Every M3 to date has had at least one version with a wing so I don't get where you're coming from. Even its predecessor, the 3.0 had a winged version.
i did not mention all the bmw models i only mentioned this particular one (maybe i did not make it clear) but the wing does not fit it at all (atleast in my opinion)

The AMG gts is shaped like a sport car, the M4 is not. It's a normal sedan with powerful engine and better suspension. The AMG gts was specifically designed to be fast. Which the M4 specifically wasn't. But also to be fast.
Yeah and the M4 GTS is really heavy considering it has carbons seats, roof, bonnet, and door covering.

***** I know this one have the CP seats, we can see it in the vid. But even with the Carbon seats and wheels it would be right under 1.6 tons which is a lot compared to a GT3 RS' 1450kg, and not much less than a regular M4.

Nürburgring times are a huge joke at this pont. Almost all manufacturers run cars around equipped with parts that never make it to the production models. It's a phony marketing scheme.

Well this is a better control test. It's done by a 3rd party with the same professional driver in the same conditions.
The GTS would be a better comparison against the AMG C63 Black Series if/when it comes out.

Beside the spoiler and rims, it's a good looking car, but as dumb as it sounds, the area I'm in, BMW's are less impressive/attention grabbing than a Smart car and they have always had that boring "fast car" entitlement while reliability is beyond excusable (seen it so many times). Besides, Ford stepped up big time and to say a Gt350R is faster and better per general msrp is just ridiculous and I'm happy.
It's pretty ugly, but at least you're not buying a used Rolls Royce or Bentley haha

I haven't really cared much for bench racing all of the current and latest performance cars since I was 12 or 13 reading Car and Driver and Motor Trend Magazine, but I must say...
The fact that the M4 GT-S was beaten by one and a half seconds on the same circuit by a special edition Mustang, which has nothing amazing going for it other than modern (finally) suspension geometry, good chassis/brakes, and a nice V8 at HALF THE PRICE should be an absolute embarrassment to BMW Motorsport.

So BMW figured it out! By bringing the power up with an extra 50 horse power and costs 50 thousand more that the regular M4. That is a thousand dollar for every pony and with a screaming lap time difference with a 2:03 seconds than the M4 🤔

I doubt the GT350R hast he road manner to win overall, it did poorly in Car and Drivers Lightning lap which suggests you need a pro driver to get really good times. A good drivers car wont require that. If anything I think the normal GT350 would have a better chance

well the real deal at the acr is the extreme track setup. you just cant compare the time from this m4 gts to another m4 time driven on another day. the temperature can already have a decent influence on lap times especially for turbo charged cars

Both are ugly as hell with their spoilers. The Camaro is 65k, and isn't even 0,2 seconds slower than the BMW. I know what i'd choose.

something about the lap time just doesn't make any sense I'm starting to even wonder if there was any water in the tank for the water injection BMW will put an extra 20 HP in a 3 series and it will go 2 sec quicker around the lap but here the gts has 60 HP more and it's only 2 sec faster something is fishy here

Got smacked by the mustang even though this car is way more expensive
sounds nice, the induction noise verse turbo spooling noise & blow off is a good balance, the exhaust sounds good outside too, the handling is as expected, don't get the mid corner understeer, if they have a package to make the regular m4 , be a step closer to this wihtout the rollcage, it should sell even better. Like the m5 handling package they had a few years back, but it needed it

Pretty awesome car, 135K plus is way to high though. If it was 80-90K that would be another thing, IMO minds well spend a extra 20-30K and get a 911 or AMG GTS. I love M cars but they need to have these cars in check price wise for what's available on the market. I mean it doesn't even have door handles or speakers... still a awesome car though.
M4 GTS should be least a 2 seconds faster than what they claim. (Change the tyres or Change the driver)
All cars had the same driver, there is no excuse for a $135K stripped out M4 GTS to only beat a much heavier, less powerful Camaro SS with a manual transmission by a tenth of a second, and that wasn't on Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2's.
Some erudite commenters, for some strange reason, seem to have overlooked the fact the M4 is a 3 litre straight six, not a 5+ litre V8. I don't understand why they've done this⁉️🤔🤔🤔

Turbo, twin-clutch vs V8 NA, manual. I don't see too many points in the BMW's favour. It's supposed to be an enthusiast's track car yet it's slower, has a less enjoyable turbo engine, has a less enjoyable automatic gearbox, and to top it all off the BMW is much more expensive!
TassieLorenzo I know the Mustang is a faster car, but the M4 GTS is a better drivers car and probably handles better. But it doesn't have the same amount of power the gt350 gas.
Motor trend just realesed a video on the M4 GTS and he said it is a really good car, and what an M car is supposed to be like. It's a great car. But it doesn't have the island v8 power

I knew some day American muscle cars would get their shit together on the chassis, brakes and suspension and surpass these expensive European jobbies. They are doing it and for half the cost. I fully expect to hear the age old, "plastic interior", "murica" , "using our technologies"and all the other nonsense but here we see it, you have to get into the $175k to 300K range of European cars to keep up with our Mustangs, Corvettes and Camaros. Hey Europe, American aint just for straight line racing anymore. Suck it!

You cant compare American cars with german cars. You guys just put V8s in everything because they are powerful. The german car manufacturer however are reducing these types of engines because of regulations they get from the government about how environment friendly their cars have to be (why VW cheated with their diesel engines). In the case of the BMW we have a 3.0 liter engine with Turbos which makes roughly the same amount of power as the americans but with the negative points of a turbo and small engine (turbo lagg etc.). Of course there are still manufacturers such as Mercedes with for example the gts (which is faster than the mustang) which put big engines in their cars and they are not slower around the track than the american ones. Of course the difference in price is enormous but you get a much higher quality car. Personally i think the american cars are pretty cool (especially the new Dodge Charger) but i still prefer European or Japanese cars.

Your all missing the point!!! It's an exciting/fun raw driving experience that will make you feel like your driving a race car emotionally. Get behind the wheel of one and you will have no choice but to take note of how your cheeks hurt from smiling so much and how sweaty your palms will be because of sheer exhilaration. Behind the wheel of some competition of this car, sure you may be going faster but also will be thinking more about what's on the speedo than the sheer pleasure of what your peripheral senses are screaming at you. I will forgive most of you lap time and 0-60 junkies because that's the only thing you know about these cars. JUST DRIVE AND FEEL THE DIFFERENCE😤😇🏎💨

I love BMW.. I drive an M5 most days but I have to say... that car is ridiculously overpriced and completely unattainable, only 300 in the states all of which are already sold and you have it up as a best driver's car contender... Suppose it wins "the BMW is the best drivers car this year but none of you can ever hope of driving one since they're all spoken for" doesn't make a lick of damn sense... you would think that in order for a car to be considered, that people would be able to.. oh, I don't know.. actually BUY AND DRIVE the damn thing.
How is this any less attainable than the McLaren, R8, or GT3RS(?) in the same competition? The GTS may be sold out but it's not going to be impossible to get one if you're willing to pay some markup. The Shelby GT350R is also essentially impossible to buy right now, doesnt mean it should be excluded from the test either.
The thing is, they can sell it for much more. It is a special edition with 300 units in US after all.

I can't believe the Shelby 350R is over 1.5 seconds faster than this raced up M4. And that includes Randy screwing up his line in the last turn. Kudos to Ford.

I think the older six's in the BMW's sounded much better. I'm not one for a turbo sound myself, I just prefer an engine with a bit more low end noise, this one is all high.

If it's gonna be an exclusive car, it better have something to offer other than limited production, like performance. This is a stupid car.
Here's how you can build a better driver's car for half of that price: M2 with 6 speed 52k. + AA tune, downpipe, full bolt ons, meth injection (400whp) 4k. Camber plates and a more aggressive alignement + corner weight balanced 600$, 18x10 lightweight wheels + track tires square set up 2.5k. Carbon fiber splitter, wing and hood 2.5k. Sell oem parts -2k. Total cost would be around 60k and the lap times would be very close to a GTS.
How do BMW fans feel about the M4 GTS getting whooped by the Mustang Shelby GT350r at like 55 grand less?

I feel the M3 is what the M5 should be with 2 more doors and slightly longer and the M3 should more be like the M2. I really like the M6 though but thats it from BMW right now.
You are not going to buy one these for $66, the mark up is $25k on average. It's collectors car anyone driving one is an idiot if they aren't a sponsored driver.

That is the main point of a good sports car. And not taking shortcuts to higher performance by giving the car almost race spec tires, which has been the main thing with all US sports cars since the crazy Z/28 with world's widest tires.

this video realy changed my opinion on the the gts. It was the slowest out of 5 shown so far and the mustang is cheaper. This car is meant to be as fast as possible. exclusively a track car however it was by no means the best at being that..the only reasin i would buy it would be for the resale price in 10 years time
