Is Pakistan Mulberry harder to root from cuttings? | Update video

  • Pakistan mulberry cuttings update video. Are they harder to root? not really... they simply require much longer to root than other varieties and the initial roots you get are very delicate. Leaving no room for mistakes. My recommendation: Root more cuttings than you need or graft them. Patreon: patreon.com/QCTropicals (Exclusive perks!)

    First of all, great video.
    Thank u for your honesty and all the great explanations.
    After watching this video..the natural conclusion is that it is easier to graft then to root cuttings.

    I want to share my experience. I've grown Pakistani mulberry cuttings. I planted them at the end of November. The weather is very cold and the fog keeps the cuttings wet. I don't think that they can get over hydrated easily. But they can fail if they get dehydrated. That's my experience with Pakistani mulberry cuttings.

    Very interesting, well done! I had problems with the white shahtoot pakistan mulberry, 40-60 cuttings across 4 seasons no roots, I think the issue is all energy going to making fruit instead of leaves/roots! Other mulberry varieties roots in 1-2 weeks some varieties even days in the warm season! Going to try again soon.

    Hello, I bought 6 cuttings of the King white Pakistani mulberries and only after a week or two, most of them turned brown, rotted and died. Only one clinging to life with 3/4 of the cutting is still green. What you think that caused them to die so fast unlike yours? Probably I had them too wet like you said?
    I put three of them in plastic bags with mixture of vermiculite. One in regular potting mix. And two in organic potting mix.

    • @qctropicals
      @qctropicals  3 года назад +3

      Humidity and heat can speed up the rot. Were your cuttings in a hot, high humidity environment in relation to the wet potting mix? Normally, it takes longer than 1 week for cutting to rot from a wet potting mix.

    maybe stick a couple in normal dirt. When you put all your eggs in strange soils like this you are guaranteed to eventually find resistance from some varieties. Maybe the tree needs more humidity and contact area, which that soil aint providing

    • @qctropicals
      @qctropicals  2 года назад +2

      Problem I've found if using dirt is trunk rot. Dirt compacts easy and hold more water than other potting medias. These cuttings take a long time to root and when using dirt they tend to rot before they root.

    Do you have records of what time of the year you rooted packistan mullberries before? Did you have them on a heat mat with your fig cuttings? Just would be interesting to discuss the differences between the two scenarios but you would have to layout the particulars. When started, conditions, methods, results. It would be a good learning experience for all of us if we could solve this problem.
