Looking back on this it shows how smart/ahead of the time John was. Multiple studies on training at a long muscle length eliciting a great hypertrophic response.
I hope the portion that he was about to talk about at the end comes out. Looks like he was about to discuss calf training. Great content though. Really love this channel.
So he would have the "hard" back day on Wednesday followed by two days of for back, but would Wednesday also be the "hard" day for Chest because as he says the hard days should be followed by the most rest days(two days) ?
Awesome content ! Just a question, to make sure that I figured it out : When you are hitting it at a normal volume, it would be something like : legs / monday ; chest , delts and tris / tues ; back, bis on wednesday / thursday it would be an off day, than on friday he would be hitting a pump workout for legs ; saturday and sunday it would be rest again (?) and repeat this bloc for legs twice a week for 4-5 weeks (just like when he is hittin a high volume program ?) and then chance the muscle group which is working twice ?
Does he actually KNOW the soviet lifting programs destroyed most trainees or is that just what he thinks happened? From my (limited) understanding listening to Pavel Tsatsouline they used a training method where they lifted heavy weights, high frequency, but with very long rest periods and few sets per session, constant stimulus and plenty of volume but no muscle frying grinding workouts. They never "worked themself out" they saw it as strength "practice"
As I understand it, from Max Aita who trained with the creator of Bulgarian training whose name escapes me, this is true of the Bulgarians. But I'm not sure if it was true of the Russians as well.
these series is the only informative vids I have seen for the sake of knowledge and training almost all others is just trying to get views and are pointless
These are amazing. Thanks John and Dave for being so generous in sharing.
