And no smartphones. People actually looked happier back then. Living for the moment
Now every McDonalds is just mass chaos, with people queuing for an eternity and gangs of delivery drivers everywhere.
Society is chaos these days, its filled with selfish arrogant super important people who have no time or respect for anyone else, yet happy to show off their lives on social media to anyone who they think is interested. Usually drive a BMW or a Ford Ranger. Says it all.
and sooo many staff who literally dont even need to be there because they dont seem to do anything
Not to mention the antisocial behaviour by mainly teenagers that it attracts sometimes. Some restaurants have even had to resort to hiring security guards because of this.
The straw dispenser for me… the second I saw it, I gasped. What nostalgia…
The lady who was smoking, I remember those foil ashtrays with the mcdonalds logo on.
Everything looks so much more pleasant than today, the uniforms, the front counter, even the McDonald’s sign on the front of the building.
It’s hard to compare the 1990s to the current early 2020s such a big time in between one another but I agree McDonald’s was better in that decade

You know what? Would love to see the old decor return. I know times change and each decade has a distinct look/colour palette (think browns/beiges in the 70s, electric pink/blues in the 80s, vibrant colours in the 90s) but would love a return to how things used to look.

Given that food products (e.g. Kelloggs) and brands have gone back to plain 1950s designs, it could happen.
Seeing McDonald's with the classic look makes me want to cry I'm from 1992 but have many of the memories amazing days with my happy meals in the red and yellow building

The Big Mac is minuscule now though.

Smoking in McDonald's those were the days, I think my McDonald's was one of the last in England to allow smoking like in the early 2000's I remember smoking in there as a teenager and it was legal to buy smokes at 16! Crazy how much has changed from those times

Different times! I was starting High School in the late 1980s in the DC area and I remember when we could smoke in our McDonald's too back then until 1992
Back when it took 3 minutes to get your food. Now it's waiting around for about 10-20 mins.

I grew up in the 90s and I can assure you whilst we rarely addressed racism, sexism, homophobia, and all the other countless ways people were downtrodden invisibly, it happened all the time.

Back when mcdonald's was good. I hate the smoking ban I would do enything to go back to the 90s. Good Times it's sad that things have gotten worse now. If only we could go back to when things were like this. Smiple and happy.

First McDonalds in the UK is in Woolwich, South London. It used to be my local Mc Donalds, extremely unexceptional and you wouldn't know if it wasn't for a very small plaque on the stairs. It's still open. Woolwich is a terrible place and i hated living there.

Were Big Mac's really bigger in those days? It looked small even back then. If anything, the size of the bun has shrunk to closer match the size of the tiny, wafer thin burger patty.

Yep…this is just how I remember my local McDonald’s somewhere in Southeast England from back then. The two girls you see at the end of the clip are really gorgeous by the way.

Who remembers around 1986, I think it was in support of the new Karate Kid movie (II), "Chicken Mcnuggets Shanghai"....they came with oriental sauces, chopsticks and a fortune cookie. The box had some Asian writing on it. I know, I know, I'm cancelled for using the words Asian and oriental....what was I supposed to say? German and Haitian?
