    I bought my specifically for playing Apex Legends and it works like a charm. I’m heart broken to see how much this controller gets destroyed with these reviews when honestly it doesn’t deserve them. With the modules alone I see and understand why this controller is so expensive and in my opinion is a fair price. I’m not sending it back, I love it.

      I wish the price was a bit better.
      It does not feel as premium as my ps5 edge controller but it has much better attachments.
      The annoying thing about the edge is that you can't map buttons without a ps5.

      @William Drake I haven't noticed any issues yet. I also have their gambit controller and no issues. To be honest, I only think I had 1 playststion controller suffer from stick drift.
      I really wish we could get zen working again as I have the gulkit king Kong pro 2 that has zero stick drift and feels good in hand as well.
      I wouldn't even need the zen if sony would just allow 3rd party controllers and I would have just stuck with the Gambit since I play wired anyways

    Bluetooth adds input latency. This controller was designed specifically for Fighting games. For Fighting games lagged inputs and button presses are very detrimental to gameplay. That is why they went with the dongle alternative. They dongle offers little to no latency issues.

    That's literally the only reason why I wanted the controller but thank you for being the only person online to clarify that.

  • @yarbles66
    @yarbles66 Год назад +11

    I think you've missed a lot of the point here. This is a controller specifically designed for fighting games. You obviously haven't played them much or you'd understand a few things better.
    I entered tournaments as a kid across the UK in the early - mid 90s and you had to use a pad. The six button thing makes a HUGE difference & the d pad is far superior to any other.
    Fighting sticks are cumbersome.
    I haven't been able to play fighting games for YEARS due to my thumb being absolutely battered from many years of (especially) Street Fighter 2. This is true with many of us older players.
    The build quality also makes sense. It's very light and that makes total sense when using an underthumb grip - you want to play like this with something with a heavy build xbox elite? Good luck. The modular build also contributes to the building feeling a bit rattly (personally I'd rather it was just fixed in position with dpad up and six buttons - but I understand as to why the company need to offer something multi purpose).
    As for no bluetooth. I never use Bluetooth. It's utter shit compared to 2.4ghz. If you can't organise your your gaming equipment properly to the point you're losing important components - that's on you. Besides - if you do lose it, you can buy a generic 2.4 ghz receiver for a few bucks.
    If you can't do an objective review - don't bother mate.

    However I disagree that it feels cheap. I think that’s a trick that happens when the rumble is removed-it feels so light that you think the plastic must be really cheap
    But the same thing happens when you take out the rumble on a Sony controller-it feels weird and hollow and plasticky
    That said I wasn’t getting the best clicks out my back buttons. Maybe it was latency (online gaming), but I just don’t want to deal with any problems of buttons not working, etc.

    • @SilentAndy
      @SilentAndy Год назад +1

      Completely agree. I think it's the placebo effect to blame here for why everyone thinks it "feels" cheap. In reality, it's probably the same plastic quality as any other controller, but don't quote me on that one. 🤷‍♂️😂

    Even if PDP acquired the patent for the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, it would have skyrocketed the price of the controller to $280+, as well as increased the weight 10 fold. It would not be comfortable in the hands, especially for the way the BFG pro is meant to be used (on-the-go-fightpad for Fighting games, or a substitute for fps sometimes).
    The controller has so many plusses in today's market that it's hard to skip:
    - Quick swappable and replaceable modules that can be configured into Xbox or PlayStation layout (or even with Fightstick-style buttons on the right side)
    - Multiple height quick switch sticks (Great for fps games where precision is 1000% necessary)
    - Anti-drift hall effect joystick options (Every gamer knows the struggle)
    - Sturdy and reliable back buttons (Great if you don't want to destroy your hands playing claw)
    - Multi point trigger stops (reduces time clicking triggers and more gameplay)
    - Good, swappable, d-pad (the more intuitive, the better)
    - Purchase options compatible with Xbox, PS4, PS5, PC (Everyone has a good time)
    - 2.4gh Wi-Fi dongle (Wi-Fi connections usually have 2/3ms faster inputs than Bluetooth, although Bluetooth is more convenient)
    - Software that works nearly flawlessly with the controller for all its functions, settings, remapping, etc
    I can't imagine a more perfect controller for the daily needs I would use it for. I would have all the options, and even niche things that I didn't think I'd need until I held it for the first time. PDP definitely cooked with this controller, and the fact that after all this time they're still working to improve it means they're dedicated to their craft and their customers.

    You make fair points about the missing features but buyers already know this in advance. I do agree about the sensitivity of the triggers. It's something I noticed right off the bat and I don't like it. Im not bothered by having to use the dongle for wireless though. You are also on point about how cheap the controller feels. It has a 2 year limited warranty but that's not really an excuse for this controller feeling so cheap. I'm disappointed when it comes to that. I do feel like the controller is comfortable despite feeling cheap.
    I play both shooters and fighting games so I feel that this controller is still more than worth it for those alone. Currently there isn't a good native alternative to this. The DualSense dpad is absolute trash for fighting games(tried the Hori FIghting Commander Octa and it wasn't good enough imo) and I prefer to play shooters from asymmetrical position. The Victrix Pro BFG fills both those needs and ultimately why I refused to buy the DualSense Edge. I'll just keep my DualSense controllers for the games that uses those features.
    Having said this, your review was fair and well made.

  • @petree
    @petree Год назад +5

    The whole haptic and whatnot doesn't matter to me. All that matters is that the controller will stand the test of time and that the dpad is deadly accurate.
    It's really hard to find a pad for fighting games I like. I want the accuracy of a great pad but the face buttons of ps or xbox. I would pay premium price for that dpad. Victrix from my experience makes fgc peripherals. What pad users need for fighting games versus like a person who casually plays shooting games action games etc is different. All those fancy features people are attracted to don't necessarily matter. There aren't many fighting game tournament players over the large community, but there are also no real good options for pad players either.
    Also wired is typically standard for fighting game tournaments. Some tournaments are lax but wireless isn't allowed usually.
    I'll kinda see how this goes until I decide to buy.

    Reviving a dead comment section but the OP makes some very off base and false comments. The triggers being sensitive is usually a plus, pressing them on accident is user error not controller error. The term get good comes to mind. But aside from that he said the wireless is only through the dongle. It actually features the full bluetooth compatibility that the original branded xbox and ps5 controller have. Even tilt function works fine through the integrated bluetooth as well. The other difference is the astoundingly better build quality and self repair. It has onboard stick drift fix which is a true fix and not just an increase/decrease of dead zones. It re-calibrates to perfection. It's everything the other controllers do just better. This is not a paid promotion simply clarification by someone who regularly uses all of the mentioned controllers as well.

The only thing I'll miss is a microphone and speaker but I have wired headphones soo we for me again.. sound from speaker was already quiet and sometimes I had an problem to understand what and who said.. But like this feature. For single player immersive thing I still have dualsense and don't need edge. For games like destiny or maybe fortnite oh god lame I know - I have a victrix. Dualsense edge cost 1200pln (Poland) victrix cost 800-850pln. Dualsense both edge and normal have very poor battery. Victrix has 4 additional buttons instead of 2. You can map on fly without any menu. With victrix I can use xbox analogs positions thats imo more comfortable.

    This controller is better for Call of duty and fighting games. I own both this and the dual sense edge. The duel sense is nice but in my opinion it's kind of useless for fps because the battery life and two paddles. The duel sense I brought for the Sony exclusives. @@GearsAndTech I think the edge is aimed more for Ps exclusives which is okay. But my daily driver is the BFG because it's like the swiss army knife of all controllers currently. There's so many options on it. Once you calibrate the remote and map all buttons to the back buttons the edge doesn't even stand close to it because it only has two back buttons. It's lighter and better for longer gaming sessions in general. Has a great battery life. The only thing about the edge that I like is the look and feel and that's about it. It definitely feels more premium. But don't think because the BFG feels cheap it underperforms. As a person who has always been a playstation guy I think I got the remote for nostalgia purposes. But I feel like I get higher kills and win more matches with my BFG vs my dual sense edge. It was a pain in the ass to get used to accounting for all the back buttons. But once I got used of playing with all four the edge went in the holding case. I will save it for my solo games like sports, racing or storied driven adventure games. It's just opinion don't shoot the Messenger.

    Bought a used one on ebay. Its missing the dongle so i just use it wired which isnt an issue its also missing the fight pad (which suck since i bought it to use on fighting games mainly Tekken) but since i already have the Hori Fighting Commander Octa with the 6 button layout indont really mind not having it for this used controller. and i also dont mind not having the 6 button since its not my favorite coz im more used to the 4 buttons. I only payed 50$ for the used controller so i dont really mind it.

    There is copycat besavior coming out of China for around 40-50 price point. Would you still go for besavior at this point with those on the horizon?

      @@GearsAndTech they are listed on Walmart website if you look up ps5 paddles and ALL over ali China commerce sites. Don’t see anyone talking about them

      @@GearsAndTech it is actually hard to believe how different the market would be if Sony just added 4 paddles to their controller. The amount of needless debate and 3rd party options is dizzying because of them doing this

      @Carter Brown Yeah seriously! That's the only reason I'm not getting the Edge... just two buttons on the back when the Elite Series 2 has 4 buttons and is cheaper? I just don't understand why they made that decision
