If you have the Kawasaki FS engine watch this video - • Canister Air Filter Up...
In this video I show you how to install our canister style air filter kit on your Kawasaki FR engine. Installing this heavy duty air filter kit on your Kawasaki FR engine will greatly improve the amount of run time that you get out of your air filters and better protect your engine from getting "dusted". This kit should fit on any brand of equipment as long as you don't have any space restrictions above your engine. We have not had any running issues that required rejetting on any of our test machines. Disclaimer - we are not liable for any issues caused to your engine, your engine warranty, or your engine meeting emissions standards by installing this upgrade to your machine. You are installing this upgrade at your own risk. Thanks for watching!

I installed this kit today, 03-31-2024, on my Gravely ZT HD 60. It has the Kawasaki FR730V engine. This was a very easy installation. I also cut a hole in the OEM filter cover, using a drill and a 2 3/8” hole saw, and put it back on. A perfect fit!! When installing the mounting bracket plate with the 2 philips head screws, I used red loctite on the threads to help keep them from vibrating loose.
This is a very easy project to do and I highly recommend this upgrade if you want your engine to last.
Thank you for your business!
Well Designed Upgrade..!
I thought the Kawasaki FR Air Filter Upgrade Kit was well-designed so the end-user could easily upgrade the air filtration on their Kawasaki FR-Engine...and hopefully gain improved air flow and filtration. Being in rural Texas, I often experience very dusty conditions while mowing - and all of the finite crud quickly packs the tiny OEM air filter during each use. I wonder what effect the virtual reduction of air flow has really had on my engine over time...I recently blew both FR-730V head gaskets!
Based on the posted comments of a previous Buyer - I used my Dremel tool to carefully cut away the front of the OEM air filter hatch - and mounted the black plastic hatch along with the steel upgrade bracket. In after-thought, I perhaps might have taken considerably more time and also traced the outline of the upgrade hose in front of the plastic hatch and just cut away the center leaving both front sides intact to help keep out debris. Sorry, but I really like the way the OEM Kawasaki engine label looks...!
I also have quite a few dips and bumps in my grass field(s) and noticed the constant impacts could easily loosen up the upgrade air intake cap so that it could likely drop off in the field while mowing - so I definitely suggest you TIGHTLY attach the hose clamp to secure the cap.
Just got my kit and installed it last night. Will give it a go tomorrow
Awesome! Thanks for your business
Just installed the air filter kit on my new Ariens Apex 60 Kawasaki FR 730. Fit perfectly. Even installed the air filter gauge. Thanks guys!
We appreciate your business!
Bought 2, great customer service for my questions, and a must buy for FR and FS engine upgrade and efficiency.
Thanks for your business!
I would like to have that kind of set up for my 25 horse Briggs.
Ordered Mine and installed today......Just doubled or tripled the life of My Engine.......;).............
Awesome! Thank you for your business!
What exactly keeps this kit from working on the FR600V engine? Is it simply just the smaller carb inlet? Or is it too restrictive?
I just received mine and to be honest, I’m not happy with having to remove my roll bar. I might have to send it back.
Just installed this on my RZT61X with the FR730V. Extremely easy install... however, I drilled a 3inch hole on the factory filter housing and mounted it with the new canister bracket. Looks even better than your suggested install as it still shows the brand of engine and class. Thanks for a great product. Will be buying another for my other ZT. Is there a way to send pics to show exact location of hole and clearance around the hose to carb?
Thank you for your business! Feel free to email pictures to - sales@powerequipmentman.com
If you can add a photo of that Mod - I (we) would like to see it...!
If there is a way you could post your modification it would be appreciated
@@jesusfreakster101 I had sent pics to Powerman right after I completed the modification. I couldn't find a way to add pics here. Sorry
My 2015 FR691V does not have the two Phillips head screws. The airbox lid just comes off with two twist locks and then fully removes from the tractor. Can I still use this kit for my engine? Thanks!
If you have the twist locks you most likely have the FS series not the FR. We are currently working on a kit to fit the FS engines and hope to have them ready to sell in the next couple months.
I think they need them for kohler and bs engine also
How much space is needed because I have one of the new cub cadet Ultima zero turns with the fr691v and not sure I could use this because of the upper bar might be in the way..
We have not done any test fitting on the cub cadets. It does look like there is going to be a clearance issue on some models. If you shoot us an email, we can send you some pictures with measurements so you can try to determine if you think it will work for you - sales@powerequipmentman.com
Do you not have to change jets to accomodate higher air flow?
No, you do not have to change jets.
Do you sell the mounting bracket and the hose separately? Thanks
No. We only sell these as complete kits.
Would this kit work for the Kawasaki FT730V? Thanks
No, we do not currently have a kit to fit the FT engines.
What does this actually do besides a better air filter? Do you get a performance increase?
We do not make any claims that this kit will improve the engine's performance. The primary purpose of this upgraded air filter kit is to extend service intervals between filter cleaning/replacement. This kit will help keep your air filter cleaner longer, and reduce the chances of your engine getting "dusted" from pulling dirt threw the smaller OEM filter. Getting cleaner, cooler air will help extend the life of your engine.
Does this work for the FR600 engine by chance or do they make one for it?
No, we do not currently have a kit that will fit the FR600. This is something we plan to work on as time allows.
$220!! Holy hell, you sure are proud of it.
I understand it's $220 but think about the price to replace a engine which would cost way more I just bought the kit for my hustler raptor x kawasaki fr651v I live in the country where there is alot of dust I wanted my engine protected better because the factory air filter system gets dirty pretty quickly.
Are you guys coming out with a kit for Kohler 7000 engines?
We currently do not have any plans to make a kit for the Kohler engines.
Will the carburetor have to be adjusted after installing?
No you do not have to make any adjustments to the carburetor.
@@PowerEquipmentMan thanks. Just ordered one
How often does the canister filter need to be cleaned typically?
Well...that's a tough question to answer as it depends a lot on your conditions. But for example, we have a customer that used to replace his OEM filter 3 times per year, and now he can go 2 years between replacing the canister filter. So that would be a 6 to 1 ratio. Hope that helps!
Does it help with speed
I assume you are asking about making your lawn mower faster? No, this will have no effect on how fast your lawn mower drives.
These kits sell for over $200.00! That's alot of oem filters!
An $80 price tag would make me stop and consider it. $220 is a solid pass.
So says you.
After having to clean and rebuild a carb due to dust getting through the OEM filters, TWICE, the $200 was well worth it!
What are the perks?
This air filter canister kit is designed to be used in very dirty applications. These engines have issues with the OEM filter plugging with dirt too quickly when used in very dirty conditions. These canister filters stay cleaner longer. Getting cleaner, cooler air to the engine is going to help your engine last longer and extend service intervals between cleaning/replacement of the air filter.
Does this void kawasaki warranty
Yes
@@redviizsla8365When I buy my filter upgrade, I'm ordering a replacement OEM airbox (I'm drilling out for the carb hose to pass through the stock airbox, instead of leaving it off) If I need to have warranty work done, I'll switch 'em out first.
How long take to the shipping order
We currently have these air filter kits in stock and ship within one business day.
@@PowerEquipmentMan Ok I just put and order last night
@@Mando2593 I ordered it on a Wednesday and received it on Friday. Shipping was very fast.
Good video... but what's the benefit of doing this???
The OEM air filter on the FR series engines is a poor design that gets packed with dirt and grass too fast when getting used in extremely dirty conditions. Using this canister air filter upgrade keeps the air filter cleaner longer. You will get much longer run times between air filter changes. Getting cleaner cooler air to your engine will help extend your engine life. We have some customers that couldn't go 10 hours without having to replace the oem air filter, after going to this canister they could run all season without replacing the filter. The money they saved in replacement air filters paid for the kit.
What Jonas said. Plus, this housing and cylindrical filters are more efficient, and feature an extra safety filter. The 2nd ( inner) safety filter prevents problems like getting a hole in your flimsy OEM paper filter. Improving air filtration is one way to increase the life expectancy of the FR/FS series engines. The housing has a mounting hole for a filter minder ( highly recommended) to eliminate the guesswork from filter changes.
Does this really make a difference? It just seems like it raises the location of the filter a few inches up, you're not actually "improving" the filtration..
If it didn't work, we wouldn't sell them.
Probably makes no difference honestly... In fact these engines are tested and tuned extensively with the air filter setup they come with... Messing with the tubing and filter elements effects engine performance but maybe not in a good way.
@@TriggerTravels So you have done some testing with this exact setup? I assume that you have dyno runs, O2 graphs, engine teardown analysis, and thousands of combined hours of real world testing? Feel free to email us your data to sales@powerequipmentman.com
@@PowerEquipmentMan Feel free to post yours... You're the one selling it. I used to work for caterpillar global engine development north America... I know a bit about engine development and testing 😬
@@TriggerTravels Just to clarify, you have never actually done any testing with our air filter upgrade kit on a Kawasaki FR or FS series engine? So you are purely guessing and have no actual data to backup your previous statement? Please do not provide false information without data to support it to our potential customers.

For what?
Why screw up your mower, yeah looks cool ... but if you can’t warrant the product? Just buy a K and N air filter $40, and wash it. Boom!
Our air filter upgrade kits have nothing to do with "looking cool". These kits are designed to be used in extremely dirty mowing conditions where the OEM filter is getting packed with dirt in just a few hours of run time. To this date we have not heard of any of our customers having issues with warranty coverage after installing this kit. We actually have dealers that buy these kits by the pallet and install them on almost every brand new machine they sell.
I strongly encourage you to do some research before installing a K&N style air filter on any mower. K&N filters increase engine performance by allowing more air to flow through the filter element. It accomplishes this by having larger holes in the fabric of the filter, which also allows more dirt particles to pass through the filter. K&N filters are NOT designed to be used in extremely dirty conditions with very fine dirt particles - like mowing! K&N filters are great in racing applications where extended engine life is not a concern as race engines get rebuilt often, or street driving where extreme dirt is not an issue. I'm not sure about you, but I have no desire to rebuild my lawn mower engine after every 20 or 30 hours of use.
Thanks for watching!
I know that when you go to install a Donaldson canister air filter as such you generally have to her up the carburator to the difference in air flow on the commercial industrial Kawasaki's do you have to up jet the carb on the fr series Kawasaki's as from the stock air cleaner to the canister is the airflow the same or is there a difference and if so do you have a factory up jet kit for the fr series and if so does it come included in the canister upgrade kit thanks
No, you do not need to rejet the carb to run this air cleaner kit.
$219 though! Come on.
I know, it's a crazy good deal! $219 for an air filter vs $2500 for a new engine. You can thank me later!
@@PowerEquipmentMan uh, no.
