The "safety" bit always gets me. It shows just how flawed and even naive Curly's outlook on how people could possibly be. He doesn't just fail to see the evil that Jimmy is, he fails to see how humanity at all could be evil. We all know why Anya asks about the locks on the sleeping quarters. Curly looks at the question from an angle of general belief in human goodness. There's a lock on the medical room to keep people out from the medications - people can be tempted to imbibe in pain-killers or whatever else for reasons that aren't evil. There's a lock on the cockpit because, well - the same reason why there's a gun for the captain. If the greater collective decided that they weren't happy with the captain, it's imperative that there be a lock on the cockpit so the captain can - at worst - ensure they get to their destination. This could either be from a place of (unknowing) selfishness, he's concerned with his own safety or sees why there could be a reason to worry about it, or just knowing of past experiences where such a thing has happened. None of us need to question why the cockpit on planes lock, after all. But why no lock on the bedrooms? Well, what if someone locked themselves in their room and hurt themselves? What if someone went to bed, locked their door, and passed in their sleep? Or worse, needed help after an accident and couldn't get it because they locked the door? There's so many reasons why you might need to get into a locked persons bedroom. Curly doesn't think about the many reasons why someone might *want* to get into a locked persons bedroom with bad or evil intentions - because he doesn't believe it to be possible, in his mind. He is too naive for the good of his crew - to the chagrin of Anya.
@ASHU-Asher I agree that he’s no child, and he has to “TAKE RESPONSIBILITY” - but in no way are the events of the story Curly’s fault. It's amazing how people reduce Curly as "100% innocent" or "100% evil" when the truth is that the character is simply realistic and well written. His main problem is how his empathy is directed towards all the characters including his friend, Jimmy. He was the captain, he wanted everyone to be in a good mood and satisfy both parties, and in his mind the best way to do that was to ignore the bad and avoid confrontation at all costs. Yes, he was a bad captain for trying to give Jimmy a second chance (we all want to believe that horrible people, and especially those close to us, can change) and for not properly handling the Anya situation. But does that make him a bad person? Honestly, in my opinion, no. He's not good and he's not bad, but that doesn't mean he's responsible for Jimmy's actions, every decision he made was with a positive intention, and that's what led to his downfall.
he was so good he ended up being bad. so obsessively trying to keep everything together he was actively ignoring the problem, knowing that adressing it would cause further distress, especially with his friend Jimmy, who I think he was partially in denial about what he did.
He’s kind but he’s kind to a fault. An incredibly dangerous fault in the end. He’s that one teacher who won’t step in and do something about the kid who’s bullying another student, because he’s aware the bully had had it hard too. So he feels bad stepping in and having them removed from the classroom or having some sort of action in place because he doesn’t want everyone to be hurt. Does that make him cruel or make him deserve to have anything bad happen to them? Of course not. Deep down you might even like that teacher because they’ve always just been really nice to you. But as nice as they are, god damn are they so useless in situations like this. That’s the kind of person Curly is
@@BlueSpams In my country there are two sayings, "Sinning out of innocence" and "Hell is paved with good intentions", The first means committing a moral infraction, despite being an innocent person, while the second means that good intentions are useless if they are not accompanied by actions, When I hear these two sayings, Curly immediately comes to mind and how he sin being innocent without knowing that hell was paved with good intentions. That's why he's not bad, but he's not good either.
@KeyboardTarantula Who wouldn't be? Let's put aside Jimmy's actions and think about Curly's place, how would you react to knowing that your friend, whom you have known for a long time, is accused of such actions? Honestly, I would act like Curly, I would find it hard to believe that my best friend was capable of doing such a thing, and I would try to get an explanation from him, This is where Jimmy took advantage, since knowing that Jimmy is very noble, he played the victim with him and asked him to take his side, making Curly think about that, Although I think that after he saw that Jimmy was willing to kill everyone to avoid taking the consequences of his actions, he would completely regret what he did, unfortunately, it was very late

"the bigger picture" -just how he prioritezed the completion of the misson/survival of the crew over the dead pixel (the assault). COOKING with that line
There's such a genuine warmth when Anya says, "in the back of my mind, it's always there", and I just hngh- Like she really genuinely was only thinking of the dead pixel at that moment, and she's here with her friend Curly, talking about something inconsequential....until her tone changes, and she isn't.
I know people sometimes point to this scene and say that Curly blew Anya off on purpose and pretended he noticed nothing. But I actually really like the delivery here. He's just genuinely being an oblivious dumbass, only for the reality to hit him later on after the worst has already happened. Also huge props to the VAs, they did a great job on this scene.
1:13 this scene always breaks my heart, because curly took the question as; “why did they put locks on the medical room?” And not as “why didn’t they put locks in the sleeping quarters?” as she intended the question to be.

God, your animation is so good, and both Quills and Gianni fit the characters so well. This scene hurts to watch after understanding the subtext, but I really think you guys did it justice.
When she asked about the pixel Curly looks for a FEW SECONDS and finds no effort whatsoever to find it. This is an example of how he sees Jizzzapointment. “Maybe I’m just used to looking at the bigger picture” Curly's body was also an example on how Jimmy saw her and treated her mentally.
Curly is such a complex character, i want to blame him for not taking any action and be clueless but the way he ended up in the end makes me feel bad for him
Oh my god, I was having literal goosebumps seeing this scene fully animated and voiced. he was so good he ended up being bad. so obsessively trying to keep everything together he was actively ignoring the problem, knowing that adressing it would cause further distress, especially with his friend Jimmy, who I think he was partially in denial about what he did.
I recognized Gianni immediately
Can I just say Anyas voice is so fitting and perfect
The way she cuts Curly off: “8 months”. She’s a nurse, she’s smart, she did the math, and the numbers crushed her soul. The voice acting is incredible.
Welcome back joetastic!! ^^
HOLY SHIT GIANNI?? His voice suits Curly perfectly.
Thank you for feeding the Mouthwashing fandom with these fantastic animations, Joe.
AYYYYY HE’S BACK
The voice actors are fantastic as always. So is the animation! Looks a lot like how I imagine this scene in my mind
they would've been really good friends if curly could be RESPONSIBLE ABOUT JEEZNUTS
NEVER HEARD THAT ONE BEFORE
@raccoons_and_chaos I made it up myself recently [proud] and your user is so real
Fr, he chose a wrong friend.
JEEZNUTS 😭
@raccoons_and_chaos came up w it myself recently heh, ladies ladies one at a time!
GOD THIS IS MY FAVORITE SCENE IN THE ENTIRE GAME THIS IS BEAUTIFULLY ANIMATED AND VOICED AAAA GOD THE FACT SHE HOLDS HER STOMACH IS KILLING ME
can’t even imagine all the thoughts he was having while helplessly watching Anya taking the pills and Jimmy taking the gun right in front of him.
The channel has returned !! A good day for all Mouthwashing fans
RARE WHOLESOME CURLY FRY ANIMATION😦
"wholesome"
@@Wounded_Asclepiusit’s as wholesome as this game can get, I escaped to the fandom because the game was too dark😔
Well it's not really wholesome... Unless you're looking at the bigger picture lol
yeah it's wholesome... but there's a dead pixel in the corner.
@@teri97997 _ahhh,_ i don't see it
Anya's voice is so pretty im sobbing
THE VOICE ACTORS BEING VOICEQUILLS AND GIANNI?? HELL YEAH
How can Gianni have such a distinct voice but also be this versatile of a voice actor?
I remember you talking in Discord about how you were worried about animating this scene, but dude, you had nothing to worry about! this turned out incredible!
"the bigger picture" -just how he prioritezed the completion of the misson/survival of the crew over the dead pixel (the assault). COOKING with that line
This is my fav voice for anya. The actress gives her so much personality
No matter which fandom I migrate to... Gianni is always voicing someone there...
There's such a genuine warmth when Anya says, "in the back of my mind, it's always there", and I just hngh-
Like she really genuinely was only thinking of the dead pixel at that moment, and she's here with her friend Curly, talking about something inconsequential....until her tone changes, and she isn't.
Glad you got your channel back
Thank you, Gianni. Now i'm simping for Curly.
The true impact of this scene did not hit me until much later in the game and replaying it made everything about 100000% more intense. This game was phenomenal
I didn’t even recognize that Gianni was Curly, holy hell props to both voice actors, this is amazing
Ayy! The channel is back! We're sooo back!
this voice acting and animation is soooo good!!!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SCENE SM
VOICEQUILLS AND GIANNI!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS SO GOOD JOETASTIC!!!!!!!
This just shows how realistic the dialogue is in this game it's so good
The instant note of “8 months.” after she held her stomach.😕
YAYYY YOURE BACK!!!
Hope Youre alright.
Sorry you lost your shorts. It isn’t easy losing something you love.
But hope you’re ok. Your content is nice to watch.
Curly is Gabriel Ultrakill canon
GIANNI MAKES SUCH A GOOD VOICE FOR CURLY AUGHHTG
THANK GOD YOU'RE BACK!!!!
This is incredible, good god
The way she cuts him off with "eight months", Jesus
youre killing me bro this is heartbreaking
I love how Joetastic is carrying the fandom🙏
"Why don't they put a lock on the sleeping quarters?"
"What a weird, random...wait. Wait wait wait. SWANSEA GET THE AXE."
God, your animation is so good, and both Quills and Gianni fit the characters so well. This scene hurts to watch after understanding the subtext, but I really think you guys did it justice.
Please turn Mouthwashing into a full-fledged animated film I'm BEGGING YOU.
I would sob frfr
Oh Gosh, Curly has been always so clueless the whole time, and it only hurts even more when you take the hints at a second watch.
When Curly said about cockpit and safety - the first scene of the game comes back to mind, and it hits REALLY hard
@VoiceQuills BACK AT IT AGAIN WITH MORE ANYA WOOOOOOOO
If this keeps going, we'll have the whole game voice acted and animated beautifully like this!
Doubled over crying screaming sobbing 💛 thanks for making this
Gianni has become the Majima of indie games. He's everywhere I look and I cant escape lol.
I'm glad you got your channel back
When she asked about the pixel Curly looks for a FEW SECONDS and finds no effort whatsoever to find it. This is an example of how he sees Jizzzapointment. “Maybe I’m just used to looking at the bigger picture” Curly's body was also an example on how Jimmy saw her and treated her mentally.
I just wanna say i love your animations so much, and love how expressive you made the characters as well ❤️
WE ARE SO BACK
The body language is everything, another amazing animation! Cheers to the voice actors! O(≧▽≦)O
Ey! You got your channel back :)
When she held her stomach OH MY GOD. Im gonna actually bteak down sobbing. Jotastic, why would you do ts to me.
I LOVE THESE VOICE ACTORSSS I WATCH THEIR CHANNELS TOO. LOVE QUILLS ESP!!
Curly is such a complex character, i want to blame him for not taking any action and be clueless but the way he ended up in the end makes me feel bad for him
This surely wont foreshadow a horrible event
Oh my god, I was having literal goosebumps seeing this scene fully animated and voiced. Their movements, facial expressions, voices, all these little details really complete their personalities, almost as if I was watching not a game-inspired video, but an actual movie/tv show scene. This channel does the W on anything Mouthwashing, regardless if it's a meme or a canon-faithful content. ❤️
My man Curly sounds amazing
Wherever i go, Gianni will follow me
Dude! welcome back!
THE WAY I STARTED TWEAKING WHEN I REALISED IT WAS GIANNI DHSJDHQJSDJSSJ
Gianni proceeds to voice another sexy man: (It's his daily routine)
The fact that Gianni fit Curly so much makes you realize how well he is as a voice actor
no but gianni voicing curly is so perfect
At this rate you're gonna make a full blown animated adaptation of this thing, which I'm all here for! This game is one of the most realistic horror games I've seen in a while and has a great cast of well developed characters.
YOURE BACK
WELCOME BACK!
Both Anya and Curly are people who were stripped of their autonomy and dehumanized by Jimmy, the difference is that one of them got a warning
I LOVE HOW U ANIMATE MOUTHWASHING CHARACTERS, PLS DONT DIE JOETASTIC
THEY GOT TWO OF MY FAVORITE VOICE ACTORS IN THE SAME FKING VID
AND
MY FAVORITE SCENE OF THE GAME NONETHELESS
THIS COULDN'T POSSIBLY BE ANY BETTTER
