Just finished this show actually, and i liked it! It brought up really neat concepts and in that sense it was similar to Serial Experiments Lain, which is another interesting show.
This video is old so idk if you still hold these views but starting off by saying people only put it on their 3x3s to seem extra cool is just a giant cope. If the show's score being that high in mal and the pedigree of being a very unique and personal project by one of the most renowned animators of the past 30 years isn't enough, the consistently well directed action, fun varied cast and cool tech themes should convince you after a watch that: Yes, people probably just like this show because it's good. Specially ironic to say only pretentious elitists would put this on their 3x3 with such a clickbait title, and such a surface level overview of the show as this.
I was going to rant but you pretty much covered my feelings. I'll just add that if someone watches this show and their main takeaway of is "it's a show that warns kids about social media" and not mention for one second the theme of grieving and getting over the loss of a close person has really not paid attention.I would also encourage anyone to rewatch the early episodes after completing the show because you will catch details in there that you missed the first time
The Orbital Children came out in Netflix and with it Dennou Coil of the same creator, so I returned to that anime after the years, before I will watch The Orbital Children.
dennou coil is my favorite anime. if you were a kid in the 2000's, growing up alongside the internet, you will likely relate personally to the themes conveyed. I think there's actually a lot to dig into in this show and there are deeper meanings to be evaluated.
I think this will be well worth a try. I've see it around for quite a while now but never thought to properly watch it. But now I know more about the story idea I think it's worth giving a go. Also I was born in the mid-90s so I can connect a little better with this story idea I think more the some people who are still teens who's fully connected into the internet, rather than more just through the desktop method. LOL
I think this anime underrated now because no one is ever talking about it and i enjoying it. I might have to put it on my watch it again list because its great and I officially watch more then 200 anime and counting. (I love underrated anime)
This show is on Netflix, I added it to my list cause I thought it was weird Netflix added a show I never heard of. Just finished today and really enjoyed it
I loved watching this. There was something almost mysterious and eerie to it, but it's well balanced with little bits of comedy or jokes and of course because it revolves around kids.
I adore shows like this where it does not force loud action an such it can just chill out like your another kid tagging along some people complained about Nadia The Secrete of Blue Water for having some extended content in the anime but its good extra content I enjoyed more then the climax actions scenes
I found it on AnimeRatio back in the day when I was browsing alphabetically through their catalog it looked appealing to me cuz its character design reminded me of digimon and it got me nostalgic.
It was rather slow paced , I watched it seasonally and loved it but I can't watch it in one sitting now. I think if you want to rewatch it you really can't binge.
This just got recommended to me a few minutes ago after seeing a trailer for a new film that is by the same director that's coming to Netflix and someone mentioned this series. I like the sound of it overall so I'll be giving it a try.
When Apple/Snap/Vuzix put out their first hit AR glasses, Dennou Coil will get Jojo ending theme'd. A lot of the people working on the rea life tech have seen and liked his show, so it may end up having a Star Trek effect where people will be astounded at how it "predicted" everything, which will make it more widely-known.
wowed me back in 2010 when i watched it and it still does. I can still dream of a streaming pc which is just projected via AR. That would be a plausible tech now isnt it? The only problem is the input lag but it should be doable.
What about "You'll Never Watch"? Strange basic for a "non-recommendation", listing 26 episodes as a no-brainer. It's just two times a season of 13 episodes. And those shows are quite common… ;-)
I love dennou coil. The premise and story are really cool. The middle section is a real drag. Not terrible, but I had a hard time rewatching it when I got to that part even though I love this anime.
