I have to thank whoever planted that mulberry tree in my childhood neighborhood and then never pruned it. Discovering that our favorite climbing tree had delicious berries in the spring could have inspired me to take up growing food instead of the relatively worthless hobbies I took up instead.

I find the best way to keep the vigor down is to top the plants often, produces a bushy mulberry and the multiple branches with fruit keep it from getting too big as fast.

Around here mulberries are pretty looked down upon...they get massive and leave a huge mess underneath them (don't have them near a patio and certainly don't park under them). 8-12' tall at full size sounds really manageable (even better if you prune them to 8'). I LOVE the size of our bush cherries, they're just getting to 6' tall now and it's just so easy to deal with compared to 25+' tall trees. I'll have to find a spot in the yard for one of these. :)

Per your recommendation, I picked a couple of these up this year. Mine are even smaller than yours and still pumping out the fruits. Thanks for the endorsement! Haha

Girardi mulberry, this is the only TRUE DWARF MULBERRY, best small mulberry tree ever, and has full-sized fruits! We have one growing in our tiny yard for us humans to eat from and it won't get too big. But we planted the bigger everbearing mulberry dwarf trees in the back desert wash for the birds. The everbearing dwarfs are not really that dwarf. If you have a small yard and limited space the Girardi is the real dwarf and doesn't take much pruning to keep small either.
