That scene with Ludlow breaking the infant's leg being removed _really does a disservice_ to the Lost World movie. For years, I've had to explain to people that Roland _didn't_ break the Infant's leg, and really had no intention to. But because the scene is deleted from the movie, the context that remains makes Roland out to be downright cruel.

The leg break deleted scene offers greater character development for Ludlow and Tembo. Whilst Tembo’s logic of hunting as a means of self actualisation is flawed and, as he finds out, tragically unfulfilling, it shows him not without humanity in that he does not desire to achieve his goals by, in his mind, dishonourable means. Ludlow, in contrast, is shown to be totally ruthless and uncaring in his pursuit of power and profit. Whilst both characters are ‘villains’, it does offer an interesting contrast between the two that adds more weight to Tembo’s tragic final realisation and makes Ludlow’s fate more impactful. His treatment by the adult T-Rex mirroring his own callous behaviour. The T-Rex’s animal instinct, ultimately more moral that Ludlow’s pitiless attitude.
This seems more deserved than the “now you’re John Hammond” line which feels more ‘popcorn’ in comparison. Particularly as John’s character growth and ultimate realisation (in the first film) was tragic as his motivations were noble yet blinkered.

I’ve seen a theory on how he died on another RUclips channel. In the movie you can see that his skeleton has no legs so it’s theorised that he was injured by the crash into the tree but the raptors ripped off his legs and eaten them and that’s how he died, through massive injuries and blood loss. Eric luckily managed to escape thanks to Ben probably sacrificing himself to save Eric. Compies don’t climb trees so it’s impossible that they killed him 😂 There’s obviously other apex predators on the island but however if the T-Rex or Spinosaurus got to him there would be nothing left of him, so the raptors are an an obvious opinion

That 2008 fire probably destroyed the spinosaurus sound effect archives too because future Jurassic medias like camp Cretaceous and Jurassic world evolution didn’t had access to them despite having access to other dinosaur sounds, so maybe the spinosaurus sounds got burned in the fire too. The Lost World explains the lysine contingency, when Sara discusses with Ian about the animals eating things which are lysine rich. It is an explanation based in legitimate science, because whatever nutrients are within prey will be absorbed by the predator. So these animals have adapted to their lysine defect by eating lysine rich items, and not only have survived but also thrived.

While not every movie can be made better by re-inserting deleted scenes, most of the deleted scenes for The Lost World, JP3 and Fallen Kingdom were both interesting and and plot-relevant. In particular Iris's death might have given Maisie a better motivation to prevent the suffocation of the dinosaurs having had her fill of death, however in the wrong she might have been.
That being said, the giant Stegosaurus carcass should have been an Apatosaurus from the start even if the presence of the carcass added atmosphere and urgency to the mission.
This may or may not have been a real piece of deleted content, but I still have this vivid memory of the Indominus tearing off the head of the Ankylosaurus in the cinema on opening night.

The deleted scene/deleted script that I would have absolutely loved to see [It was in the first Jurassic Park III script and it made a lot of sense] was Grant using the Raptor resonating chamber in the river.
Spinosaurus is focused on Paul on top of the crabe, Alan blows the chamber and the Spinosaurus turns to look at Alan but didn't seemed to scare Spino, Alan blows into the chamber for a second time trying to do it in somekind of "begging for help", same way the raptor did in those chambers where Amanda and Billy trap the raptor and Alan says "She's calling for help" after a few seconds a raptor answers back but can't be seen anywhere, the Spinosaurus look around trying to spot the raptors then the Spino notices a pack of around 5 raptors appeared on the river bank staring at the Spinosaurus then one jumps into his sail and the attack starts while one of the raptors stare into Alan and the raptors let the humans go away.

Any time i see people talking about jurrasic park deleted scenes i always have to bring up on from memory. In the original film when i saw it in theater the raptor scene with ellie in the power station was much longer. With scenes of her actually hurting her ankle. Cutting between her making her way back up through the building the a scene of a raptors foot stomping on the metal floors. It was such a tense scene. Bordering on being just too long. But it was great and i was so mad when the vhs came out and it was cut short.
Anger became confusion as subsequent releases, dvds, special editions, 3d releases never put this scene back in. Its never spoken of by the studio. And ive never seen other fans discuss it.
Id say 8 year old me must have made the scene up except my older brother who watched it with me also remembers the same way i did.
It should be noted that i recall a different delivery of malcoms line "that is one big pile of sh!t."
As well as a couple other differences that ive never seen return since Watching it in theaters.

-I recall some people were confused why “Kelly” was African-American while Malcolm and Sarah are white. I do believe people failed to notice the line of dialogue between Kelly and Malcolm as he is letting her know that he is leaving her in the care of some other “ex-girlfriend” of his and not Sarah (Sarah is the one Malcolm is trying to save). Kelly response by saying,”You like having kids but you don’t want to spend any time with them.” This angers Malcolm who points out that Kelly’s mom went of to Paris with some other guy and did not want to take Kelly with her. In the first Jurassic Park movie Malcolm blurts out to Grant that he is always on the lookout for a future ex-missus Malcolm. Meaning Malcolm gets around. Even John Hammond points this out in the small scene he has with Malcolm at his Estate in the Lost World: Jurassic Park Were Hammond also points out that Malcolm has relationships with some of top people in given fields (Hammond calling them, “Liaisons”). Kelly is supposed to be Malcolm’s daughter with yet another woman and not Sarah’s. And even that is put in to question when Eddie & Van Owens give hand signals about whether Kelly is really Malcolm’s daughter (they don’t see any family resemblance); Eddie does a wavy hand signal signaling “maybe, kind of “ while Van Owens does a flatline meaning no. Implying this woman who Malcolm was having a relationship with might just have been seeing someone else while dating Malcolm.

While it is vastly superior to parts 3 through 6, we all know that the first one is iconic and legendary for a reason. So it feels a bit lackluster by comparison to the first.

Plus it was also included in the novel and that was one of the best scenes in the book, personally, I don't know why you missed it klayton, I would have thought that you would have been straight on that one instantly. One other scene I saw you cover in another video is Ludlow's original death. In my opinion, the San Diego stuff ruined Lost World for me. But the original ending to Lost World was were Roland and Ludlow are out in the woods together and a T Rex comes up behind them. Ludlow and Roland have guns with them but Roland tells him not to shoot, "the animals have won." The T Rex then leaves, but as it leaves Ludlow starts shooting at it with Roland getting angry at him. Ludlow is then picked up by the T Rex but not eaten. Instead, just like the original ending, it breaks his leg and we hear screaming going on, most likely interpreting (or showing I don't remember) the infant eating Ludlow. It also ends with Roland being satisfied that he has found a worthy animal that is not to easy to hunt down but has a lot of intelligence to work with.

There is another scene in the Lost World that ended up on the cutting room floor. It's the Buck T. rex attacking Roland Tembo after he hit it with a tranquilizer. In an old Lost World documentary you see a cardboard T. rex head on a stick that picks up Tembo (stuntman). Roland only survives because the tranquilizer starts to work and the Buck does not use its full bite force.

I NEED an ectended cut for TLW in particular. The board room scene in particular irks me that it was cut, since it laid out Isla Nublar's fate. In the scene, its explained that Jurassic Park was destroyed. Presumably by the military or InGen themselves under Hammond's orders. So, it wasn;t the lysine contingency that would've killed the dinos on Nublar.

There were special Edition DVD releases of JP and Lost World that had all of the deleted scenes mentioned. They were limited releases before jp3. I wish I still had them knowing now about the fire hitting universal. There was another 2 min extended scene to the prologue of Lost world. It showed the girl being attacked, little cuts from the compy, after the mom screams. Her dad runs up, fights the compys off and they rush the little girl off. They're then in the hospital showing her in the bed barely holding on. Then it cuts to Ian yawning on the subway. it was very anti-climatic.
I've seen the baby t-rex's leg being broken as well. They find the Rex nest and Ludlow, not paying attention and just being scared, slips on the mud and falls into it. They made it look like a mound similar to a huge pile of sand found at a quarry but with the top dug out that was pretty deep and muddy. Ludlow slips and rolls down landing on the baby's leg, waking it up. He starts freaking out because now it's crying out in pain and tells Roland to shoot it. Roland then reiterates he came to the island to hunt a buck and now he had bait. The scene ends with Roland forcing Ludlow to do all the work carrying it but reluctant helps just as it cuts away.
I will admit that the details may be a little off as I'm pushing 37 in 2 months and I was a teenager when I last seen them. I do remember a deleted scene from JP of Sarah grabbing one of the extinct plants as they were riding up to see the Brachiosaurus. It's the one she has in her hand when Alan turns her head.

I'm pretty sure some of extra footage from the original trilogy could exist somewhere.
I had a friend back in the late 90's whose uncle worked on the first film. He apparently had some sort of unfinished preliminary cut, and that was the version he had grown up watching.
When he watched my VHS version at my house he was super confused about where certain scenes had gone or why they had been changed.
I don't remember everything he said was supposed to be there but I do remember him talking about more stuff with the Triceratops, that you could see more of the cow and raptors in the feeding scene, and that the leaf wasn't in the way when Muldoon was attacked by the raptors. I wanna say he also said the whole sequence with Elle turning back on the power was longer too, but I can't recall that for certain.
I imagine if one guy on the crew had a copy like that, I'm sure others did too. Just gotta hope one of them still has it somewhere. I've know a few other people with tapes like that for other movies and they do tend to look just like any other random blank tape, so I'm sure most have been long tossed both by virtue of being VHS and not looking like anything important but 🤞 someone held on to theirs.

I honestly feel that many if not all of these deleted scenes should've been kept in. Sure, they extend the movies an extra 15-30 minutes, but I think that such a change would've been worth it, as many of these scenes build on the lore, set up some of the already great scenes from the movie, and improve the characters and story as a whole.

    • @scottb3034

Spielberg was all about pacing, that's why his two movies are so lean when they could be much longer. It is also why the idea of a "director's cut" is ludicrous. The theatrical version IS his cut.

    • @AJSai3007
      @AJSai3007 9 месяцев назад

@@scottb3034 I wasn’t asking for a ‘director’s cut.’ I was stating that these scenes shouldn’t have been removed in the first place. I don’t care if it ends up being as long as the Lord of the Rings movies, the objective should be the put out the best version of the story. And if including those deleted scenes does exactly that, keep them in.

    • @scottb3034

@@AJSai3007 Never once said you talked about a director's cut. I did explain why these scenes were cut and they were cut for a legitimate filmmaking reason, pay attention and stop whining.
BTW, the "best version of a story" is usually the leanest, most straight to the point and focused version of the story. Not the one that meanders, contemplates its existence and is not laser focused. That's why so many directors talk about pacing and having to make "difficult" cuts. Storytelling isn't the same thing as just cobbling all the best scenes together.
You aren't asking for the best version of the story, you are asking for a padded run time. Not remotely the same thing.
Roland and Ludlow's scenes were cut because the story was ultimately about Malcolm and his group's adventure, the hunters were an ancillary group that supported it, therefore their story was not NEEDED to be told and did not service Malcolm's and the gatherer's story. The only storybeats the hunters had were in conjunction with the story Ian had. With that said, adding their scenes to the movie does not improve the film or its story because it doesn't improve Malcolm's story.
Take your lesson and sit down.

    • @AJSai3007
      @AJSai3007 9 месяцев назад

@@scottb3034 Ok, I don’t get why you’re getting aggressive about this. Granted, I could’ve worded my response a bit better to be more reasonable, but let’s take things down a notch.
In your first response to me, you brought up the idea of a ‘director’s cut’ being dumb in the case for Spielberg. I was not talking about that. My argument is that the deleted scenes presented in this video should’ve been kept in their respective movies due to the reasons I gave in my original comment. You respond saying that Spielberg intentionally cut scenes due to pacing and that it was his vision for the story. You expanded on this in your second response by saying ‘“the best version of a story” is usually the leanest, most straight to the point, and focused version of the story.’ You also argued that the scenes with Roland and Ludlow were cut because the story was focused on Malcom and his group, and thus the hunters story was not needed. You then ended by saying that it doesn’t improve the film or the story because it doesn’t improve Malcom’s story.
I don’t doubt that it was Spielberg’s vision to not have these scenes in due to pacing and to make the story straightforward and lean. And I am still a fan of the story we did end up getting. I am simply not convinced that adding these scenes would hurt the overall story and think that it would do the opposite.
Yes, the best stories are usually the more lean and straightforward ones. Emphasis on the word ‘usually.’ Just because it usually happens, doesn’t mean it always happens, that there are exceptions. I am of the opinion that the movies associated with the scenes from this video are among those exceptions. Take the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and the Hobbit trilogy to a lesser extent. The extended versions of the films do meander around and feel long winded, but they also feel better structured and/or help the story make more sense in some cases (extended scenes for the battle of Minas Tirith), they add little details that flesh out characters and improve world building (The introduction on Hobbits as a people, Treebbeard’s talk of Ent culture, all cut scenes involving Boromir), add more depth to already great scenes (Aragorn’s speech at the Black Gate, Frodo’s meeting with Galadriel), and it makes the fate of certain characters more satisfying and/or impactful (The death of Saruman). All of these scenes are able to improve the story without harming that of the main character(s).
This also ties into your last point about how adding the deleted scenes would not improve the movie because they don’t improve Malcom’s story in The Lost World. Yes, he is the main character, but the story of the Lost World isn’t his story. The overall story contains his story and centers around him, but it also centers around the story of the other characters. This is very much like the original novels. The story involves and at times centers around him, but it’s not ultimately about him. For the same reason, first Jurassic Park movie wasn’t about Alan Grant, but it revolves around him, Malcom, Ellie, Hammond, Arnold, and even Nedry. The same can be said for the majority of movies that aren’t centered around one character, like Spider-Man or Batman. Sure, the scenes with Roland doesn’t improve Malcom’s story, but it doesn’t hurt his story either. From what I can see, all they would do is add depth to Roland as a character and makes his ending more tragic. Even if you prove that they don’t improve the overall story, that doesn’t completely justify their absence because the quality of the story remains intact whether they’re there or not. You need to show how adding these scenes would hurt the story.

Sure some smaller calibers would be ineffective against large dinosaurs in the short term, but they would still lead to blood loss and eventual infection. Unless we’re giving the InGen asset control guys the accuracy of storm troopers, the I-Rex would’ve been extremely fatigued, if not dead from blood loss.

I think The Lost World has the most to gain with the addition of at least two of the three scenes mentioned here. I think the board room scene and the "breaking the leg" scene are no brainers to include, as it would give a lot of backstory to the movie's primary villain. The latter scene especially so, because as it exists in the theatrical release, we're kind of meant to assume that Roland broke the rex's leg as part of his effort to hunt the buck. So, it would be nice to have the additional context from the deleted scene that shows what actually happened there.
The Mombasa scene however is one that I think has a justifiable reason to have been cut, despite how cool it is. Presumably this would have been shown early in the movie (I haven't seen the TV edit, so I can't be certain) and I think it's somewhat at odds with the rest of how the intro of the movie plays out. We're really only introduced to the main characters that have been assembled by Hammond for the research team and there's only a brief mention of the efforts by Ludlow to send his own group to extract the animals; we don't even know that anyone else is planning to be there until the reveal scene with the helicopters towing equipment in. To have a prior scene with two dudes talking about going on "an expedition" that were not part of the team Hammond is sending would have been a bit jarring; like, how do these guys know about the island and who was it that told them about it? It's easy to understand how it all works now for those of us that have been watching the movie for 25+ years, but try to think about it as a first-time viewer. Our actual exposure to Ajay and Roland comes at the same time as the rest of the "other group" to establish how and why they are on the island, which the Mombasa deleted scene wouldn't do for all except the most keen of viewers.

Of all the frustrating things about Fallen Kingdom, not establishing that Iris is dead is INSANE. Other than her never being mentioned again, we have every reason to assume she lived. If she did what she was told and left immediately, no dinosaurs were loose then and presumably she had a car so she got safely away to probably have a serious cry and realize she needs to call the cops. It's so lazy and cheap that I honestly can't even. You're gonna force this adoption on the main couple, and failed to kill off her loving guardian that raised her, knows her secret, and wants to be in her life? Yikes, just have one of the escaped dinosaurs crush her where she's pulled over crying in her car after Masie lets them out. It would even add a layer of character development.

Then there was another embarassing moment for Lex when she encountered it. The next one, I have to admit would've been good, but then we wouldn't have had the iconic ending with Rexy. The next one was when the group were using some type of lift machine to fend off the raptors, then John Hammond came in with another shot gun, and saved the rest of the group.
