I had my first dwarf mulberry from my backyard a few days ago and it was so good I just smiled. I bought a white mulberry tree about a month ago and put it in a 40 gallon pot. I think it's trying to fruit already. I think it's a few years old. I just got it while it was dormant because it has a pretty thick
I planted four dwarf everbearing mulberry trees mixed in with my 6 fig trees. I`m gonna use cuttings to make more. If me and the wild birds can`t eat them all I`ll make wine. The weird raccoon here won`t eat blackberries or strawberries. It`s dog food or nothing. So maybe he`ll leave my figs alone.
@@pennynealeigh6557 I got mine in a 4 pack on the site named after the Amazon Rain Forest for about 26 dollars. They still have them and fig trees too for the same. I don`t have a car and live in a rural area very far away from the post office. I looked up pre-paid mailers from USPS and they say I have to get 10 at a time so I have no idea how I could mail anything to anyone without a car. I think I would need a printer to print a pre-paid shipping label or something. Everything nowadays is so ridiculous.
I purchased & planted a bare root Pakistani tree earlier this year. It is finally budding & I am so very excited! I needed something fast growing to offer shade to my animal enclosure. 😊
Yes, and easy to graft, too! I had a dwarf everbearing mulberry that didn’t have much flavor. So over 2 years I have replaced all the branches with Jan’s best, Shangri-La, Black Pakistan and Oscar. All are doing great, despite the record hot, dry summer here.
Great video!!I love mulberries!! In zone 6 Ohio and there are 6 growing right near my house I eat them every year and bake pies!!😂 Can you do a video of you grafting them or propagation on them that'd be really awesome I'd love to multiply my supply 💯
Palm Springs here, actually the north end of Cathedral City (adjacent to PS). Caliche soil here, what fun. Super dry, zero-nutrient pseudo soil here is always a big factor. What about using diluted 30% vinegar to break up caliche? Since much of my backyard is planted, can I use this how far from existing say, 4 year old fruit trees (which are not fruiting)? Yes, I love a challenge.
Hey, you made your own GM mulberry! Cool! I'd love to get the white Pakistani, but I already have two purple ones, and they don't do well in my climate.
People ask me to describe the flavor of a mulberry. Its always tricky, like describing 'green' to a blind person. The closest I can think of is a mild blackberry with hints of watermelon. Whay say you?
If you want some tasty fruit 1-2 months before mulberries, get loquat trees. Un-named seedling tree grown for landscaping sometime have decent fruit, sometimes not. Ideally get one of the cultivars selected for fruit quality such as Christmas, Yehuda, Avri, Novak, Gold Nugget etc.
My tree is FULL of mulberries I harvest daily and they hey just keep coming. I just planted a Pakistani too I’m excised to see how big the berries get on that tree; I hear they are massive which means more food!!!
Can you do a video on why my plants aren't fruiting? I bought a Fukushu Kumquat from you 2.5 years ago and the first 2 years it flowered but no fruit and the this year it didn't even flower. It looks great though. Bushy and beautiful dark green leaves.
The mulberry tree is a perennial. plant. The rejuvenate aspect of the tree is possible. The triggering mechanism of initiating flowering and fruit setting is by adopting frequent pruning of the branches . In India we grow mulberry for production of Silk. The crop is pruned every 90 to 100 days of growth.
I received mine from the mail and they are popping out of the ground like a bush with many different branches coming out of the ground. It it ok. It doesn't look like a tree but a bush.
I absolutely enjoyed this video. You covered questions I haven't gotten answered by some years of research because of our experience of living in high desert. I have a question please. I am planning a small chicken coup in the back corner of our property where there is a block wall at about 14 and 18 ft. Which mulberry would you recommend to shade our chickens without the canopy reaching power lines. After seeing your video I am thinking of a dwarf for the small fruit dropping for the birds into their small run. Our city allows five chickens. Also what would do well between a mesquite and eucalyptus tree which are kept pruned well enough to house another tree their size. However we are interested in the purple fruit and smaller trees in-between. Two or three dwarfs were being considered. But after seeing your video I realize that may not be a great idea because of fruit size. We have adequate shade/sunlight in this side yard now for a garden still. So because of the new information you have provided, we're considering about keeping a shangrala to size. Would you have a recommendation for these senerios? Also.. could we have information on your pricing and shipping please. We might wait until fall for the mulberry planting. And do not want one in our front yard. However we are preparing to ordertwo or three neem trees as soon as possible. Since today now is May 1st, 2024. Thank you for your time. And every detail you included about the care of the plants you feature. Plus some good common sense information provide, is immediately appreciated.
I live in Georgia I'm trying to puchace one, but i dont want them to deliver a male shangri la mulberry tree. Can I trust nursery's in this area? I watch your whole video and trust you and your nursery. Is there anyway you ship trees in my area?
Do white and the purple berries taste the same? I grew up eating the purple ones and want one but my husband doesn't want the purple because of the staining
I’ve I bought my home 6 yrs ago and I didn’t know it till this year that the tree at the end of my driveway that grows like crazy but I like cause it shades me when I have to work on my car is a white mulberry. It’s a strange thing but the tree has grown multiple trunks in a v shape, the ones on one side of the v is just loaded with berries and the other side of the v shape has none at all. It’s leaves are a lot bigger than the side that has all the berries this tree is about 35 ft tall now and I am constantly having to trim it up and it grows new froth from the bottom and gets tangled in my chain link fence. Now that know what it is I’m gonna grown some cuttings and sell them. Does anyone know why one half has the berries and the other size has literally none at all
Hi, Im from Islamabad, Pakistan, an avid gardener with a small area in front of my home that I am keeping green. Would love to have a chat/call if we can exchange cuttings. Totally ignorant about the laws applicable in your area. From Pakistan, I can send over a lot of cuttings/grafts for grapes, figs ... can give mango a try but idk if will survive... Looking forward to your reply and if you are interested, we can exchange contact details
I'm in Texas, zone 8 and I'm already picking some mulberries from my Red Mulberry, which is a Texas native.
I know where to come when I buy my desert homestead.. you really have informed me on what we can grow here, & how to make it productive!
It’s always gonna be a good day when one of these videos drop
Your mulberry trees are beautiful looking in comparison to some others.

Thanks for the mulberry info. Can you ship out of state?

Found on Ebay at Tfarms
Free S&H
The best thing about mulberry is that they're easy to propagate and you can turn one into 20 easily.

An easy & fast growing tree to plant in zone 8.

Beautiful! How old are those massive mulberry trees you pointed out?
i remember he said somewhere in the video they were less than 10 years old.
Those mulberries are notorious for getting caterpillar infestations.

Are you fertilizing? Citrus is a heavy feeder

how much is it pruned each time?
How close to a block wall can the Shangri-La be planted? I have a southwest corner I’m looking for a tree for. Thanks!

Are your mulberry fruits ripe yet that I could stop by this weekend to try the differences?
yes
