It's not just you. I'm replaying MHW and when you reach the Tigrex and Brachy quests, there is a noticeable spike up in difficulty. At this point, it's time to reoptimize your load outs and farm them armor spheres.

Molten Tigrex shares many of the same adaptations as Tigrex, but there are a few differences between the two." "Molten Tigrex was theorized to exist for a long time due to the discovery of claw marks and prints far larger than those of an ordinary Tigrex being discovered within the Fonron region (フォンロン), which is the place where the Tower and Great Forest can be found." "While an average Tigrex (4th Gen) is about 1735.4cm long, the average Molten Tigrex is about 2313.9cm long. Compared to both Tigrex and Brute Tigrex, Molten Tigrex is a giant among the Tigrex species." "In ancient times, the Tigrex during that era were bigger than the ones we see today. As the climate changed, the Tigrex species evolved and grew smaller to adapt to the changes in their environment. However, this wasn't the case for Molten Tigrex." "While most of them became smaller, Molten Tigrex became large due to the oxygen-rich environment surrounding the Tower. The Great Forest is quite primitive and has similar conditions to the environments found in ancient times that allowed its ancestors to grow so big." "The giant gene that Tigrex's ancestors had remained dormant with most other species of Tigrex but the Great Forest's environment has reawakened that forgotten gene within Molten Tigrex, at least in theory, allowing it to grow so large." "Rather than an evolutionary process causing Molten Tigrex to grow to such a size, gene mutation through its environment caused it to become a giant like its ancestors. Despite that being the case, Molten Tigrex could be seen as one of the last traces of a forgotten age." "Due to its larger size, Molten Tigrex has more physical strength compared to its cousins, but it's noticeably more sluggish. While slower than its brethren, Molten Tigrex has a high metabolism, large lungs, and a powerful blastheart due to the oxygen-rich environment it inhabits." "Like the red shell that adorns its body, Molten Tigrex's body temperature is quite high due to its intense metabolism. Its high metabolism causes old skin to constantly fall off its body as it moves, and, much like Teostra's powder, this old skin is explosive in nature." "Molten Tigrex takes full advantage of the explosive nature of its skin and uses its flint-like, metallic claws to ignite them as it attacks. The impurities from the explosions adhere to its body, thus allowing it to produce more small explosions with its claws." "Molten Tigrex's claws have a burnt scent to them, and marks from repeated blasts tell a disturbing history. Within its jaws are powerful teeth used for crushing and ripping apart prey." "Like Brute Tigrex, Molten Tigrex can unleash some incredibly loud roars that can severely damage nearby prey. Molten Tigrex's abnormally large lungs allow it to roar continuously multiple times. Even if it misses, it can repeatedly roar to catch prey off guard." "While slower than its brethren, Molten Tigrex's speed increases when it becomes enraged. Not only does it become faster, but its body becomes hotter as well, causing more dead skin to fly off it as it attacks." "If Molten Tigrex takes more damage while enraged, it'll enter a second state of rage. In this second state of rage, Molten Tigrex's physical strength and body heat greatly increase, causing bloody veins from its muscles to appear throughout its body." "Molten Tigrex pushes its body to its limits while in this state and uses the full strength of its blastheart, which menacingly expands and contracts as it pulses with violence, to maintain said state." "Normally sluggish in nature, Molten Tigrex becomes faster than its cousins once it enters that state of rage. In exchange for more power and ferocity, its body becomes weaker to attacks due to its expanded muscles being somewhat exposed through its shell while in that state." "If that wasn't enough, that state of rage also puts a massive strain on its body and causes Molten Tigrex to tire more easily compared to its brethren." " Sources 1. Monster Hunter 4 2. Honestly, it isn't that bad. However, the mixing in Rise's soundtrack is terrible, likely as a result of the pandemic not allowing the use of an entire orchestra in the same recording session. The brass was recorded in the United States for Rise, while the rest of the instruments were recorded in Japan. Plus, Rise's arrangements are a lot closer to the original theme than World's arrangements. A combination of these factors has led many people to prefer World's music over Rise's, but I personally believe that Rise's soundtrack is being held back by the limitations of how it was produced.
@@lucscarabaeus Pretty sure they meant in terms of the sheer power Tigrex has. Always charging in head first and using its strength to take down its prey.
I honestly gave up "fighting" Tigrex the first time in MHFU, and just made myself a Thunderspear to shield spam and turtle with flash bombs (then Sparkplug later on the ranks after learning the fight). One of the reasons why I'm a Lance/Gunlance main now. Rage mode taking over half your health in one swoop is insanity though. Same thing with Nargacuga, enraged+tail smash is basically a guaranteed one shot. The hitboxes for both did not help. Being a gunlance or lance main in MHFU is the best thing to counter awful hitboxes, and pivot hopping is surprisingly effective.
