  • I grew this plant form a cutting. It is a very vigorous and productive variety. Mulberries have a great taste - like a sweet blackberry without the tartness.

    Nice info shared, thank you. I have several cuttings I'm currently growing. I have 2 other kinds as well. One is a noid but the fruit can be eaten at any stage and is sweet, even when pink. It is small fruit as well. New sub here.

      Thanks for dropping a comment. I’m also growing Shangri La and Pakistani varieties. Stay tuned for videos on those.

    If you pick these or if you pick blackberries or pick blueberries it is good to let them sit in the container for 24 hours before putting them in the fridge. This will sweeten them up tremendously.

    I bought five but because of the way they were shipped I broke one and it perished. I hope to not only get lots of fruit but also use them to distract the birds away from my fig trees which may have the opposite effect. Who knows. But I feed the birds and they eat a lot of pests in my garden so I need them around. Hopefully by planting a LOT of fruit there will still be enough for all of us. There were so many blackberries last year that we all had plenty in the big patch.

      Hehe, I like the strategy - just plant enough for everyone to share. Good luck!

    Very cool - i have a regular white mulberry - not worth it because it is too large and i need to cut it back every year. Curious what variety, i am also in 9B but in Florida. You should do a video on the wine

    Thanks for a nice profile. One question, when you say this variety has small fruits, what are you comparing it to ? Other dwarfs or are they the standard varieties ?

    • @jesen84
      @jesen84  2 месяца назад

      I am comparing it to other varieties such as Shangri La or Pakistani, neither of which is a dwarf. Usually the term dwarf tends to refer to the rate of growth or mature size of the tree, and isn’t a property of the fruit.

    Will the fruit get larger over time? The mulberries look kinda smaller than I remember them being during my childhood.

      Hi! There are different varieties of mulberries and these are one of the smaller ones. I’ll post some videos of Shangri La and Pakistani varieties this season. They are both bigger.

    How long can you keep this tree at 6 feet tall in a pot? Will it eventually need to go in the ground?

    • @jesen84
      @jesen84  8 месяцев назад

      I bet it could stay 2-3 years in a 15 gallon pot without issues. Longer term it would probably be happier in the ground.

    Is this a dwarf mulberry because it’s on a rootstock or does this variety just stay small?

    • @jesen84
      @jesen84  4 месяца назад +1

      It’s growing on its own roots - not grafted on a rootstock. The variety is dwarfed compared to other mulberry varieties that can reach like 60ft tall. However for a normal home garden it will get as big as you want.

      Lol the label said it will get 4’ to 6’ tall on one well I guess I will have to cut it if it gets bigger

    I picked up a tissue culture of this plant. Probably won't get fruit for another 2 years but I can wait. How did you go about up potting?

    • @jesen84
      @jesen84  Год назад +1

      You might be surprised how quickly it fruits. With plants this vigorous, I can go from 5 gal to 15 gal in a few months.

      Can you do a video when you prune your tree? I have one in a 5 gal pit right now and it’s 1 yr old. But am concerned on starting the pruning process for next year. I would love to have it look like yours. Very impressive.

      @@stitesa thank you! I’ll prune it about the same as my figs. Check out my fig pruning video.
