It does not surprise me that AIPAC is the strongest ethnic lobby in America. If Jews didn't look out for their own, there would be few, if any, Jews left in the world. I don't know how Forbes does its ratings, or where oil companies are on the list, but some special interests (like those who depend on oil consumption for their profits) are so big, they are literally integral to our economy, so less lobbying is needed to make their case to Congress.
My friend, the masses are asses wherever you go. Indeed, you are a case in point. That, of course, is irrelevant, because it is not the masses that make foreign policy in the USA, Israel, or anywhere else.
It's always simultaneously hilarious and disturbing to observe the cases in which the fight for national independence has elicited outrage in Washington and (by proxy) the press. One of the things that came out of the 1979 Iranian revolution was the discovery of a CIA produced tape giving instruction on how to torture women. Yet the popular perception was (and is) of the threat of unprovoked Iranian violence. People were wearing 'Nuke Iran' T-shirts in the streets after the hostages were taken.
i dont know a lot about Carters time in office so thank you for posting

now we know why they light their oilfields on fire when they are invaded by the gangsters of this nation!
Even carter was not the saint he is made out to be, still my favorite living president or since 1975
You're in bad shape if you think Carter was anything other than an incompetent fool.
