I could maybe see the safety features being useful if you live in a more rural area with less reception. But otherwise the 13 is definitely the way to go since you’re getting basically the same phone for considerably less, especially if you can find a deal for a nice used/refurbished one.

True. I bought today an iPhone 13. Fits me well, not a fan of big phones too much. Just one I can fit perfectly in my hands. Good camera. I came from an iPhone XS. I didn’t consider the 14 nor 15 since they’re pretty much expensive as of yet. And I’m loving my 13 in green.

Was eyeing the 13 for quite some time then an opportunity came as the 14 is on sale for $701. As a first time iPhone user this deal couldn’t make me happier since I think I’m technically using a lite version of 13 pro with it having the same processor, 6gb of ram, and same main camera module.
My favorite feature of the iPhone has got to be face id. When I'm working on something like an engine and my fingers get greasy it's nice to be able to unlock my phone without getting it greasy too.
@johnyohanou Totally agree that these are extremely similar to a point that the 14 doesnt worth the extra cash compared to the 13. The only real good point to go for the 14 is the cheaper and easier to replace back glass but that comes with the toll of compromising the water resistance way earlier due to the adhesive in two panels instead of one as is with the 13.
Point is, if you buy these phones at full price there is a 50 euro/dollars difference and the 14 wins. But that's not the real world case/scenario right now, especially with Black Friday coming...I would go with the 13 anytime
Unless you look at the side in the US for the lack of a SIM card tray, you can’t tell the difference unless you look inside of the software and find a iPhone 14/14+ wallpaper.
Aside from the (suddenly) struggling battery life of the 13 on ios 16, I still LOVE using the 13, since day 1 I’ve never felt like I was truly missing out on any important features (including those of the pro lineups) and that narrative remains true for the 14 lineup!!
I really enjoy the build of the iphone and how growing up i had never had one until a teen a feel in love with the quality of the phone and the smoothness of its software❣️

Good video but if you travel quite a lot the 13 is the better deal as the physical sim is just so much easier to swap in and out when you get to a new location I think Apple jumped the gun on this one I keeping my iPhone 13 for that reason alone

I’ll save you 9 minutes and 32 seconds buy the 13. If you want to know why read 👇 All you get is an extra gpu core which virtually makes no difference since the 4 cores were already very sufficient for gaming. And really funny thing if you check 3d mark benchmarks the iPhone 13 is actually better in over all performance for gaming which is confusing. And the photo upgrades are extremely minuscule.
Comparing my 14 with my previous 13 mini (which is actually 13 but in small frame) I'm totally satisfied because of one sufficient upgrade. In 13 when I had to open 3-4 apps after watching youtube when I was going to watch the video, the app had been gone. But with my 14, even with 10 apps on background, my apps never refreshes and I dont have to start from beginning. Those additional 2 gbs of internal memory really helps. Imho, 100$ definitely worth of 6 gb config

The 13pro is a far superior phone then the base 14. Apple should only sale pro models, all these mid iPhones for flagship prices is ridiculous, $900 for my 13 when it launched but essentially the 12 pro is better, the previous years pro model is always better then the current years base model. Idk how no one notices this

The safety feature wouldn't be the hardest thing to include through software, and we know Apple could certainly do that if they wished to. Other than that, the 'new' 14 couldn't make sense. The 14plus, too, is a rather useless phone, because it replaced the mini, which had a screen size exclusive to it. At the price of the new 14 plus, one could find a 13 pro max if they looked a little hard. Same screen, better features, 120hz, pro camera setup. @mjoshss The Iphone in general does have features that other brands cannot successfully imitate. The camera itself is already notable. Alongside with the security features, Apple really does is one of the best when it comes to protecting their users information and data due to strong restrictions.
I’m thinking of upgrading from my Samsung s20 and I’m undecided if I want to get a 13 or 14. When comparing specs they seem basically identical besides a few minor improvements. I may shell out the extra money for a 14 pro but if I don’t I’ll likely purchase the 13 and save the $100 but that satellite feature sounds cool.
@jc.manunknown I just want to highlight three upgrades on the iPhone 14. First, is the Crash Detection. As a student who is studying outside my hometown, miles away, I travel alone so I think this features enables me to contact my family without actually using the phone whenever I’m in danger while traveling. Second is the steady video mode. I am fond of taking videos because I somehow aspire to become a good videographer. And lastly, the all-day battery life. This what I always look for a phone but always out of budget. I’m still using my iPhone 5s, and its battery life is dying. A lot of times I get out of battery outside and there’s no way I could recharge it. However, as what the video implies that better to opt for iPhone 13 and save $100 than to upgrade to iPhone 14. They’re almost identical in every features they have except for the newly added on the iPhone 14. It’s still the good update on the features tho. But either way, it’s iPhone! Always gives you everything you need for a smartphone.

Before anything else I would like to say thank you for making this video given that I have no means of affording any of the two phones that you have reviewed the video is still very much informative and can really help people choose which phone to buy. Anyways here are three things that really piqued my attention. First is of course the phones ability to take amazing photos and as someone who loves photography this feature is really good. Next is the two safety features, as someone who goes home late due to work(since i am a working student) this feature would really help me feel at ease and be more secured when commuting. Tho i hope that hopefully by next year it’s satellite feature will also cover our country. Lastly is its stabilization when it comes to recording videos. As a college student who took up tourism management this feature will surely help me film my school projects since my course really requires a lot of videography projects. Iphone 14 is the most repairable since the 7. This alone makes it worth to buy it. It is easier to open and cheaper to repair. Besides the antenna for 5G works flawlessly i download and surf in the internet at really high speed

@1660th - This might be an unpopular opinion but I might go with the iPhone 14 or even the Plus model. Even though they have the same form factor and chip as the iPhone 13. The 14 still has the better battery life and more RAM (4GB on 13 vs 6GB on the 14).
I actually think the best value iPhone right now is the 13 Mini. I picked one up when they dropped the price to replace my back-up SE 2020. I like it so much, that the Mini has become my daily use phone. Plus, I still need the physical SIM card, so I'm not upgrading to the 14. I want to be able to swap the SIM between my 13 and 13 Mini.
@gartcave 100% agree with you Dion. If you’re upgrading from a 13 / 12 / even 11 to a 14, just save 100 and buy the 13. Yeah it’s the same phone you already have but you’re already making a horrible decision so might as well save a bit and but the 13. The new feature emergency SOS via satellite (text emergency services when you're out of cellular and Wi-Fi coverage) only working on US and Canada, so is pretty much a waste for me cause I'm not on US nor Canada. But if I get the 14 I'll be absolutely grateful cause it would be a significant upgrade over my 11. Great video as always Dion!

I had XS for 3 years and i made the best decision to buy the 13, i was considering to go with the 14 pro, but for me it is a waste of money, because i don’t take photo or video, only the 120hz was the main reason for me to go with it, but for now i’m good with 60hz, maybe in next years…

It definitely has given me better insight as I’ve been looking to get a new watch and iPhone. Hands down my favorite feature on iPhones has been the cameras. Since my se 2016 I’ve used my iPhone to take amazing photos and enter some competitions. I loved my iPhone 12 Pro Max the cameras on it were so good but since it was stolen a few months ago I’ve been using my broken XR and it’s been a challenge only having one lens that’s also cracked lol. But the new crash detection sounds like a really awesome feature, as someone who does doordash and Uber eats delivery that’s such a nice feature to have for the just in case situations.
I personally don’t think anyone is buying the iPhone 14 for the crash detection feature or the satellite one either……but having IOS and the a15 chipset and the camera quality and build is still so very much worth it 🥹
@nikolovski_tomo The iPhone 13 pro main camera is basically brought to the main 14 lineup. Together with the extra RAM I would say its a fair difference. Bot necessarily a reason to upgrade from 13 to 14 though.
@ichiro1989 I’d go for the iphone 14. better battery, crash detection, brighter lowlight photos, action mode (best feature). Overall best performance though they have the same chipset, the more optimized A15 works better with the iphone 14

The Iphone in general does have features that other brands cannot successfully imitate. The camera itself is already notable. Alongside with the security features, Apple really does is one of the best when it comes to protecting their users information and data due to strong restrictions.
The Satellite feature is my favourite part of the iPhone line up

I’m thinking of upgrading from my Samsung s20 and I’m undecided if I want to get a 13 or 14. When comparing specs they seem basically identical besides a few minor improvements. I may shell out the extra money for a 14 pro but if I don’t I’ll likely purchase the 13 and save the $100 but that satellite feature sounds cool.

I just want to highlight three upgrades on the iPhone 14. First, is the Crash Detection. As a student who is studying outside my hometown, miles away, I travel alone so I think this features enables me to contact my family without actually using the phone whenever I’m in danger while traveling. Second is the steady video mode. I am fond of taking videos because I somehow aspire to become a good videographer. And lastly, the all-day battery life. This what I always look for a phone but always out of budget. I’m still using my iPhone 5s, and its battery life is dying. A lot of times I get out of battery outside and there’s no way I could recharge it. However, as what the video implies that better to opt for iPhone 13 and save $100 than to upgrade to iPhone 14. They’re almost identical in every features they have except for the newly added on the iPhone 14. It’s still the good update on the features tho. But either way, it’s iPhone! Always gives you everything you need for a smartphone.

Heyy thanks for the information, Thank you for the suggestion too, yes having a bigger screen is very useful which is my favorite feature of the new Ipone, having a bigger screen is definitely a plus in the iphone 14 plus, haha pun unintended. The Iphone 14 base is also a great option, it gets the job done and it has the new safety features of the Iphone 14. And with the new IOS 16, the Iphone 14 is really capable even if you choose the non pro models

Hi Divon! I am Maria and here are the specs that really caught my attention. Before anything else I would like to say thank you for making this video given that I have no means of affording any of the two phones that you have reviewed the video is still very much informative and can really help people choose which phone to buy. Anyways here are three things that really piqued my attention. First is of course the phones ability to take amazing photos and as someone who loves photography this feature is really good. Next is the two safety features, as someone who goes home late due to work(since i am a working student) this feature would really help me feel at ease and be more secured when commuting. Tho i hope that hopefully by next year it’s satellite feature will also cover our country. Lastly is its stabilization when it comes to recording videos. As a college student who took up tourism management this feature will surely help me film my school projects since my course really requires a lot of videography projects. Currently having 11pro, some heating occasionally, battery efficiency getting worse, reception is bad. And no 5g

@1660th - This might be an unpopular opinion but I might go with the iPhone 14 or even the Plus model. Even though they have the same form factor and chip as the iPhone 13. The 14 still has the better battery life and more RAM (4GB on 13 vs 6GB on the 14).
I actually think the best value iPhone right now is the 13 Mini. I picked one up when they dropped the price to replace my back-up SE 2020. I like it so much, that the Mini has become my daily use phone. Plus, I still need the physical SIM card, so I'm not upgrading to the 14. I want to be able to swap the SIM between my 13 and 13 Mini.

100% agree with you Dion. If you’re upgrading from a 13 / 12 / even 11 to a 14, just save 100 and buy the 13. Yeah it’s the same phone you already have but you’re already making a horrible decision so might as well save a bit and but the 13. The new feature emergency SOS via satellite (text emergency services when you're out of cellular and Wi-Fi coverage) only working on US and Canada, so is pretty much a waste for me cause I'm not on US nor Canada. But if I get the 14 I'll be absolutely grateful cause it would be a significant upgrade over my 11. Great video as always Dion!

Buy 13 normal... I had XS for 3 years and i made the best decision to buy the 13, i was considering to go with the 14 pro, but for me it is a waste of money, because i don’t take photo or video, only the 120hz was the main reason for me to go with it, but for now i’m good with 60hz, maybe in next years…

I stumbled on your channel with your last video on the watches and I have to say i really appreciate your unbiased and super detailed reviews. It definitely has given me better insight as I’ve been looking to get a new watch and iPhone. Hands down my favorite feature on iPhones has been the cameras. Since my se 2016 I’ve used my iPhone to take amazing photos and enter some competitions. I loved my iPhone 12 Pro Max the cameras on it were so good but since it was stolen a few months ago I’ve been using my broken XR and it’s been a challenge only having one lens that’s also cracked lol. But the new crash detection sounds like a really awesome feature, as someone who does doordash and Uber eats delivery that’s such a nice feature to have for the just in case situations.

I personally don’t think anyone is buying the iPhone 14 for the crash detection feature or the satellite one either……but having IOS and the a15 chipset and the camera quality and build is still so very much worth it 🥹

The iPhone 13 pro main camera is basically brought to the main 14 lineup. Together with the extra RAM I would say its a fair difference. Bot necessarily a reason to upgrade from 13 to 14 though.

I’d go for the iphone 14. better battery, crash detection, brighter lowlight photos, action mode (best feature). Overall best performance though they have the same chipset, the more optimized A15 works better with the iphone 14
