made it appear in this diorama. It's awesome, thank you for sharing!
Stunning - and beautifully designed and built, as ever. Whatever happened to winters like those . . .?! Stay safe.
Wonderful scene!! Very nice winter water modeling as well! The gray water really adds a sense of deep winter to the scene!
Great choice of background photo Kathy, so simple but it brings the whole together beautifully.
Very nice work. So beautiful. So detailed.
just magnificent Kathy. Well done. Loved it. All the best
Thank you.

I will begin a new modulary layout and I choose winter season, your video helps me 🤩 thank you 👍
I’ve done a whole series on snow and ice too if that helps. Sounds like a fun layout you are building.
amazing stuff, checking out snow effects for an upcoming Hoth Dio!
Can’t wait to see that.
Another GREAT build! Love your work ❤. This is very beautiful!
Brilliant. I'm learning so many techniques I've got to try for myself in the new year and start making my paintings into 3D
Noch makes some awesome stuff! I need those trees!
Nice, very very nice. Good job Kathy. Merry Christmas
Superb as always
This was great. I am thinking of making a winter diorama. This video will make a great tutorial for what I want to do
this is so beautiful. Have you ever tried making your own snow from common materials? That would be an interesting project.
I’ve tried loads of snows but including making my own. There’s a playlist of them on the channel. I find microballoons the best of all the powders though.
@@KathyMillatt thanks :-)

Du hast die Magie des Winters in deinem Diorama echt schön wieder gegeben 😀👍
Oh! So tempting to put a tiny snow person on the edge of the bridge. Maybe a snow angle?
Love it
Oh that's so lovely.

Always enjoy watching your work. Merry Christmas Kathy! 🎄
Excellent work. What is Polver Schnee?
It’s a Noch snow product.
what a beautiful scene! I've seen you use that sieve tool often - what is it called?
Hi. It’s a sieve! This one is from precision ice and snow.
Exceptional. Great job, looks ultra realistic. Keep up the good work. Merry Christmas Kathy.

Kathy, I need to add a lift-out section to my Kato N scale layout, can you provide any advice, especially regarding the connection?
I’ve never done lift out sections I’m afraid. It may depend on what your baseboard is. For Port Dinorwic I used magnets for the fiddle yards and ran the power through those.
Hi Kathy, Nice one. easy or what (not) Looks fantastic as always. Happy Christmas. Stay Safe. All the Best Brian 🤗🎅
beautiful and excellent explanation. I do have one question that can't be seen in the final. With the two layers of grey tint resin then two thin layers added for texture of waves..can you even see the rocky bottom any longer?
Not really! You can never be sure when you start do I always like to add rocks etc just in case.
Amazing ❤️ hope you have a lovely Xmas xxx
What is the product you mentioned at 7:56?
It's Snow Powder/Pulverschnee Ref. 08750 . All the products are listed on my website - link in description.
Great Stuff! Thank you.
merry Christmas from italy
Hi Kathy, what foam do you use as the base and where can I get it?
It’s black craft foam from Amazon.
@@KathyMillatt Thanks!

Precision snow and ice do a snow wash that’s great for that fine layer of snow built up on ridges etc. It’s not glittery but it is effective.
Hi merry Christmas to you, what do you do with all your diaramas when you finish them.
I just bought some new shelves so I can display them. They were in cardboard boxes.
@@KathyMillatt flat pack lol. Love to see them all any chance of showing them off one day.
One day!
Kathy I used a resin and coloured it with acrylic paint. And it made it curdle. Well what I mean is the paint didn’t mix properly. What did I do wrong?
Some resins react badly to the water in acrylic paints. Either try a different resin or use solvent based or resin specific paints.
Sadly, it’s quite a common problem.
@@KathyMillatt ok thank you. I had a few disasters earlier this year. But never give up hope. Lovely diorama btw 🙂.
Let’s hope it works next time!
Please can someone tell me we’re I can get a spray bottle that sprays a mist I have three and none do that well?
It’s hard. Garden centres and hair dresser supplies maybe? I just try Amazon and read the reviews.
Only thing that I can think of as an improvement would be icicles along the underside of the bridge
I thought about those but none of the photos I had showed them so I decided to leave them for another diorama.
Perfect. Tov meod!!!
Hi what 3d printer do you use?
I have three. Peopoly Phenom for big resin, Elegoo Mars for small resin and I just got a Prussian for filament as my old one broke.
