Yeah Ben's on a real streak this year. He's only lost one J vs. B this year so far where J's lost four. I don't think this has ever happened before in the history of these competitive quizzes.
Here's a timeline of some of Andy's toys based on a little searching I just did: 1930s - metal green army men 1938 - plastic green army men 1949 - Mr Potato Head pieces to stick into real potatoes 1952 - Slinky Dog 1959 - Etch A Sketch invented 1960 - Etch A Sketch released 1961 - Barrel of Monkeys said to be invented 1964 - Mr Potato Head with plastic potato 1965 - Barrel of Monkeys released
From what I read, the green plastic mass-produced type that Andy plays with didn't come around until the 50s or 60s because they were originally made with lead paint. BUT technically Slinky Dog would be the correct answer here IF we only count the Plastic Mr. Potato Head that Andy uses.
@@finalcountdown3210 , what you are talking about are the WWII versions. The metal ones in the 30s were made of lead, but they started producing the cheaper plastic ones in 1938.
@@medichampion328 , that's virtually impossible to nail down given that Wheezy is so generic. Rubber squeaky toys, in general, were first made around 1860, but didn't become common in molded shapes until the 1940s. I have no clue when a penguin version would have first been made.
Forgot about that. I mean, I remember the prospector saying that they're being sold to a toy museum in Tokyo (which Jessie promptly responds with that line), but I don't recall him calling the museum by name in that scene.
This is going to be fun! I actually discovered your channel through a Collab you guys did years ago. Not the one at the very start of the pandemic, but the one where he visited before that.
The fact that French names are considered the “most Canadian name ever” by Americans is a bit sad. Also, Carlos is Spanish. If J had been right, it would have been Jean-Charles.
Doesn’t Andy own the green army men and those came out in the 30s so those technically would be the oldest. They’re roughly 20 years older. But I guess if it’s going off of the main then makes sense, because the army men only make a couple appearances I believe. But eitherway amazing episode 😊 and congrats Ben. 🎉
I guess at that point it comes down to one of two things: 1) Is the question set up to be "which of the following toys came out first in the real world?" or "which of Andy's toys came out first in the real world?"? 2) What exact year did the green army men and Mr. Potato Head come out in the real world (aka which one was first)? I don't know the answer to either of these and I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm too lazy to google it xD
Yeah, I just looked it up. Mr Potato Head was invented in 1949 (the plastic version didn't start until 1964). The plastic green army men were made in 1938 (prior to that, they were metal). So even the modern version of those green army men predate the early version of Mr Potato Head. The answer to the question was definitely wrong. Also, Slinky Dog came out in 1952, so it also predates plastic Mr Potato Head, but that's just a technicality.
It is awesome to see Séamus again! He's the king of Toy Story. It immediately made me think of the Monsters Inc. all over again when I saw this in my suggested. I got 10/15 questions right. I got some you guys missed and missed some you got but those times you did multiple choice were helpful for me to keep my little lead for half the quiz over you guys. Toy Story is one of my favorite movies (the first one), I could quote just about the whole movie since I was a kid and now my kids watch the movies as well.
Full list of blooper reel stuff Mrs Potato head packed, because I just watched the reel again for kicks, include: an extra pair of shoes, angry eyes, if you get hungry, here are some cheese puffs, and a key. I don't know what it's for, but you never know. And a golfball, if you have time for golf, and a plastic steak, and a rubber ducky, and a yoyo! And an extra bouncy bouncy ball, and some extra teeth, be careful they chatter, and crayons, in case you get bored, and some blue playdough. And a dime, call me, and monkey chow. "Monkey chow, for what?" "Well for the monkeys of course!" And I totally agree, TY2 is the best.
I loved meeting you all back during the Toy Story 4 screening in DC when the theater had technical difficulties! 😅 Seamus, Ben, and J are all amazing!!
I don't think this particular Mr. Potato Head belonged to Andy's dad, because the version Andy has is the iteration that came out in the 90s. Potato Head gets a remodel probably every decade.
Congrats on the win, Ben! That last question had me thinking Potato Head instinctively because even though Andy's Potato Heads are plastic, they existed long before as pieces of plastic to put in actual spuds.
Toy Story is my younger brother’s and now my kiddos favorite movies. The only question I didn’t get right was the pizza planet truck. And Seamus is right the aliens weren’t in the RV. I just watched 4 the other day😂

Seamus absolutely got the "what 2 things did Mrs Potato head pack for Mr Potato head" question right. He had the words, whereas Ben had frickin *scary eyes*. I swear Seamus got that one right.
Like they told Seamus beforehand, you can't just make a big list and get the question counted just because the two correct answers were somewhere on the list. He chose his two answers and was wrong.

If you limited the oldest toy question to their release in either wood, cloth, metal, or plastic, would it change it from Mr. Potato head to Barrel of Monkeys?
Not really. I looked up some origin dates for the toys because of someone else's comment. The correct answer should have been the plastic green army men. Their plastic versions came out in 1938 (they existed before that, made of metal). So they are the oldest of Andy's talking toys (unless there's another option I'm missing). Mr Potato Head's potato version from 1949 wasn't followed by the plastic version until 1964, but Barrel of Monkeys didn't come out until 1965. It's said Barrel of Monkeys was invented in 1961, so that's a tough one to decide between. However, it turns out you don't have to decide between them, because Slinky Dog is from 1952, so it knocks Barrel of Monkeys out entirely.
I believe the last question was incorrect. The Army Men were created in 1938, whereas Mr. Potato head was created in 1949 making the Army Men, Andy’s oldest toy.
I re-watched Tangled the other day. I noticed that Rapunzel and Jacob Kowalski both use a skillet 🍳 as a weapon against "bad guys." He uses it against the fake bad guys in the beginning of Secrets Of Dumbledore. She keeps her's the whole movie.
Okay, the last question is a tough one because of one character specifically: Ham. It's hard to really say if he counts as a toy or not, but since Andy treats him like one, I'd say Ham is. With that in mind, coin banks that are shaped like pigs (piggy banks) have apparently been around since the 12th century. So technically the oldest (debateble) toy in real life that Andy has is Ham (aka Evil Dr. Porkchop)
My theory is that Monsters ink is a movie inside of the Pixar universe like Lightyear is. My example is the missing A113 and the most obvious reference in the entire Pixar universe, The Jessie and Luxo ball. Maybe both of those objects are product placement since there so obvious.

I swear to god, I got an ad half way through that said "papa johns pizza puts parmasean cheese where it's never been before.... on the bottom". I feel like I'm loving in a simulation, that was a weird coincidence, lol.

The only reason Seamus didn't win is because the questions got into American culture/brands specific. I suppose that does go along with Toy Story set in the US but it still felt a little unfair idk 😝
Heyheyheeey! The last guestion is wrong! The oldest toy Andy has is the set of army men! Wikipedia: Mr. Potato Head was invented and manufactured by George Lerner in 1949, but was first distributed by Hasbro in 1952. Armymen: The first American plastic toy soldiers were made by Bergen Toy & Novelty Co. (Beton for short) in 1938. I was so sure about my answer and was bamboozeld that it didn't even make into the multiple choice? But to be fair, maybe those GREEN army men figurines weren't made back then yet, i think they were made of tin or something back then...
Why were the sheep named after "Three Billy Goats Gruff"? 10:35 Come on Ben, it's such an iconic scene. 11:31 Niche?😕 11:42 Funny that the Carlin brothers together replicated the scene when they revealed their answers (J did the tone, and Ben did the groan).
@ericahamel4404 nah. She's specifically says Angry eyes. And he even says it later. They never even mention any other kind. I can let Seamus slide on the cheetos cuz they're not common in the UK and it's never specifically stated that they're cheese puffs. But they “couldn’t relate” to Turning Red because it was set in Canada...
11:31 Niche?😕
11:42 Funny that the Carlin brothers together replicated the scene when they revealed their answers (J did the tone, and Ben did the groan).
Angry eyes is too iconic to miss, no point for Ben!
I feel like eyes and shoes is what mattered sooo
@ericahamel4404 nah. She's specifically says Angry eyes. And he even says it later. They never even mention any other kind. I can let Seamus slide on the cheetos cuz they're not common in the UK and it's never specifically stated that they're cheese puffs. The Angry part is the most important and it's specifically referenced multiple times.
What a treat. Keep the Toy Story videos coming!
