My all time favorite line in this song is when Raoul sings, "Christine spoke of an angel." It sounds so beautiful to me, and is the probably the only reason I listen to this song. Anyone else?
Who'd believe a diva happy to relieve a chorus girl, who's gone and slept with the patron? (Saying Christine loves Raoul) Raoul and the soubrette, entwined in love's duet! Although he may demur, he must have been with her! You'd never get away with all this in a play, but if it's loudly sung and in a foreign tongue it's just the sort of story (Here they think of making an opera that is like this one) audiences adore, in fact a perfect opera!
there is a part where it's not exactly right but it's good! :) thanks! :) *this is the part* ANDRE/FIRMIN: Carlotta will be playing the lead! CARLOTTA: It's useless trying to appease me! Piango: Appease her Carlotta: You're only saying this to please me! Piangi: Please her. Carlotta and Piangi: Signori, e vero? Non, non, non voglio udire ! Lasciatemi morire! O padre mio! Dio!"
Hello! Thanks for posting - really adds to enjoyment of the scene and the song. You've clarified several obscure lines. The corrections which follow are in capitals for ease of reference. Some of these have been made by previous writers. Thanks for correcting. :) "Mystery of SOPRANO'S flight" (apostrophe). "No one likes a debtOr" . "I remain gentlemEn , your obediEnt servant". "And OF THE QUEUES ROUND the theatre" (no apostrophe!) . "Think of THEIR cry of undying support" (back-referring to "your public") . "Lunatic demands are regular occurRences" (extra R). "A chorus girl WHO'S gone and slept with the patron? Raoul and the SOUBRETTE". "Light up the stage with that age-old rapPort"
This video of a modern opera breaks down the words being sung altogether in the newer film adaptation of "The Phantom of the Opera." Please note that there are some typographic errors here, and some of the lyrics are ellipsed, but you will get a sense of what an ensemble of singers/actors must do with an orchestra to pull your proverbial heart strings, which here happens at the line "What new surprises lie in store?"
"I shall give you one last chance. Christine Daae has returned to you and I am anxious her career should progress. In the new production ot II muto, you will therefore cast carlotta as the page boy and put miss Daee in the role of countess. The role which miss Daae plays calls for charm and appeal. The role of the page boy is silent which makes casting in a word, ideal. I shall watch the performance from my normal seat in box 5 which will be kept empty for me. Should these commands be ignored, a disaster beyond your imagination will occur I remain, gentleman, your obedient servant O.G". I can still remember this.
probably a good idea. . .stlyrics and metrolyrics usually have the same lyrics though so i don't usually bother with that. . .but i will check out metrolyrics to see if there's is more correct ^^
The lyrics are good and music is on time. Only bad part is I'm using this to practice for a play and there are some spelling mistakes where I dont know what it should say..
I love how they are like reciting Christine's story with phantom and raoul and they're like wow this would be a great opera!
Reagan Ford Yeah I especially like "But if it's loudly sung and in a foreign tongue..." They make a good point! XD

Hannah Faulkner Yeah I like it too. :)

Yes it's very nice to listen to. It contrasts well with the opera singing, considering the rest is the very definition of opera.😉
Yeah, I like that Raoul finally decides to listen to Christine and put 2 and 2 together 😂😂
yesssss!!
My favorite part is “you took a snub but there’s a public who needs you…”
Who'd believe a diva
happy to relieve a chorus girl,

entwined in love's duet!
Although he may demur,
he must have been with her!

it's just the sort of story (Here they think of making an opera that is like this one)

in fact a perfect opera!
"Prima Donna, first lady of the stage!"
The only reason I listen to this is because of the melody that goes with thpuse words.
I like when everybody sings all together, it's sounds nice
Unison is powerful
@@alaniclok holy shit i posted that 1 year ago and forgot it existed LSDJFDSLKJ
Prima Donna! What a sound this gives off. Bravo! Bravo!
Props to people who can sing and act this out on time , it's so hard when there are people singing in background 😫
This song gives me chills, absolutely love it
there is a part where it's not exactly right but it's good! :) thanks! :)
*this is the part*
ANDRE/FIRMIN:
Carlotta will be playing the lead!
CARLOTTA:
It's useless trying to appease me!
Piango:
Appease her
Carlotta:
You're only saying this to please me!
Piangi:
Please her.
Carlotta and Piangi:
Signori, e vero?
Non, non, non voglio udire !
Lasciatemi morire!
O padre mio!
Dio!"
one person disliked it??? must have been erik.....
Thanks for this, it can be hard to follow along everything that's being sung at once.
+SethBlizzard No problem~

I love this song
OMG HE GOES BY O.G!! THAT’S SO GOOD!!😂😂
Loved this xxxx Awesome ;);)
You forgot when the Phantom (near where they sing the last bit before Once more) something
"I shall give you one last chance. Christine Daae has returned to you and I am anxious her career should progress. The original lyrics were actually correct FOR THE ORIGINAL CAST RECORDING. Each version has slightly different lyrics, e.g. 'Wouldn't you rather'
Brilliant :D Love it
Wonderful!!
Underrrated song
At 8:47 it's shine not sing, just saying since you said to comment wrong lyrics lol sorry :P
Fuck yeah dude glad I found this. I always wondered what the lil smattering of voices were saying during the end of the notes bit
XD that's all right. fixing it now.
Best movie ever
crap you're right XD thanks for noticing ^^
on 8:44 on Carotta's part I guess it should say : Think how you'll shine in that final encore
Sorry, I messed up. It should be Madame Giry.
Hey Kristen have a listen to this one it's Notes/Prima Donna from The Phantom of the Opera with actual lyrics on screen check it out
*hangs head* I can't spell ....... thank you for noticing my mistake :D
OooPERA!
"amiable nature" ...."martyr"... "and of the queues..." .. "soubrette" .. "you'll shine in the final encore".. "rapport."
"Don't be a martyr"?????????????????!
At 3:51 it should read "amiable" nature.
your welcome :)
On 7:59 it should say Carlotta not Charlotta.
Go to metrolyrics.
it will help.
CONSIDER REVISING
*facepalm* I really think I need to redo the entire video . ..
Carlotta is Italian and so is Piangi not Spanish.
In the book Carlottas Spainish
Goliath Landry oh. ok. that's just what I thought. =)
Well they are Italian in the broadway production as you can hear in their accents, but yes, in the book they were Spanish.
Hmm... The second one... Raoul I suppose?
The phantom and Christine were soulmates
it sounds like il lotto
6:22
:)
this is how we view the-west
I once flushed a parakeet down the toilet to this song!!!
...
um its Senora (spainsh mrs.) Carllota is from spain thats why she sounds different Madame Giry who is clearly french
