The idea of Lockhart commentating for the Games is the funniest thing I've ever heard. "Hardly any of you remembered that my favorite berry is nightlock!"
The question about what she took from the cornucopia was wrong. In addition to the orange backpack, she also grabbed a piece of plastic and a loaf of bread. She did drop the loaf of bread, but she did grab it.
I thought she also grabbed a knife that was thrown at her because she blocked it with the backpack. Or was that just in the movie? Idk the book and movie details for THG tend to get muddled for me and I have trouble telling them apart unlike with Harry Potter Or maybe that doesn’t count? Idk
@@Boundwithflame23 The knife got stuck in her backpack, so she didn't actually pick it up. She pulled it out of the pack later after it was safe. I know the first book better than the others. HP I read several times, so that is stuck better in my head too.
I absolutely paused the quiz to skip back to when Jay muttered the answer to question 2, added captions, and was pleasantly rewarded with Banana Sandwiches. Just awesomeness!
I saw this at the beginning and turned on captions for it and was like this is so weird why do the captions keep saying banana sandwiches and died laughing at the 7 minute mark 😂😂😂
It just popped up in my mind that Haymitch almost was in 2 quatterquells. Maby it's a nice idea to make a video about what if Haymitch had to go in the arena in the third quatterquell
27:14 Can you imagine what all of them being called Gale would do in the reaping? "Gale Hawthorn." "Er, which one - there's 4 of us." "Er... er.... oh, forget it, I'll just pick again."
Imagine being exempt from the Games because you and your sibling have the same name. All the parents in Panem should have started doing that and the Games would have stopped happening.
Oh weather for a minute I was going to correct you and say Gale’s siblings are named Vick, Rory, and Posey. And that Gale’s mom is named Hazel and Gale’s dad is dead and we never got to hear his name but I understand it now
So J really inspired me to look into the etymology of the word “textile” so here it is. Ofc it comes from Latin, from the word “textilis” which is an adjective, meaning “woven”. It originally meant for fabrics that one could weave. And it makes sense in case of the word text or texting. Because it’s kind of like weaving but with the letters. 😁
Yeah. It seems like a rite of passage for when they pick up a new franchise. That being said. Hunger games doesn’t have as dense of a lore as most of what they cover.
I just listened to the Book 1 Audiobook. And I replayed it to double check... she grabs a sheet of plastic and Loaf of bread before running in to grab the orange backpack. (Chapter 11, about 4 minutes in)
I love the way Jay is so competitive that he aabsolutely MUST ask "clarifying" questions that pretty much give away the answer, LOL!!! She picks up a backpack, Jay, full stop. LOL!!!
Being from Denver I can confirm the capitol isn't here. In the book they say they went through a tunnel under the mountains to get to the capital. That means it'd have to be past the Divide.
12:58 I can just see the kids in the career districts going around campaigning like they do for presidential elections for the 1st quarter quell. 34:17 Paylor was in charge of District 8.
@@srayj Yeah, we actually know 8 out of the 12 hours of the clock arena. 😀 Here are the quotes from the book regarding the beast and insects: “A cannon blast brings us all together on the beach. A hovercraft appears in what we estimate to be the six-to-seven-o’ clock zone. We watch as the claw dips down five different times to retrieve the pieces of one body, torn apart. It’s impossible to tell who it was. Whatever happens at six o’clock, I never want to know. Peeta draws a new map on a leaf, adding a JJ for jabberjays in the four-to-five o’clock section and simply writing beast in the one where we saw the tribute collected in pieces. We now have a good idea of what seven of the hours will bring.” (Catching Fire, chapter 24, page 348) “Theoretically, we should have a full twelve hours of safety from the jungle. There’s an unpleasant chorus of clicking, probably from some evil type of insect, coming from the eleven-to-twelve-o’clock wedge. But whatever is making that sound stays within the confines of the jungle and we keep off that part of the beach in case they’re just waiting for a carelessly placed football to swarm out.” (Catching Fire, chapter 24, page 350).
I started watching this channel because of its Harry Potter content. But now, I love that it is starting to include more hunger games content. Both the books and the movies make up one of my favorite series of all time! I just finished rereading the series for the 3rd time and I watched the movies alongside them, and I have to say it’s even better this time around. Finnick’s death is one of the most moving in movie history. Thanks guys for making this content, and I’m happy to announce that this content is finally here to stay!
Easy. Cho and Harry would go to the dance together. Have a nice but awkward time. Ron would be off on his own ignoring Padma, and hear the gossip in the courtyard. He would come back and demand to talk to Harry alone discuss, irritating Cho. They would walk into an “empty” classroom and find hermione and Krum kissing. Queue Ron and hermione fighting while a smug beetle sit on the floor candelabra. This effectively kills the H/K relationship because Krum sees that she is more interested in Ron. Ron however goes into a spiral (a la 6th year lavender fiasco). He dates romilda vane in an attempt to make hermione jealous. She is mostly into it to get the inside scoop on Harry. Ginny dances the night away with Neville as per usual. Cho and Harry spend the rest of the year together. Cho tries to make room for herself in the trio, but they are so tight knit that it causes friction when she feels left out of secrets (because she is). It’s good and bad. Makes Harry realize that even pretty girls are people with flaws and insecurities, but it’s not quite as disastrous as cannon. Cedric would be jealous so he wouldn’t give Harry the clue about the egg until the last minute when moody goes on a lecture about honour and what is owed to allies as an aurror. Harry however has no beef so uses the clue right away. Harry sees crouch on the map in moody’s office, but he is looking so intently that he full on bumps into filch. The map falls and Harry clears it but filch caught a glimpse. He confiscates it. Ron is still the one that Harry would miss the most but this time Cedric Will miss an ex girlfriend of his that he got back together with at the dance. Rita writes an article about how much of a scarlet woman hermione is, because she “wants the attention of three men” (Ron Krum harry). The end of the book transpires as normal. Harry and Cho break up because she can’t really understand what he went through and Harry is being capsloc. Beginning of 5th year starts the same, but Ginny comes out of her shell earlier because she still thinks Cho and him are together and has “given up” on him. She and the twins learn he lost the map to filch. They make a plan to get it back. While working on the heist, Harry realizes he enjoys spending time with Ginny and makes a more conscious effort to spend more time with her in school. Harry tries to kiss Ginny after Sirius dies, but she thinks it’s just because he wants comfort and she doesn’t want to be his relief from sadness. They get into a fight. The first couple of weeks are frosty at the burrow (before 6th year) until they make a truce in the face of Harry getting the quittage captain badge and they realize that they will have to be on a team together, and they get back to being friends like they were before the kids. At school they end up hanging out while hermione and Ron are doing prefect duties. One time Harry makes Ginny laugh until she cries and she kisses him. They start dating in secret because he is convinced Ron will be upset (especially after his very public breakup with romilda vane). Until one night he finds them snogging.
I grew up in Denver and I don’t think that’s where the capitol is because in the books, the mountains are described as being east of the city but in Denver the mountains are to the west.
Hey guys, loved the video, but I just wanted to point out the the first Quizmaster question was actually incorrect. There also was a clear plastic tarp that Katniss picks up separately from the backpack.
I was looking for a comment that said this, I was so sure that plastic tarp would be a bonus point at least!!! Maybe they’re going by the films? But they talk about reading the books at the start…
5:03 A backpack (do we have to name everything in the backpack?) a sleeping bag a knife she wins when a tribute throws a knife at her and she blocks with the backpack and the night glasses (2 i believe?)
The Capitol is definitely Denver. Being from Denver myself, I can confirm that it's not actually "in" the mountains. It's about an hour drive west to get into the mountains proper, in the Boulder/Golden area, and then even further to get up into actual mountain towns.
I don't think it is, because when travelling from 13 to the Capitol Katniss describes going through a tunnel below the mountains, so the Capitol should be west of the Rocky Mountains and Denver isn't
Fabric throughout history has been very important to different cultures. Textiles, while including cloth for clothing, cushions, etc, also include stuff like tapestries and fiber arts, where the end goal is the textile, hence: separate name. Also fabric historically is VERY expensive which is why it’s such an established export
Jumping on here to say that J is right about "textile" not being an obvious word for what it is, but it comes from the Latin *textilis* meaning web, canvas or woven so it is pretty much a perfect word actually 😅 Other related words are texture (web, structure, something not smooth) and tela [Spanish, Italian] meaning fabric or canvas.
Gloss was a career tribute in the 75 hunger games and so were Enobaria and Brutus. The question was worded wrong because it said which of the following ( quarter quell tributes) but all the wrong answers were HG75 careers.
@@noelle_reads_alot let's party!🥰🥰 good luck with learning latin. The grammar is quite hard. I had it as a subject at school, and didn't like it. But I still remember some facts.
If you fly into Denver you will be amazed at how flat it is, but the mountains are right there in the distance and you do forget you are already a mile high even though its flat. Love Denver
Guys I understand the fun you are wanting to have with the audience and the captions, but please also keep in mind hearing impaired people are reliant on those captions to know what is going on.
Massive shoutout to the captioner that actually went back and wrote BANANA SANDWICHES multiple times where J mumbled through his answer!!!!! ‘Tis peak entertainment and they deserve a fat Christmas bonus.
Sejanus really sounds like Sir Janus, which would also fit because he belongs to a wealthy family (Sir) but still has two identities/faces (Capitol and District) like Janus, the god with the two faces
In case no one clarified already, Paylor was the commander in 8 (and future president) Lyme was a district 2 victor and the rebel leader in that district
I heard once that the difference between English people and American people is that English people think 100 miles is a long way and Americans think 100 years is a long time, hearing J talk about that chair really proves that to me 😂 I think nearly everything in my house (furniture) is over 100 years old
26:07 Posy I know is one because I remember Gabe saying (paraphrasing here) "Ur mother saved my sister's life Katniss. Remember that year when Posy was so sick with fever?
Ok, I'm good at the Harry Potter trivia, generally. But I am slaying at THG trivia. Never stop your Hunger games coverage!! Please, more and more hunger games theories, and what ifs and ballad of Songbirds and Snakes thiughts
After the whole conversation about captions, I can't tell if they are youtube autogenerated or not cause if an individual was doing them, there are too many context clues for those kind of mistakes. I volunteer as tribute for captioning all future videos.
34:11 I wrote the same answer but I think in the novel it was only hinted at when Haymitch (or Plutarch, I'm not sure) said that after Coin's death they plan on doing a provisional election where Paylor probably has the most chances to win. But it could also be that this was a part of the movie and not the novel. I'm not entirely sure about that
As someone who sews, thought I would clear this up. Textiles does not just mean clothing and to say "fabric" doesn't give the full scope. Textile is an umbrella term that includes various fiber-based materials (including fabric), but it's ANY product made from woven fibers, which includes *yarns, filaments, threads (which are used to weave fabric), carpeting, towels (which are NOT the same thing as fabric), upholstery, bags, or even industrial products such as fire hoses, ropes, and nets.* The main difference between "fabric" and "textile" is that fabrics have a _specific_ use in that they are designed to be turned into clothing, but fabrics are materials that have been through additional processes like dyeing or printing. A textile refers to the _base_ materials that are made from woven fibers. So all fabrics are textiles, but not all textiles are fabric. (Sort of like all thumbs are fingers, but not all fingers are thumbs.)
Aquarius is a wind sign. I used to be confused and would think Aquarius, aqua. Aqua is water. But no. Aquarius is not a water sign. Thus the number 4 being in the house of Aquarius has little to do with anything water related as far as I'm aware.
I have something to say about one of the questions, "3. FIRST QUIZMASTER QUESTION: This question was submitted by Morgan and voted on by patrons - What item(s) does Katniss grab from the Cornucopia at her first hunger games?" It says that the backpack is the only correct answer when she also grabs a loaf of bread, which is an option and what I chose as I remembered her grabbing it first (I was right), so that should be marked as a correct answer. Great quiz overall though!
As much as I want the capital to be Denver since it's 1.5hrs away from my house, I think it's Colorado Springs. It's a valley surrounded by mountains, their is a Reservoir, and it's surrounded by military. Unfortunately even though I'm still in CO I live in the agriculture area I'd probably be District 11 😢
you’re welcome 😂 i won tickets to the first movie by being the only person to answer a version of that question correctly out of my middle school (20:41)

@@harleymyers2682 a) the super Carlin brothers have a video about it that explains it better than I can. B) it makes sense for Coin to have known about the n Bombing as katniss was lacking motivation and they hear about the bombing way before the sirens go off.

I haven’t been able to watch all this awesome new Hunger Games content from you guys because it’s all been spoilers for Songbirds and Snakes (which I haven’t read yet). So I’m excited for this one! No spoilers! 😊
The piece of plastic was in front of her and the furthest thing out there. She talks about how the loot gets worse the further from the cornucopia. So she picked up two things, guys!
Textiles are derived from the Latin and french texere meaning to weave. Originally it was only for woven fabrics but now has been adapted to almost all fabric production
So, in the multiverse version of Panem where Cornelius Thunderdome was the games master and Gales' siblings were all called Gale-something - would that make his family the Gale Force?

@@noelle_reads_alot let's party!🥰🥰 good luck with learning latin. The grammar is quite hard. I had it as a subject at school, and didn't like it. But I still remember some facts.
If you fly into Denver you will be amazed at how flat it is, but the mountains are right there in the distance and you do forget you are already a mile high even though its flat. Love Denver
She didn't get the bow/arrows until she got them from Glimmer after Glimmer died
I got 14/15. When J said "Gale 1, Gale 2, Gale 3", it reminded me of the fact that George Foreman's sons were all named after himself.
Yasssss! I'm so happy to have a J vs Ben HUNGER GAMES EDITION!!!
Sejanus really sounds like Sir Janus, which would also fit because he belongs to a wealthy family (Sir) but still has two identities/faces (Capitol and District) like Janus, the god with the two faces
My favourite youtubers covering my favourite book series ❤
In case no one clarified already, Paylor was the commander in 8 (and future president) Lyme was a district 2 victor and the rebel leader in that district
I heard once that the difference between English people and American people is that English people think 100 miles is a long way and Americans think 100 years is a long time, hearing J talk about that chair really proves that to me 😂 I think nearly everything in my house (furniture) is over 100 years old
100 years can be a long time depending on the context of what you’re talking about. Like 100 miles can be long depending on what you’re talking about.
@@blakekaveny it’s just a saying 🤷🏻♀️ I don’t think you need to deep it
Will there be a live Kahoot quiz soon?
26:07 Posy I know is one because I remember Gabe saying (paraphrasing here) "Ur mother saved my sister's life Katniss. Remember that year when Posy was so sick with fever?
Textile - Woven : Fabric - Physical material : Cloth - What clothes are made of ...
Textile is the least vague ...
Oh my days yay a hunger games trivia can’t wait to watch ❤❤
Enjoy!
Oh I’m so thrilled that you are doing this HG content. Please do more.
WHERE WERE THE BANANA SANDWHICHES? love your guys' content btw ❤
Never has a quiz and its questions made me so happy, every question i got right got me jumping 😅
I'm not entirely sure about that
YES!!!! Finally a Hunger Games trivia! 😁😁
I haven't heard a Perfect 5/7 joke for so long. I love it.
love that youre doing hunger games now (:
I could not thank you guys so much for the Liquid Luck. It is my new favorite (tied with original)
The third question has a caveat. She technically took a knife from the cornucopia, but she didn’t intend to, Clove tried killing her with it.
😇Thank you for the closed captions! However crazy they are!!
1:54 All I could think of was "IT'S SAR-DOH! No Mister. Accent on the Doh"
This episode made me think that Ben and J have never been to Denver lol
I got all but one right, apparently I'm ready for the new movie
As much as I want the capital to be Denver since it's 1.5hrs away from my house, I think it's Colorado Springs. It's a valley surrounded by mountains, their is a Reservoir, and it's surrounded by military. Unfortunately even though I'm still in CO I live in the agriculture area I'd probably be District 11 😢
Textiles can include flooring because of carpeting!
Feels nice to see ben ahead all the time
you’re welcome 😂 i won tickets to the first movie by being the only person to answer a version of that question correctly out of my middle school (20:41)
Paylor is the Dr/leader of the district (8?) Katniss goes to to film the promos. she visits the hospital and then right after it gets bombed (which was planned by coin btw thx brothers) Katniss gives the "if we burn u burn with us speech"
Paylor is the Commander of District 8 (when she meets Katniss and the crew in District 8, she’s introduced as “Commander Paylor”).
Evidence on coin planning the bombing? Not saying you’re wrong I’m just asking for curiosity
@@harleymyers2682 a) the super Carlin brothers have a video about it that explains it better than I can. B) it makes sense for Coin to have known about the n
Bombing as katniss was lacking motivation and they hear about the bombing way before the sirens go off.
8:50 Did he get that score bc of the camouflage? I'm not sure if they say this in the book or not, but I think I remember/assumed he got that score bc of lifting/strenght?
Yeah, the first time he used his strength as his skill. He then used his painting skill in the next one
If this has "Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" questions, I'm cooked. Haven't read that one yet
Second time asking for a "what if katniss never took prim's place in the reaping"
talking about the color of their pants in the black and white pre-intro segment is hilarious.
