Thank you!!!! Give it some time and get up close to one. I think it'll start to grow on you. Also, look at it as a new truck with some classic additions....not a W900
I think the opposite...wouldn't even consider a W900, but they've finally arrived in the 21st Century with this...may the US will finally go metric like the rest of the planet now?
From start to finish great job I definitely love the W990 Kenworth I use to drive one my truck had the mid roof sleeper an it was set up for heavy haul had the 18spd manual transmission an Cummins with the X15 on it definitely love Kenworth Kenworth will always be my choice in trucks but I still like the W900 longhood that truck is still awesome
It will be very interesting to see what the aftermarket companies come out with in regards to different cosmetic enhancements, such as the headlights. A black and chrome truck with smoked chicken lights and headlights, with some 8inch straight pipes would look killer on one of these I think.
Hi there. I am watching your videos now for some time from the other side of the big sea from Germany. First time I saw the W990 I was not very impressed, because the W900 is THE classic tractor from Kenworth. But as more as I see your vids from the W990 I begin to fall in love with him. I think both tractors will find its place on the roads. By the way, your vids are great.
Nice, very nice, but a three things wrong: (my opinion of course) (1) adaptive cruise along with auto trans(I know this one is a stick) should be outlawed. Driver is NOT in control of the vehicle under these circumstances. (2) cruise control controls should be on the left side of the steering wheel, driver should be able to disengage cruise and be able to grab a gear at the same time. (3) brake buttons should be higher on the dash, driver should not have to reach down for those buttons, have seen this on New freightliners also, not the best position. I realize companies see adaptive cruise, auto trans and others similar accessories as safety items and fuel savings , but in my opinion they contribute to complacency. All that being said, beautiful truck, good video, wouldn't mind putting a couple hundred miles on it myself
The 990 may have all the modern stuff that most of groan about but overall the look of it is really growing on me. As they might say "It is what it is" and I think they are pretty decent for what they are
Question? Is it double frame, What’s the price tag for that unit as is and is it possible to add a few things more just details like raise the ratio and Front axel a little more beefy, Thanks!
It is a single frame on this truck. I don't have the pricing done quite as of yet, but should in the next day or two. You can add a few things, but you'd be better off ordering your specific spec as we could have something for you in August
Pity we can't get this model down under, nice truck, does it come in twin steer configuration?, with our new regulations twin steer tractors are common now, both cab over and conventionals. Kenworth is very popular with operators in New Zealand, especially in line haul , logging and livestock transport, our trucks all proudly made in Australia.
This truck is more of my style. I currently drive a T880 that's uses the day cab. Great setup and spec, not much I'd change. That Limited Edition interior is in a class all by itself. As always another great video and I like your different approaches to them. Now lets the discussion on this begin cause the sleeper truck definitely got it going.
@@KenworthofRichfield I ask you last week once you made the announcement, what was the wheel base. I haven't watched yet as I still at work in VA, so let me get home an relax because I know this is gonna be good..
Shame you didn't have a W900 like the ones in the past that you've had to put right next to the W990. I remember the red W900 and the twin red W900's. Yes, both are great trucks!
Heavy Haul? Maybe mid weight heavy. You want heavy haul stretch the wheelbase another 48” slip in a 20k airlift pusher, add a 18k steer axle with twin power steering boxes, and add another 24-36” of slide to the fifth wheel, and don’t forget to double frame the frame to handle the pressure, and finally where is the two speed rear axles. Now you have a real heavy haul truck. Go big or go home. I do like the W990 though, that looks like it would be a good end dump tractor.
Where is the thank you switch when a driver flashes you over. I have always wondered why truck makers other than Freightliner's didn't put that on as standard equipment
I could only imagine if the Limited Edition interior had different color options for the stitching. Red stitching would good with that Red exterior paint.
