  • Carp fishing rigs can be very confusing simply because there are so many out there! Carp anglers tend to blame their rigs if they blank when in reality all rigs will work and you just need to use your knowledge of watercraft to find where the fish will feed. In this video my wafter rig challenge I attempt to catch 6 carp on 6 rigs in a day session to prove they all work and hopefully help you realise you donned to worry about rigs and just focus on which one is easiest for you personally to tie then find the fish! Also I announce the winner of the sunlessa head torch.

    Yet anther great vlog, always exploring new ideas. I’ve used the same running rig with a 2 oz leads & stiff braid hooklinks for over 25 years now & I’m still catching on them now - Albeit a bit more refined with wafters or bottom baits. The less knots used the better I always say. Wafters are double handy if you don’t know the lake bottom & want to get one on the fish quickly.
    Tight lines fella 👍🏻

    Interestingly, I've had a lot of fish on the 'standard' knotless knot rig over the years, until the start of last year it was my go to for everywhere.
    I've started using the slip d rig and had some good results with both bottom baits and pop ups, the hook hold tends to be in the middle of the bottom lip most times.

    • @SimonDewCarpFishing
      @SimonDewCarpFishing  Год назад

      Cheers for your comment mate. I've played with the slip D. I like it but my only concern was that the D can twist round the hook causing the bait to stick on the hook point. I like to use a rigid material for the D to stop this happening 😉

    Hey Simon, great vid. Was gutted not to see the German or the multi as I’m experimenting with these currently. Awesome anyway 👊🏼 ps. With your blowback rig do you always have to use some form of pva to ensure no hair tangle?

      Hi mate I've been chopping and changing rigs a lot lately but couldn't use them all in this vid! The ones you mentioned will of course work too! Yes I usually use a PVA mesh bag or foam nugget to stop the hair tangles 😉

    The iq2 rig is deadly but i always find it hooks in all kinds of places roof of mouth side of the mouth very rarely central bottom lip for me. But I know it works I caught 8 fish In a hour once in the edge and was almost every fish picking it up was a fish on bank

    • @SimonDewCarpFishing

      Yeah it seems a good rig although dodgy hook holds can lead to mouth damage so I may leave that rig alone 👍

    I fish both match style and carp style. I can tell you fishing for this size fish that you will land more on a size 16 with a banded pellet. You will catch more too.

    • @SimonDewCarpFishing
      @SimonDewCarpFishing  2 года назад

      I agree mate and I've done well on method feeder with pellets on this lake. However there are carp up to 25lb in the lake and catfish up to 50lb so I tend to gear up for them incase I get lucky. Also I wanted to test the rigs and this lake gives the chance of a few bites this time of year 👌

    Depends on the water I sneakerly saw someone's rig once and tied one up 20 mins best fish 47lb followed by brace off 20ts on a water and spot I fished with little success for a year to then catch most off them 😂 rigs don't make a differnce on a 600 fish venue though just my own observation

    • @SimonDewCarpFishing
      @SimonDewCarpFishing  9 месяцев назад

      I think it's more down to rig length and baiting situation etc the actual rig as long as its tied well with good mechanics really doesn't make a difference 👍

    Its not about the rigs working ,,its about what kind of damage these rigs do to the carps mouth,, in my opinion, some rigs are lethal to the carps mouth

    • @SimonDewCarpFishing
      @SimonDewCarpFishing  2 года назад +1

      Yes I agree and one of the things I consider when choosing rigs. A better hook hold does less damage which is why I won't use certain rigs 👌

    The palm test is totally useless, last time I checked carp don't have hands?

    • @SimonDewCarpFishing

      No but they have a soft lower lip which is the area we are targeting so the palm test let's you know if the rig turns when the hook length is tightened 👍

      I'm not trying to prove if one rig is better than another, just that they all work so we shouldn't worry so much about which rig we use. The only way I could do that was go somewhere I was likely to catch on each rig 👍

    • @jamesanderson4964
      @jamesanderson4964 2 года назад

    • @SimonDewCarpFishing
      @SimonDewCarpFishing  2 года назад +2

      You're missing the point entirely. Not all anglers have experience with rigs. There are newcomers to the sport who won't have tried or read about all these rigs. I merely wanted to have a bit of fun and see if I could catch on them all to take the worry out of choosing rigs for less experienced people. Out of all the many comments on this video, yours is the only negative one maybe that says something about you 🤔
      My channel is all about helping people especially beginners and its free to watch. It takes a lot of time, effort and money to produce the videos so maybe think about it before you comment 👍
